Outstanding - Edit
We had a fantastic time, with excellent service, good atmosphere and of course exquisite vegan food.
Read moreWe particularly appreciated the explanation of the "normal" wine pairing as consisting of natural wines and being more funky and fun, so we opted for that rather than the more expensive prestige wines. And the wines were fantastic.
Note there are nine dishes in the menu but the paired wines begin with the third course.
Also, if you have a sweet tooth, note that both the desserts we had were not very sweet, which we liked. We were told they "don't really do sweet".

Great vegan fine dining restaurant - Edit
A very interesting vegan restaurant offering a fine-dining-style menu. We were pleased to be served by Dina (or Dinah?) who was very friendly and a great host, with great presentation skills (keep this guy in the staff!). The 9-course tasting menu was really good, providing a fantastic combination of flavors.
Read moreMy only critique are 2 things:
1) the environment was a bit loud (both due to people talking and the background music which was a bit too punchy) so the place would benefit by some acoustic treatment, as we had a hard time hearing waiters' explanation of the dishes.
2) One of the staff members was reprimanding several waiters for different things (one being a glass not perfectly shiny, judging from the faces he was making). I don't like seeing people being reprimanded, specially not when they were 1 person short that day and you could clearly see them running from table to table making their best efforts. All of the waiters that served us were great and friendly, so this was totally unnecessary.
Will be looking forward to returning soon!
PS: sorry about the desert picture, we ate 2 before realizing we forgot to take the picture :)
Pros: All sustainable concept, Fantastic mix of flavors, Great hosts
Cons: Noisy ambiance

High End Dining Experience - Edit
An almost perfect dining experience, with fascinating culinary delights, attentive staff, well crafted dishes and great pairings. The only downside: very expensive; be prepared to pay for the delights. Possibly the most expensive meal my wife and I have ever had. Worth it.

I have eaten there three times and it is a culinary experience. Sadly, the staff made us feel like stupid vegans last time we were there🥺

We asked if the staff there were also vegan, and the answer was “ew, no way! They prefer us not to be vegan because then we can tell if the food is good or not, a normal vegan chef would serve boiled mushrooms, while here we’ve treated your mushrooms like a steak”

Absolutely Olympic! Wow! - Edit
What an experience. My fiancé and I had one of the best culinary experiences of our lives here. We are regular Michelins star fine dining goers and I think this restaurant has gone under the radar some how. What advanced dishes - the combination of atmosphere, service, food and the impeccable wine pairing deserves some further recognition. Magnificent! #Veganuary

Worth trying - Edit
I got the short menu, but wish I would have gotten the full tasting menu as I was still hungry after. I mentioned when I made reservations that I would not have dessert. I thought they would offer to substitute something savory but they did not. So I paid for dessert but didn’t get a final course. 😐 The dishes were good but I’ve had similar dishes in other restaurants in Berlin (like Oukan). I think their chawanmushi is actually better than Oukan because they add some chestnut and Brussels sprouts at the bottom for texture. (I struggle not to gag on soft pudding like textures.) my favorite dish was the Blue Oyster Mushroom but I also want to mention the onion tea and spread as being really unique. I’m glad this place exists. They’re very creative and I appreciate their zero waste policy. I’d love to see what they come up with I future seasons.

A Must Try New Restaurant in Copenhagen - Edit
While planning things we can do on our trip to Copenhagen, we learned about Ark on YouTube. We were especially attracted by their philosophy on working towards a more sustainable dining experience. We immediately booked and compared to the other famous fine-dining restaurant in CPH, Ark is a lot more affordable and fully plant-based.
Read moreFor our dinner, we had a delectable degustation/omakase menu. My partner isn't vegan, but my oh my, he was blown away by how good the dishes were. Their makers truly celebrate the seasonal produce and mushrooms while giving non-vegans or previously non-vegans a familiar feel but much better taste. We didn't do the drinks pairing but we ordered a few drinks that were quite refreshing also.
We were served all the amazing food and drinks by friendly and knowledgeable staff in a lovely setting, with the light dimmed to perfection. Ark is definitely a must try for when you're on holiday in Copenhagen, or if you're lucky to be a local, this is something you would want to go back to again and again. I know we will definitely when we visit Copenhagen again.

Room for improvement - Edit
Returning to Ark for the second time for their 9-course tasting menu, I couldn’t help but compare it to my first visit. Initially, a solid half of the courses were decent, with 4-5 dishes standing out. This time, however, the experience was significantly less memorable. A heavy reliance on sugars and unhealthy oils were dominating several dishes detracting from the culinary experience I was hoping for.
Read moreOf the nine, only two managed to resonate with me: ‘blue oyster mushroom’ and ‘lion's mane’. These dishes were the silver lining in an otherwise clouded experience.
As it stands I wouldn’t return.

Top level vegan fine dining - Edit
The selection in ingredients is amazing here. The staff gathers as much ingredients as the can locally by foraging to create authentic flavors. Tried vegan caviar from fermented black garlic, small dishes with flowers and some great mushrooms from their own mushroom farm.

Worth every penny - Edit
Expensive restaurant, with a green Michelin star. Totally worth it. Dishes were beautiful, fresh, of the season. Very tasty, we took the eight course tasting menu. We were full at the end, just perfect. Shared the wine option between the two of us. Just the right amount for two people not used to consuming large amounts of alcohol. Staff was very attentive.

Price of the tasting Menu is not disclosed until you get the check, which is comparable to a 2-3 michelin star restaurant. While the portions and dish quality was adequate, they did not have the consistency of experience expected in that price range.

Went for a tasting menu evening meal and the food was stunning. Already had the advantage of being a fully plant based menu, and the food is some of the best I've ever had. Whilst pricey, the food is worth the money. Staff were great, service was prompt and it was a truly unforgettable experience

Dazzling Vegan Fine Dining where every course is a Showstopper - Edit
In our opinion, this is one of the best vegan fine dining restaurants in the world, and we have been to our share of worthy contenders. The nine course tasting menu with wine pairings may cost you a week's wages but it is well worth it. Locally sourced and foraged ingredients are served on artful plates with contrasting flavors and textures. Expect the unexpected (miso and truffle together in the perfect umami glaze for a grilled Blue Oyster Mushroom -- Turnip, White Radish, Apple, Macadamia salad, and on and on) and expect the meal to take at least two hours. The pacing is perfect but you will want to spend enough time with each course to fully explore the depth and complexity of the colors, shapes, and flavors, and oh yes, the wine paired with each course.
