Unassuming Deliciousness - Edit
We stumbled across this little place hungry for lunch and hopeful. The interior is not much to rave about but the food is tasty, plentiful and filling. The service was kind, efficient and lovely. We LOVED the hot and sour soup. I'm not a big fan of all the different tofu flavoured "meats" but understand how that can appeal to meat eaters wanting to go veg. The menu is large and there's something for everyone. We had garlic eggplant, olive fried rice, dumplings... all delicious, with enough left over for dinner!

Good Duck - Edit
I had a noodle dish and the "duck". Noodle dish was just okay, but the duck was very tasty. Never had duck so I can't compare but the flavour and texture was very good.

Incredible lemon chicken - Edit
I only went to this restaurant once, and I absolutely loved it. It's a small restaurant with only 15(ish) seats, and you might want to arrive a little early in order to dine in! The owner (or manager) was very sympathetic.
Read moreI ordered the lemon veggie chicken (14$) and was baffled by it. The texture of the "chicken" is incredible, and the lemon sauce is SO good. I really enjoyed it, and the portion was so big that I couldn't finish. I also had a small bowl of white rice which was enjoyable given the sourness of the lemon.
My girlfriend had the General Tao's veggie chicken (13$), which was also good but too heavy to my taste. Overall, I was happy with my dish and can't wait to come back and try other courses!
Pros: Very good dishes, Kind manager/owner, Free tea
Cons: A bit too small, tables are quite close

Evening Meal (and extra for tomorrow) - Edit
Had FRIED VERMICELLI WITH MIXED VEGETABLES (GF) and GENERAL TAO'S VEGGIE CHICKEN which was much more than a meal! My mistake as I ended up taking some food away in single use box rather than wasting it. It was the sight of the veggie chicken that brought me to the restaurant as I have fond memories of sweet and sour prawns in batter from U.K. takeaways when growing up. Enjoyable food but would have liked some more vegetables in the dishes and feel the batter could have been slightly less cooked. Including tip, just over $30.

Very good! - Edit
I’ve tried a lot of Chinese vegan food and this one is a strong recommendation. I tried the soy pop corn as an appetizers, it was very good and crispy, and the general Tao’s chicken with rice. It doesn’t look like it but it’s a good portion, the bites are really big so I didn’t finish and it’s kind of an « heavy » dish if that makes sense. But it was really tasty and I loved the texture. My gf took the lemon chicken and it was super good aswell, a lighter dish that I’ve never tried before, so quite original.

If you're looking for tasty Chinese food, look no further! This play has tasty food. I have tried the General tao, Sweet & sour Chicken, Pepper Steak, Chicken strips, Kung Pao & Spring rolls. It has all been very delicious. The hours are a bit hit or miss & the packaging could be better, but the taste is worth it.

One of the best buddhist Chinese food restaurants in downtown Toronto. They serve amazingly good food with huge portions for a fair price. Small price, but people come here for the delicious food! Highly recommend.

We eat here every single time we're in Toronto. The staff are so sweet and attentive (always checking that the delicious complimentary tea is full), and the food is worth the trip alone.

Carnists will forget it's vegan! - Edit
This place has one of the widest and best selections of food I've ever seen at a vegan restaurant. If you love Chinese / East Asian cuisine, you're in for a treat at Buddha's Vegan Restaurant. Their imitation meat dishes are very tasty, and they've got a great selection of veggies, soups, and noodles as well if imitation meats aren't your thing!

All vegan. They replicate non-vegan Asian dishes. Tastes delicious. Little hole in the wall place that impresses with the food dishes.

Feast - Edit
The lemon chicken is as good as everyone says it is. We had a feast and also ordered the imitation duck with vegetables, the Buddha deluxe with tofu, a taro roll, eggplant and tofu in a black bean sauce on noodles, and the olive leaves with ginger fried rice. We have enough leftovers for at least two more meals. We agreed that the only thing that didn’t quite work for us was the eggplant (but the tofu and noodles that it came with were excellent!)

A nostalgic meal - Edit
I've been dying to have this kind of cuisine since returning from SE Asia years ago; this kind of joint is everywhere in Malaysia and Singapore. This is a cozy little unpretentious spot, which I am a fan of. I always find it hard to accurately review a place after just one visit but here we go.
Read moreThe prices are low, the portions massive, the menu unbelievably extensive. I highly recommend coming with a friend or three so everyone can get a sample of something difference, cause any one thing will be a lot of it (at least two full meals). The kitchen actually closes an hour early Sunday but I was let in just before as long as I ordered in that time. The dude running the place seemed a bit hurried but was very accommodating throughout.
I got the fried duck on crispy noodle thing others have uploaded photos of - it was okay, tasty enough but a very one-dimensional flavour. As another has written, they seem to have other fake meats that would suit this dish better as the bean curd sheets were not meat like at all. I wish they'd add photos for the menu as the variety is just staggering, and unless you know exactly what comes in what (in terms of the mock meats) it is impossible to know. I hope to return some day soon though.
Pros: Cheap, Tons of options, Tons of food
Cons: Plain tasting, Menu needs photos

Best Chinese restaurant in Ontario? - Edit
Authentic Chinese restaurant experience. They have a huge menu; not everything is good. You'll need to either try everything or get a Chinese friend with that special intuition.
Read moreSuper delicious, huge portions, excellent prices. I never feel like I'm getting ripped off, always stuffed and satisfied.
There's not much parking in the area though.
You want flavour? Order these items:
41 - Mushroom Fried Rice (or any of the fried rices, they're all pretty good)
63 - Spicy stir-fried green beans with veggie chops (best dish)
67 - Kung Pao 'Chicken' (new'ish dish, goes really well with a bit of hot sauce)
68 - 'Lamb' Stew
75 - Crispy 'chicken' on hot plate (this should be real the mock 'duck')

Disappointing - Edit
The venue is very small, with only 5 or 6, maybe 7 tables. It has a feel of a mom and pop Chinese restaurant, cleanliness so-so, with a silent tv passing Buddhist-life-lesson messages. Decor is minimalist. Given the reviews we read on this site, we were expecting an outstanding meal. It wasn’t. We ordered the tofu & funghi. The mushrooms were good -hard for mushrooms not to taste good, right? The tofu and the sauce were insipid. Then we had the “duck” and vegetables on crispy noodles. This time, the noodles were the best part of this dish. The duck neither looked nor tasted like duck. Now, I know that no-meat duck never really tastes like actual duck, but I have had much better seitan faux meat in my life (anybody knows Chuchai restaurant in Montreal?) All in all, this dish was lacking in taste and was not inspired. We were really, really disappointed. Yes, the portions are large, but maybe they should be smaller and better seasoned.
