Lacks flavour

First ordered the Kung pao soy chicken was good but lacked flavour slightly, but good enough to try something else from there. Next ordered the imitation duck chow mein which was bland and tasteless

Convienent, close & cheaper than most

I picked Kung Pao chicken, rice and fried dumplings as an appetizer. Just like everyone else have said, it's a lot of food. After reading some of the reviews here the the top two that I was most interested in were Kung Pao and lemon chicken but since I wanted more crunch, I picked king Pao. Haven't try the dish before so I don't have anything to compare it to but I enjoyed it.

Since a reviewer had said they didn't actively order noodle/rice, they didn't get any, I made sure to tell them. The fried dumplings where meh.

Edit: went there a second time nad ordered the same thing, to go and they were quick! Rice cost extra

Tasty food

I ordered the mapo tofu with steamed rice and asked for a recommendation for something crispy which I can’t remember the name of.

The mapo tofu was not as I have experienced before with mushrooms and chopped vegetables though still tasty.

I would put this in the category of reasonably priced comfort food rather than wow food.

Pros: All vegetarian, mostly vegan , Many choices , Free pot of tea included

Incredibly homely and wonderful

A description is not enough, this place needs to experienced IRL! The kung pao chicken is the best item on the menu imho. Rest of the food is also great! Made and served with love. Walls are filled with beautiful messages from customers!

Pros: Taste, Location , Homely Feeling

Cons: None whatsoever

My favourite place on earth

I (in)famously eat here 1-2 times a month, sometimes more, amazing for groups, share your dishes, powerful menu, Bruce and Sammy are so friendly and kind! #56 Duck Fried Noodle is insane. My strongest tether to Toronto. Affordable, comes out less than 5 minutes, big portions, perfect for sharing with friends and family! Please come spend money here!

Pros: Not expensive and fast service, Kindest servers, Massive Menu

Disappointing

We were eager to try this restaurant after seeing the many positive reviews. We ordered the hot and sour soup, veggie dumpling soup, veggie drumsticks, buddha's feast and the rice noodle with beef and black bean sauce.

The food selections we made were unremarkable. The broth with both soups lacked depth and flavor. The hot and sour soup was more sour than hot and it lacked umami. The veggie dumpling had too much shredded carrot as a filling. The veggie drumsticks were fine but it's a hard dish to get wrong since it's from a manufacturer. The Buddha's feast was average and lacked core ingredients like napa cabbage and mung bean thread noodle. The rice noodle dish was really disappointing as it is one of my favorite foods. The faux beef slices were completely flavorless. The black bean sauce was thin and the noodles were rehydrated from dry and still quite chewy. This dish is so much better with fresh wide rice noodles and I would be shocked if they were not able to source it from a local manufacturer.

Pros: Friendly Staff, Convenient Location

Cons: Food Is Unremarkable, Small Dining Area

Disappointing

Tried this place after seeing all the positive review but was very disappointed.

The "meat" was way too greasy and plain, this reminded me of real meat which I wouldn’t eat. The chicken popcorn (305) was very plain and came without sauce, the sweet and sour rib (85) wasn't nutritious or healthy, and the rice noodles with veggie "beef" (31) was too much like meat. Overall it left a bad taste in my mouth and at the end I felt more bloated than full, I do not recommend.

The free tea was good.

Nice All-Vegan Chinese

Only got to try one main dish - the imitation duck chow mein, as well as a taro roll and both were tasty. These are big portion sizes and work best for sharing. Friendly staff. Nothing fancy inside. Hoping to go back sometime and try some more menu items.

Pros: Good value, Big selection

Traveling vegans

Got take out. General’s chicken was decent but eggplant tofu dish was watery. Appetizer dumplings were good. No rice. In retrospect, probably have to order that as an extra.

Pros: Very quick service, Fully vegan

Cons: Inconsistent- food. Check ratings before you order, Need rice for the sauce

Not great

Perhaps it was just what we ordered, but the food was very heavy and greasy. Soy beef left an awful lingering taste. The menu was very extensive though, so perhaps if I went back I would avoid the noodle dishes. Overall friendly vibes and quick service.

Pros: Extensive menu, Low prices, Complimentary green tea

Cons: Would avoid anything with soy beef, Heavy, greasy food, Chipped plates

Delicious, filling food with lots of variety. I’ve enjoyed all the dishes I’ve tried but the fried rice with olive leaves is my favourite!
