The restaurant has nice but really small terrace. They have a selection of vegetarian and vegan food. We tried the quiche (not vegan) and the croissant ragout (vegan). They were both really good. I asked for the croissant with salad but it was a mistake as I thought it would be a side salad but no, it was a huge plate of vegetables, rice and corn and I was already filled after my croissant...

They have an interesting menu, a mix of plates from several plates. I tried both the udon noddles and the vegan pasta (which was more like a lasagna) and they were both amazing.

Really lovely food, I had the mixed vegan platter which had a selection of different dishes on one plate. The only downside was it was a tad expensive for what you got.

Delicious and a lot of options! Ordered the meal of the day, which was a large plate full of different things. Also a lot of vegan dessert options (pie!!). My non-vegan friends like to go here too because of the vegetarian options (all though I would love it if they were 100% vegan ;))

An old favourite of Amsterdam - Edit
De Bolhoed is a pretty unique place, a bit of the Amsterdam of yesteryear still alive and kicking. It's a kind of hippy place with a homemade and relaxed atmosphere. The staff and the ambience are totally alternative which is extremely rare nowadays in the old centre. The food is good, wholesome and well cooked but for me it's horrendously overpriced. €18 for the mixed plate is just crazy, even in the canal ring. If they took their prices down a little I would be in here the whole time, but as it stands I don't want to pay that kind of money for what is basically the kind of food you can buy in a health food store. Shame though, other than that it's a really great place.

Both times I was disappointed when the food came, but as soon as I taste it.. I change my mind!
They know how to make rice and veggies tasty.
It is a bit overpriced (18 euro's) when you think about it, but delicious nonetheless. Especially since they don't provide table service outside(they do bring you your food, but ask you to wait for your drink when ordering at the bar so you can take it with you yourself).
I love the hippie vibes, but it's not for everyone haha.
Pros: daily changing vegan platter, laid back, outside terrace
Cons: no outside service, a bit overpriced, toilet wasn't too clean

Many vegan and vegetarian options. The vegan sample plate with small portions of several dishes was great and very filling. My family enjoyed the quiche and Mexican dish as well. A great dinner!

We had a delightful dinner here. At first I thought the daily vegan special menu had a lot of entrees to choose from. It runs out that each they are all included on the plate. Each item could have been the basis of a substantial meal though, so this was a pleasant surprise. My plate that day included a lovely tofu-sesame strudel, a nice mushroom with chestnuts, quinoa pilaf, red lentils and endives. It was imaginatively prepared and very well done.

Food is always good. They've increased the vegan options over the years, without jumping on the hipster vegan food hype. So expect some wholesome, hearty wel prepared food with lentils, bulgur, seitan etc. Oh, and they have the fluffiest red cat :)

Located in a very good location for tourists. I chose this restaurant because it was close from our hotel. By the time we entered, half the tables were reserved (Sat. 6 pm). Some baby chairs. As written in other reviews, the interior is a little worn down and it looks a little not- so-clean, but the food was good. I had the Vegan dish of the day(17 euro), and it was warm, unique and very tasty. I became very full and couldn't have dessert, but there were varieties of desserts and so I'd like to try them next time.

I ate here twice in the one day it was so nice. Really great food, really friendly workers, beautiful/individualistic decor and pleasant atmosphere. Its located in a great area (close to anne frank house) and is easy to find. The service was a little slow, specifically in evening when it was very busy, but not too bad. The owner’s cat also wonders around the place and is very cute. :)
