One of Bath's best restaurants, with a separate vegan menu - Edit
We live locally and we've eaten here on numerous occasions. The owner, Rob Clayton, has won and maintained Michelin stars at previous restaurants. Clayton's Kitchen is a great English restaurant for a special occasion or a nice meal out, when your party is mixed and not all vegan. However, Clayton's Kitchen does have a separate vegan menu and, unlike many such restaurants, it's not an afterthought. The same care is put into cooking the vegan dishes, sourcing fresh ingredients and cooking with subtle flavours, bases and sauces, as with the main menu. At lunch today we were really pleased with our meals, one of us eating from the vegan menu and one not. My vegan dishes were delicious and memorable. I started with the Roasted & Pickled Beetroots and Roast Butternut Squash which came with pickled pear, candied walnuts, spiced apple chutney, toasted seeds and cold pressed Bath harvest lemon rapeseed oil. It was delicious, and the flavours of each of the ingredients stood out and complemented one another. For my vegan main I had the Toasted Fregola Pasta, Penny Bun Mushroom Sauce with sauteed portobello mushroom, vegan almond parmesan cheese, chargrilled sweetcorn, black truffle oil and crispy parsnips. Again, delicious, subtle and beautifully presented. Service is friendly and professional. The ambiance is charming and rustic.

Separate vegan menu - Edit
We stopped by this very pleasant restaurant out of curiosity and discovered that they had a separate vegan menu. We had no idea, as it was not advertised. We happened to mention we were vegans and that was when the waitress produced the vegan menu. The food we chose was really good - a starter of root vegetables in a sweet, balsamic sauce with candied walnuts which we shared, then my partner had an amazing risotto ‘verde’ with fresh green vegetables (including seared green asparagus) and I had the couscous, which was like no other couscous I’ve ever had - it was very tasty, with freshly cooked vegetables. The ambiance was pleasant and the waitresses were attentive, but not overly so.

Vegan menu - Edit
Delicious vegan meal. Friends (who are omnivores, opted for some vegan and vegetarian when they saw the great offerings!). Fregola was a good twist on risotto.
