Authentic Brazilian food

Great menu with a combination of traditional British cafe options and Brazilian dishes. Lots of vegan options. I had the hot dog and a biscoff milkshake, both of which were lovely. Well priced, too.

We had quite a wait for food, so just be aware this probably isn't a place if you need to be in and out quickly.

Dog friendly.

Pros: great menu

Cons: service was a bit slow, limited seating, so book ahead for larger parties.

Lovely people, drinks and nice food

It's open across that awkward mid point in the afternoon where you're often stuck if you're wanting a late lunch.

Saved me on many times when I was searching for a home in Redcar. Great drinks options and such fantastic staff.

Warm, friendly, inviting.

Just what you want really.

Pros: They have drinks I've not heard of , The staff are great , Interesting hot vegan options

Good little cafe

Lovely little cafe with friendly staff and a nice range of cakes and treats. Good that they had dairy free, egg free and gluten free options and non dairy milks.

We love this place!

Gorgeous little place full of brazillian charm!
We regularly have the biscoff cake and oat lattes, we've also tried the milkshakes which are extremely thick and very tasty.

Pros: Biscoff cake is incredible, Friendly and passionate staff, Family run small business

Cons: Usually just one or two choices of cake, Limited seating

Holy Cacau’w!

Saw Sophie_B had rated highly and she’s got good taste, so why not.

Why has it taken me so long? What a fantastic little place for lunch. The menu is really vegan friendly and the owner ‘Hamiliton’ is lovely.

The food tasted fantastic and we had …

Feijoada £9.90. A trad Brazilian black bean dish with vegan smoked sausage, served with boiled rice, farofa (looks like breadcrumbs but is made from cassava (yuka)) and collared greens. My word, what a plateful… what a delight. The family recipe is the best I’ve had.

Caldo de Feijao £5.20. A trad Brazilian creamy bean soup with vegan sausage served with oregano olive oil croutons. The beans came from ‘Hamilton’s’ home town in Brazil and it really was creamy, thick and very filling.

Vegan Hot Dog - Brazilian Style. £5.30. A hot dog which tasted really really good. The vegan mayo with their homemade sauce and mustard really rounded it off. It’s described as Brazilian but the potato sticks made it more American. Perhaps a Brazilian staple like potato salad or a side salad?

Vegan cheesy chips £3.90. Not the usual poor quality vegan cheese, but nice runny cheese which melts properly - guilty sin 😉 .

Would I go back? Yes… like this week

Would I recommend. Yes. #Veganuary

I absolutely love this little cafe, excellent customer service, very friendly people and there’s such a lovely environment in the cafe. Even all the other people that go are all friendly, it’s just such a nice cafe to be in and I’m happy to support this cafe. I ordered a vegan breakfast with a latte with oat milk, and it was absolutely delicious, I highly recommend this place, you will not leave disappointed. There’s so much passion in the cafe to ensure when you leave you want to come back again.

Pros: Lovely customer service , Lovely food , Reasonable price

Muito obrigado!

Very welcoming cafe with a friendly and relaxing vibe. We ordered the vegan cheeseburger and hotdog and a vegan cheese, parsley and sundried tomato sandwich for our young son. The cheese burger and hotdog tasted great and both had good texture and were well seasoned. The sandwich was good too and the cheese used was really nice. We also ordered a takeaway americano and a delicious slice of biscoff cake and two refreshing juices that were acerola and orange and pineapple and mint. Muito obrigado!

Pros: Good vegan options, Welcoming cafe

Cons: Serves meat

A little gem! 5*

Cacau has really stepped up their game on vegan food! There's so much choice now from delicious artisanal drinks and fresh exotic juices, to cakes, ice cream, paninis and main meals! Their biscoff cake is amazing! And I also love the beans soup, and their vegan version of the traditional feijoada. Staff is always friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is so relaxing, a pure Brazilian gem in the North East. I'd give it a 5* but the app won't let me as the cafe is not 100% vegan. :)

Great place

We were in Middlesbrough on business and decided to have lunch. We found this place, near the seaside, on Happy Cow.com. They had a couple of vegan gnocchi dishes and some dishes that, the menu said could be adapted to be vegan. It was a friendly, homely place, with very nice staff. The food was very good, I had a dish with a rich, vegan mascarpone and tomato sauce and my partner had the gnocchi champignon. With huge servings we couldn't manage it all. Personal service too, the lovely chef came out to see if we were enjoying the food. Recommended hidden (to us anyway) gem.

Pros: Lovely place, Good food, Freindly service

Cons: None, None, None
