Checked it in January 2017 - Edit
The updated prices for this place:
Mon-Fri: R$ 32
Sat-Sun: R$ 37
The selection was lower but the food looked good.
They did not have labels though, so I had to ask the lady what options are gluten free. About half of the selection was gluten free (mostly veggies, not proteins).
There was a soy stew that looked good but the soy used was not organic, which means it is most likely GMO soy ;(

A must-try for all vegetarians - Edit
Best vegan food I've ever had. Most options are vegan.

highly recommended!! - Edit
The buffet is incredibly good! All fresh, many different choices, almost everything is vegan.
Very cozy with a lot of seating, seems so be pretty busy during the lunch hours, but it's worth the trip even with a short waiting time.
Very good coffee!
In comparison to other buffets in São Paulo I really liked that the cooked dishes still taste very fresh and not like they've been sitting there for long. My favorite were the tasty sweet potatoes and the kale mix, also the best coffee I had so far.
Pros: fresh, organic, vegan , good coffee, comfortable

Excellent and relaxing lunch - Edit
One of the best vegetarian restaurants in Sao Paulo. They only have a lunch buffet, so if you want a menu and table service, this place isn't for you. The buffet had a good selection and the food was tasty. Not as wide a selection of choices as other vegetarian buffets in Sao Paulo (such as Lotus Vegetariano), but certainly enough choices. The vegan items were marked (most dishes were vegan). A waiter/waitress brings fresh juices (for an extra cost). The buffet was very reasonably priced. The atmosphere is very relaxing - an old house converted to a restaurant, with lost of small rooms upstairs. Nice pictures on the walls and cozy furniture - a good place to relax for lunch. Too bad they're not open for dinner - would be nice to have a vegetarian restaurant in this neighborhood.
Pros: Good selection of vegan choices, Reasonable price, Nicely decorated
Cons: Only buffet lunch

Great - Edit
Apfel is an all-you-can-eat buffet in Jardins, nearby Avenida Paulista. The buffet contents change regularly; everything is vegetarian, with the numerous vegan items clearly marked.
The food is very good and includes some Brazilian items that might be hard to find elsewhere. The restaurant seems to be a long-ago converted home; you can pick various rooms to sit in, including a few rooms upstairs.
Pros: great food, wide selection
Cons: few vegan desserts in the buffet

Cool - Edit
I often go to this restaurant, which is well located and it is placed in a charming house. The food is excellent and you have many options for hot dishes. The desserts are included in the fixed price. Juices and beverages are paid apart. All the staff is friendly and they have another branch in downtown, which is also really good. I recommend this restaurant, for sure!
Pros: excellent food, nice vibe, friendly staff

Trick for vegans - Edit
The food is good, but as it is a vegetarian restaurant, vegans can be surprised by the few options suitable some days. On Sundays, you pay R$33,00 for an all-you-can-eat buffet of salad + hot dishes + desserts. Water is free. If you ask for a natural juice, you'll have to wait for it until you finish eating (the service is slow).
The salad and the desserts buffet have no labels, so you may ask the staff about the vegan options.
I particularly don't like going out to eat if my options are rice + beans and fruits for desserts. And this is what happened today. Disappointed!
Pros: Location, Ambience
Cons: Price, Few vegan options, No vegan labels

Quality and value have sharply dropped - Edit
This place has gone downhill. They no longer include juices in the price (but of course didn't reduce it), and here on a Sunday when they charge a premium, the selections have got cheaper, less varied, and poorer quality. A great disappointment. This was a great Sunday spot as it was one of few places open then, but I will go to Nutrisom on Sundays in future.
Hers my prior review:
Many buffet places are only open weekdays, many close on Saturdays and most on Sundays. This one at 2pm on a Sunday was extremely busy. Soup was excellent, all items I tried were great including vastly superior vegan acaraje to Vegethus - although despite being so busy, most hot food items were lukewarm at best. Still, for R$19 weekdays and R$22 weekends all-you-can-eat, a great lunchtime find.

Very good! - Edit
The place is very neat and friendly. The food is excellent and has vegan-friendly options. The owner is suuuuper friendly! The price is fair for São Paulo (though SP is an expensive city). Worth the visit!

So good and so cool - Edit
I walked into the restaurant one minute after they closed down the buffet, and was so sad. They were kind enough to let me still take a table. The food was delicious and quite varied. Great selection of hot and cold plates, and a really good dessert. The staff was exceptionally nice. Cute little storefront too. So charming.
Pros: Friendly, Great buffet! , Delicious
Cons: none

Great Value for great taste - Edit
I went for lunch yesterday since it was close to the hotel we were staying and after a long flight from NY, we were really hungry. Eben though we reached close to their closing time, the entire spread was very much there. The wait staff was very polite and helpful and explained everything in English. The selection, quality and taste was excellent. The 2 soups in particular were some of the best I have had any where. For 22 reals, this is a very filling and satisfying meal.
Pros: Value, Taste, Helpful
good food, decent price. - Edit
I ate at this restaurant 2 days in a row. It was open Sunday which was a bonus as most of the other restaurants were closed. The food was as fresh as possible for a buffet and the dishes changed from day to day. soups, rice, plenty of hot dishes, lots of fresh salads and good deserts. dishes were nutritonally balanced and plenty of vegan options also. weekday all you can eat buffet was 22 reals and on the weekend it was 25 reals. good value and friendly waiters. would go back and do recomend.

Food is OK - Edit
It's a friendly pace with great staff. The food is served in a buffet when you pay a flat rate and eat how much you want to.
The food is beautiful and they serve a great quality of options, but everything is just OK for me, nothing is really delicious, you know? For me they must try new spices.
The best thing was the vegetarian feijoada.
I think the price a little bit expensive: 22 reais in the week and 25 (I guess) in the weekends. The orange juice was 4 reais.
They have two units, one in the downtown and other in the Jardim's neighborhood (I just went once to the Jardim's, which is near to Paulista Avenue).
Pros: great quality, great staff
Cons: a little bit expensive

i would recommend any vegetarian or vegan eat here. or just anyone who wants good variety and quality food. lunch buffet was 16 pesos during the week and 18 on weekends. there was a good variety. 3 soups. salads. entrees. desserts. juices. i would say about 80% of their buffet is vegan. all the vegan items are labeled with a V on the name of the food. i ate there both days i was in sao paulo. i cannot say enough good things about this place honestly.
Pros: variety, vegan-friendly, good quality

Jeffrey 02 Nov 2009 - Hi Neekole, I liked your review of this place. I always prefer the buffet places so I can have some of everything instead of rolling the dice and choosing off the menu!

Just exellent!!! - Edit
We went there pretty hungry and were lucky enough to find it still open at 3pm...(closed behind us). They had a very yummy all-you-can-eat buffet with seitan and soya choices and tons of deserts. drinks come free with the one-time charge for the buffet. They have a nice garden for outside eating on top of all that. Apfel rules!!!
Pros: Nice garden, awesome buffet, very friendly
Cons: hard to find, closes 3.30 pm
