Slow service and mediocre food - Edit
I really wanted to like this restaurant as we picked it as our only stop in Victoria. However the service was very slow (over one hour from sitting down to getting our food) and not very attentive, the server ignored us for the first 20 min we were sitting down and pretty much the rest of the time after getting our order. The food was mediocre at best. Not bad but not what I would expect at a fully vegan restaurant. The summer rolls were plain; Mac bowl was good but nothing special, and the tortilla that came with the taco bahn mi was falling apart. I love health-conscious spots but this was not it for me. I was surprised by the very good reviews, so maybe just an off night…

Amazing plant-based food - Edit
I had an early dinner alone, including a wonderful potato and herb soup and their macaroni, which was quite possibly the best plant-based mac I've ever had. I did, of course, grab some dessert to go for later. This place is awesome.

I got the Green Bowl for dinner at Be Love, Victoria, BC. 🇨🇦❤️ It included dark greens, bok choy, broccoli, cabbage, red onion, coconut green thai curry, brown rice, cilantro, scallions, and toasted cashews. The staff was friendly and attentive.

Enjoyed a wonderful meal at be love the first night of our visit to Victoria. We’ve eaten here several times and it does not disappoint. Overall experience was great. We shared the special fettuccine and the pesto melt. The pesto melt was the favorite. Coffee and dessert was excellent as well.

Our best meals in Victoria - Edit
We were visiting Victoria for several days and visited Be Love our first evening. We were delighted to find out that all the dishes were both vegan AND gluten free, a very rare combination. The menu is innovative and inviting, and the house cocktails are quite unique. Our first dish, the Meze plate, blew us away with onion jam, fermented soft cheese, tomatoes, peas, teff flatbread, warm olives, chutney, and cukes. Excellent! The green curry was also very good. We got a slice of cheesecake to go, highly recommended. We loved the food so much that we returned for two more dinners later in the week.

Classic pretentious health-oriented vegan stereotype spot. We had fried tofu sticks and bahn mi tacos.

As much as I prefer to give vegan joints business, I'd skip this spot for a better value.

It can be hard to get a good selection of vegan food but to have it ALL gluten-free too?! And in a beautiful space with art!

We first found this restaurant several years ago and realized that it was a Victoria gem! The food is always wonderful, the drinks are amazing, the service is exceptional. The main menu is fairly stable but they offer seasonal specials that are usually great additions. My only complaint with those is that we have fallen in love with a few items in the past that we can only long for now. Examples include shepherd's pie and nettle lasagne.
Read moreWe recently learned from a team member that the founders recently sold the business to someone else but that they plan to "keep the same vibe". I do not know if they sold to a local individual, a group, or a "soul-less" corporation. We'll just have to see about that.
This last trip we ordered the melts and the green bowl. The melts were so good! and the green bowls were consistently good.

Tasty vegan and gluten-free cuisine. I enjoyed the mushroom fettuccine, which was on their seasonal menu. The sauce was exceptionally creamy and flavourful. There's a good selection of local wines and ciders. Service was friendly and attentive. Our server even gave us a complimentary chocolate fudge!

Everything at BeLove was perfect. The service was attentive and I appreciated that he helped us decide on what to order. The house made root beer was refreshing and unique. The tofu fries were yummy as was the pesto burger, black tan tan bowl, and salted caramel bar. We were told by our waiter that they are entirely vegan - Yay! We went twice on our five day trip and would have gone a third time if it was closer.

Also great for date night or to treat omnivores to demonstrate how delicious plant based can be. They change their menu seasonally, lots of local fresh produce in their food. The flavours and their twist on some dishes are so dang good. Oh and try some of their unique cocktails and mocktails too. You’ve got to try this place.

Be Love has exactly what I look for in a dining experience! Plant forward, clean food that makes you feel good, unique and seasonal offerings, in a slightly more upscale environment than you can usually find as a vegan.
Read moreStandouts were the quesadilla, the seasonal soup (a potato & pea curry), and the green bowl. Ask for a side of the house hot sauce! I didn’t get to try the desserts but they looked amazing as well.
I managed to convince my omnivorous family to dine here with me and unfortunately they were less impressed, so I will caution that those whose palettes are accustomed to more salty, oily food may find the dishes here lacking flavour. I, however, was very impressed!
