Surprised to find this on a beach - Edit
For such a small area, this place seems like it shouldn’t be here - or rather I wouldn’t expect it. Very cool though!

Worth the trip - Edit
There are so many items I wanted to try but didn't have the time. I had the Bonobo bowl. It was great, but I just wish the tofu and cauliflower weren't fried as I wasn't expecting it to be. It is kind of expensive, but that seems to be the case in NZ!

Had a wonderful breakfast (Bene Bono) but honestly I'd love to try everything from the menu. The food was amazing, service quick, the place is cosy and beautifully located just off the beach. I'll be back!

Amazing banh mi - Edit
Wasn't very hungry when we walked by here but I really wanted to try something, and couldn't resist the banh mi (in the cabinet). It was incredible, one of my favorite sandwiches I've ever had. If we'd had more time and appetite I would have loved to have tried more. Seemed very reasonably priced as well.

Highlight of Sumner - Edit
Great to have more plantbased cafes in Christchurch. Love that they also cater to gluten free here as well. Can recommend both of the plantbased burgers the Bonobo Burger and the Portobello burger. Most delicious chocolate muffin/brownie I have eaten. Not dry like most gluten free vegan brownies. Always great to see the Karma Drinks range stocked. Looks like they have changed their fries from beer battered now but I do not think they are celiac due to other food items in the same fryer.

I love the vibe of this cafe. I just stopped by for a snack because I wasn’t extremely hungry. I ordered the starter of fried tofu with garlic aioli and it was very good. They had a lot of lunch options. It seemed a very popular place.

Best Café In Christchurch Hands Down!! - Edit
This is the best café in Christchurch.. hands down!! The very best vegan food around, & their coffee is to live for!! We had La Tomatina with the most incredible flavours, & a 'Bonobowl'.. most delicious lunch ever. I'll be back to try everything else on the menu! Thanks Bonobo team for the great vibes, we felt so looked after & will be back a million times 🩷

Indoor and outdoor seating. I had a juice as was too full for any food. My friend had the savoury scone which looked interesting and appetizing. Wish I had longer so could return to explore more of the options!

10/10 - Edit
Came over from Melbourne and found this 100% vegan cafe on Happy Cow. So glad I did. The food is delicious. My non vegan friend couldn't tell the difference and was really impressed. The staff are awesome and we had a really good chat with the owner who was more than happy to share some recipe info when I asked how they made their baked cheesecake. Best I've ever had. Highly recommend Bonobo Cafe and will definitely be back.

Amazing food and friendly staff - Edit
The most delicious vegan food. They have just extended their menu to include even more amazing options. Whole food options as well as delicious treats. Great variety and super friendly staff. The owners are always happy to help and give advice. Proceeds are going to them wanting to start an animal sanctuary. Very family friendly and nothing is a bother. Wish I lived closer and could go here every day!! They also now have amazing kids meals!!

Great all-vegan spot - Edit
I’ve visited twice now and enjoyed both visits. I tried the veggie fries, soup of the day (roasted cauliflower), and the big breakfast. All were nice and I wasn’t left hungry. I also got a mushroom frittata to takeaway - also yummy. And the coffee and service are both great too. Very busy on weekends, so go on a week day if you can.
