Delicious and clearly labelled vegan items - Edit
Tucked in a little walkthrough plaza between the Main Street of Katoomba and the large carpark of Supermarket store Woolworths you will find the best vegan aware and delicious Thai food in the upper mountains.

Plenty of delicious vegan options with good sources of protein - Edit
Great to see filling and tasty sources of planted based protein automatically included in most of the vegan dishes and veganized versions of non-vegan dishes (e.g. buddha bowl included tofu, tofu skin and black beans among the veges, pad thai subbed tofu for the meat/egg). Loved everything we ordered. Impressed to see they even had vegan icecream.

Solid vegan options - Edit
This small but very busy restaurant has a decent amount of vegan options in a town with no vegan restaurants. Came here with a group of 6 (3 omnis, 2 vegans, 1 vegetarian) and they were super accommodating and service was pretty fast. Vegan options clearly labelled, both in the vegan and vegetarian mains section of the menu and throughout the rest of the menu. Four of us got vegan options and all of us enjoyed them. I got the 5 spice noodle soup and all the veggies were very fresh and the flavours were well balanced although a little on the sweet side - I think it worked but it may not be to everyone's tastes. They brought us some fresh chopped chillis on request, which went well with the soup. Serving sizes were generous. The venue is quite small and a little cramped, and the seats are not very comfortable, but still a good option if you're looking to eat out or get takeaway here.

Great dinner - Edit
Really enjoyed our salt and pepper trio and basil chili eggplant with a side of wild rice, ordered from the 'vegetarian and vegan' section of the menu. Cosy, busy restaurant on the night we visited - recommend booking - with good service, food coming out quickly and reasonably priced.

Lovely cafe with vegan adaptions for many meals - Edit
Many of the meals can be adapted to be vegan and the staff are really helpful and understanding. I had Nasi Goreng which was delicious. It came with a variety of different tofu textures and lots of vegetables. Will definitely be back.

Classic Thai food done well! - Edit
Basil Nut has really friendly staff and offers several vegan options, the 2 I tried were really good! I ordered the Ginger tofu and the Buddha Bowl and the dressings on both were really flavourful. I'd definitely recommend visiting Basil Nut if you're in Katoomba!

YUM & YUM - Edit
A separate menu/section which indicates vegan/veganisable dishes. I always confirm that I want the meals vegan as a reminder so had no issue with mislabeled items. The food we got (vegan curry, one of the stir fries) was absolutely delicious. So fresh and tasty. My partner (omni) and I were very impressed and were tempted to come again although we were only in the area for three days 🤪🤩

Mislabeled items in the menu - Edit
Went to try some items marked as vegan or can be made vegan, when ordering I decided to confirm and for my surprise the waitress told me they were not even vegetarian as it had prawns in the sauce, we left without eating. Please be aware and ask twice before ordering food from this place.
