mazing - Edit
We got a number 50 bus from the city centre to Anand Sweets in Harehills. It took about 20 minutes. The café has two big windows facing south-ish so it's flooded with light. It's small and neat. The service is excellent, quick, polite, friendly. The food is absolutely delicious (we both had thalis). The café name is a misnomer because at least half of the food is savoury, not sweet. The prices are pretty reasonable. I'm a regular visitor and will be back as soon as I can. Apparently another Anand has opened, in Headingley - I must try it out.

Great food and excellent value - Edit
Really good food for such a great price! Not super fancy, just exactly what you want. Highly recommend the thali as you get such a range of tastes.

There is a broad selection of vegan curries, sundries & sweets available from this restaurant. The menu is very clear and offers a wide choice for vegans. Amazing samosas, flavoursome curries and all at an amazing price. We loved everything we ordered!

Lovely curry, I like the spinach dumpling one. The sweets are really good and they will advise which are vegan. The onion paratha is good too. Good prices.

One of the best - Edit
Anand’s is wonderful. Extremely friendly staff, lunch thali for a fiver and a huge variety of sweets. This is my favourite place in Leeds. You can tell how it is Indian food that tastes much more authentic and is also way healthier that what we might know from other places.

Lush Sweets & Savouries - Edit
There are plenty of delicious vegan sweets on offer in the Anand counter. They all have a little label listing the ingredients, and I've found staff really helpful. Despite the name, it's not just sweets here, there are plenty of savoury options too. The counter has a selection of savoury snacks (the samosas are the best I've ever had), and they serve excellent curries. Everything I've tasted has been lush; wonderful flavours. Plus the prices are very reasonable. There are a few tables in the simply decorated cafe where you can eat in, or take away is available too.

Sweets (and savoury!) - Edit
Whilst at the Northern Vegan Festival in Leeds, we popped to Anand Sweets stall to pick up a few goodies. Freshly baked delicacies were perfectly seasoned, very tasty,

I hope to be able to visit the full shop sometime in the future to enjoy some more :)

spice just right - Edit
Love this place!! always willing to make things more or less spicy (where applicable). friendly & welcoming staff. Always open to suggestions. Most things can be 'adjusted' to be made vegan. Lots of 'non-gluten containing ingredients' available. This has been and will stay my favourite Indian food joint.

Heavenly - Edit
This place is right on a busy road, so quite noisy. The front door has two or three steep steps; disabled customers are referred to the side door, which sadly still has a step... The toilet cubicle is right off the seating area and the electric hand dryer is unfortunately IN the seating area, so speech became inaudible when it was in use. And now that I'm finished complaining, let's get to the food! The sweets are sensational. At the time of my visit their website showed only three vegan options, but to my pleasant surprise the website was wrong and there were eight! The staff filled an entire gift box for me and wrote a V on it to stop its getting mixed up with anything cowy. My flexitarian mother reports that the vegetarian sweets are very good too. We ate in and had satisfactory and very cheap curries; we also bought savouries to take away, which were uniformly delicious. Big thumbs up.

Fantastic - Edit
All the food at Anands is Veggie and a very large proportion is Vegan (they have a menu that lets you know which are which. They specialise in Sweets but I prefer the savoury stuff. Living close by it is now part of our weekend ritual to get lunch from here. You can sit in or take out. The food is faultless. Of particular note are the samosas and veg cutlets. The curries are also worth a go (some of the best in the area). It's all really good value too. A real gem of a place. Friendly staff and great food.

magnificent spicy samosas - Edit
Savouries are out of this world here i have to say.Back in 2008 i spent a fair bit of cash on these when passing by on many occasions.Spicy, fiery, carb filled treats, these samosas are bliss on a plate.

Lovely snacks. - Edit
Friendly service here at Anands. A great variety of indian sweets, however, i favour the savoury snacks. The samosas when just prepared are magnificent. There are also pakoras to pick up, and a few other things, including a 'pie like' delicacy. Very very nice with the mint sauce.

Pros: Great snacks, Pretty reasonable, Can cater for parties!!
