I had amazing ribs and a cold drink made of corn milk, both had a very interesting flavour.

Incredible food - Edit
A completely vegan place with a variety of food! The ones I’ve tried so far were incredibly delicious.
Read moreTake some time to come here as we only saw one person cooking, serving the food and everything else that needs to be done.
I’d still say it’s 100% worth coming here.
Side Notes:
1. The entry is sort of hidden as we were not able to see an actual sign outside. The photo shows the entry and for your orientation: there’s a church right across the street.
2. You cannot pay with your card!

Tasty pizza and friendly staff - Edit
I reallly enjoyed my pizza and ice cream and appreciated how friendly the two men who worked there were in putting up with my terrible Spanish. I want to go back and try the "ribs" and mashed potatoes. Tip: Waze took me practically to their doorstep, but I didn't see a sign and it took me a while to realize that I was at the right place. When Waze says you are there, the restaurant that is right in front of you is it. Well, that's their entrance but apparently the first space is operated by a different restaurant (the dessert case by the entrance is not theirs, and those desserts are not vegan). Just walk past that into the middle space which is Cocina Libre.

Incredible Food - Edit
This was a great find. It’s a little place that makes entirely vegan food, all made from scratch. We can’t speak Spanish but the lady was so lovely and translated the menu for us. Portion sizes were good - not overwhelming large. All of the food was unique and delicious and for the price it was amazing!

Best vegan food in downtown SJ - Edit
New restaurant that just opened near San José Chinatown, serving delicious vegan food. The founders are committed to principles of veganism, and the restaurant also serves as a community gathering space. All meals are made from scratch and everything I have tried was incredible! This does mean that your food can take awhile to prepare, so feel free to bring a book/laptop or check out the literature they have! They are currently open on Thursday to Monday, for lunch and dinner.
