Great food but most desserts were not available - Edit
Food was very good and the staff was kind and made ordering easy. Unfortunately most of their desserts were not available at that time (lunch)

Great - Edit
While we arrived during the last hour of its opening hours and most things were sold out, we had a good time and the food was very tasty. Staff was very nice and welcoming. It took some time for the food to arrive, but it was worth it.

Good! - Edit
Finally had lunch here. My non-vegan friend was amazed that it tasted exactly like animal meat, and he would believe so if no one had told him.
Read moreAlthough their pancakes were delicious, I found it overrated and overpriced. But there aren’t many vegan Japanese style pancakes, I guess it’s worth a try.

The food was okey, nothing very special. Some burgers and currys. We went there to tried the vegan pancakes and at 2pm there were none of the pancakes available.

Tutte le portate del menù molto buone, ma spesso c’è poca scelta perché molti dei piatti non sono disponibili. In ogni caso tutto quello che abbiamo mangiato era superlativo

Great pancakes 🥞 - Edit
Interesting experience. We got there at 12pm (only been open for 30mins) and they were already booked out. We reserved a spot for 1:30, and when we got there the place was basically empty. It was also freezing and staff couldn’t turn up the heat. We wanted to order the strawberry pancakes but they already ran out so got the seasonal fruit one. It was also the 6year anniversary of the store so they said they would give us free tea, but it never actually made it to the table. Anyway the meal of burger and fries was okay, but the pancakes were delicious! Warm and fluffy. Great for a cold day. I would have given the place a 5 out the service left a little to be desired and the other food was just alright.

The in charge/(Owner) was not nice - Edit
Usualy , I dont write a bad review , But this is exception , we arrived at 20:02 , while the restaurant closed at 21:00 ( we haven't know the last order was at 20:00 ) , we also explained that we have try to come the days before.... but it seems this guy is talking with no empathy/impolite(which is the opposite of Japanese calture)

Fresh & filling - Edit
This was my favorite place we ate in Kyoto. Lots of drink options - the cream soda & tea are really good. The teriyaki bowl was very filling & flavorful. The pancakes were delicious as well. Staff was very friendly and there are 2 floors for seating.

Disappointed - Edit
Food was average at best. Most of the food on the menu is deep fried. The service was lousy, I had to ask for a menu and ended up sharing with another guest.

Reliable and so delicious - Edit
After wondering around the Nishiki markets we were starving so decided to grab a late lunch. The space was packed but they found us a table really quickly. The staff member was really nice, and our food was delicious.

Disappointed - Edit
I've been to both this location (before it became an ain soph branch) and ain soph in tokyo before, so I had high expectations. The cart looks good and offers a few choices but after the first few hungry bites nothing tasted good anymore, not even the fries. Not sure if I was feeling off before but I definitely was afterwards. If the food tastes weird please don't force yourselves to finish it!

Extremely slow service - Edit
Beyond disappointed. Sat down 10 minutes before another couple came in and they were served first, but not only were they served first, our food didn’t arrive until after they had already finished eating! A woman came in 30 minutes after us and was also served first. No communication as to why it was taking so long either. Then when the food arrive the portions were ridiculously small.

Great range of vegan food, including GF - Edit
We ate here a few times while in Kyoto and it was consistently good. The range of options at lunch is great - I love the salad bowls. It’s a shame they’re not available at dinner, but there are still plenty of GF options. The staff are really lovely and it’s a nice place to sit & relax.

Western Comfort Food - Edit
I had the burger, a side of Japan fried chicken and the ice cream sundae for desert. Food was average Western comfort food. It hit the spot for what I was looking for - but was far from amazing. That being said in Japan this was a rare visit on my travels and the JFC was good. I’d definitely visit again if in Kyoto. Friendly staff, quick service, very good central location.

Not bad! 3.5* - Edit
Inside the cafe was really cute and the service was lovely too! I thought the food was pretty good but honestly nothing super special, and a bit more pricey compared to other options available in Kyoto so it didn’t feel super worth stopping in. The matcha latte was great though!!

Limited menu but decent - Edit
The cutlet burger was good, didn’t love the teriyaki soy chicken. Pancakes were very good - not too sweet but more of a bread consistency than I expected (I don’t typically love pancakes but I liked this about them). One of the pricier meals we’ve had in Kyoto

Fave meal in Kyoto - Edit
Favourite meal in Kyoto. They have a couple of GF options, namely the salads and they have a tofu based omelette. My salad had the omelette and chicken style nuggets which were tasty. Fries were also vegan and GF. We went at lunch and no queue.

American style vegan food - Edit
I went for the matcha pancakes but they were sold out 😢 I did enjoy the heavenly pancakes though! We tried the soy cutlet burger (was yum) and fries. Could miss out on the karaage as it's not the best soy meat I've had - I recommend adding mayo for dipping sauce. The creamy soda was so good! If you're from Australia, it is like a "spider" drink.

Warm atmosphere, beautiful food - Edit
We first came to Ain Soph Journey in 2018, and it really hasn't changed at all, much to our delight! Unfortunately, some of the menu items I remember loving (i.e. the pancakes) are unavailable right now due to limited access to ingredients, but honestly, there's enough deliciousness on the menu to make up for the absences.
Read moreWould strongly recommend the Green Curry and Brown Rice, it was so wholesome, very filling, and made me feel so much better after a gruelling flight from Aus! My partner had the Ripple Cheeseburger, which was also amazing, for those who love a burger/fries combo.
Also, PLEASE try the cream soda, it really is next level delicious.
Atmosphere and service are both amazing as well, the service ladies are always happy to help, and speak some English.
