Confused server/menu, alright food - Edit
Anytime I go to a vegan-friendly restaurant with a full “Vegan” page on their menu, I have zero desire to go back and forth with the server on how to veganize my meal. I just want to select my options and eat. Sadly I think some of the staff are not clued into the confusing vegan menu, which basically states anything from the curries and noodles can be done vegan.
Read moreI asked for the vegan Pad Thai, since it is part of the “Noodles” category, but the server said no that won’t work, or “we can leave the egg if that is fine with you.” Basically, the vegan menu just doesn’t properly lay out what you can order vegan, which defeats the entire purpose. Anyways, I ended up with the Pad See Ew, sans egg. It was Pad See Ew. Also, if you want both tofu and vegetables in your dish (*gasp*), you have to pay extra. Can’t you cut me some slack, since I’m already removing the egg, probably the most expensive component? I guess in this specific Thai restaurant, their Pad See Ew comes only with broccoli, and any other vegetable needs to be additionally added for a charge. *Eye roll*
Anyways, the food was fine, but this was a wasted dining experience in a city full of better-labeled and more enjoyable vegan food.
Pros: Food tasted pretty good
Cons: Not understanding of vegan options, Added cost to get tofu and vegetables

Unusual Thai - now with a separate vegan menu! - Edit
Since the last reviews it seems they have added a separate vegan menu with several items. (NOTE: one item lists "egg" as an ingredient, the others are fine.)
Read moreI had fried tofu which was piping hot and not at all oily/greasy. The clear soup was a very tasty vegetable broth with loads of nicely cooked veggies (though not enough mushrooms). I had brown rice as a side. All were tasty and served not.
In addition to the usual alcoholic options, there were several mocktails and non-alc beverages available. No vegan dessert option.
Overall - very nice option for vegan Thai in a neighborhood many not-so-good restaurants.
Pros: Many vegan options, Nice food, served fresh

Not all the dishes here use fish sauce or eggs… - Edit
…but most of their dishes do. Unless a menu item here has “V” next to it, you can assume that it uses fish sauce and thus is not vegetarian. Furthermore, most of the items that are vegetarian here use eggs and thus are not vegan. To be sure, you can ask to omit the eggs—but then you get a lesser meal for the same price.
Read moreAs far as I’ve noticed, there is only one clearly marked vegan main dish on the menu, along with a few others that seem to be vegan as is (i.e., without modification). On the positive side: the vegan dish I had was good, and the setting here is quite nice as well, so it is a decent place to go to meet omnis.
On the other hand, I feel that the omni vegan-friendly Thai restaurant Aura’s, a couple of blocks away, offers much better vegan food, prepared by a chef who is trained in vegan cooking and treats vegan food as more than an afterthought.
