Kyoto branch of Ain Soph vegan restaurant from Tokyo, opened here in 2018. Features plant-based fusion cuisine. Sample dishes such as mushroom hayashi rice, taco rice, and green curry with brown rice. For dessert try matcha pancakes, creme brulee, vegan cheesecake, or ice cream soda. Lunchtime food is served till 4pm. Note that a minimum is required for card payment. Often closed for dinner various days of the week so check their Instagram for details or call in advance. Open Mon 11:30am-8:00pm, Tue 11:30am-3:00pm, Wed-Sun 11:30am-8:00pm. Last order is 1 hour before closing time. Irregular hours, please check website and Instagram.

Really good pesto pasta, nice and innovative spinach curry. Highlight for us was the burger with fries. Delicious patty. Loved the soy latte and soy matcha too. Overall great service and happy experience. Loved how the alliums free items are clearly stated in the menu

We had the vegan burger and the pancakes. The Burger was amazing with a thick and meaty patty so if you dont like the taste of meat its not for you. The vegan cheese was amazing i never had such good vegan cheese before. The pancakes were delicous too especially the vanilla icecream

After visiting the Tokyo ain soph we had to go back, this time in Kyoto. The burger option was great, very oniony and bbq like. Rum and raised ice cream and pudding was great too.

Wonderful dinner - I left so full I think I died and went to heaven. I had the Teriyaki soy chicken plate as the main and it was great! Also had the chocolate-banana pancakes. The portion was huge! Both were absoloutely delicious.

Just Ok—food wasn’t served hot - Edit
I really wanted to give this place four stars, but here’s why I only gave it 3/5: the burgers we ordered were actually not bad, but I had to deduct a point because it was served lukewarm-ish; almost cold not cold cold, but just not hot and fresh off the grill either. It made me wonder if the burgers just sat for a while? Or are they frozen and it just wasn’t cooked long enough? Again, flavors were decent (4/5) but the temperature of it made me enjoy it much less than I would have otherwise. This also led me to start nitpicking at things I normally don’t have a problem with. So here are those issues: compared to a lot of other restaurants that we have been to in Japan, this one looked slightly rundown. Almost like it wasn’t maintained, but I’m not sure if that was just the vintage cottage style decor? This place is by no means expensive, but it is a little bit higher priced than average compared to other restaurants we had been to so the fact that our burgers were served cold-ish and the place didn’t feel clean made me a little bit uneasy. I have heard great things about this place, but we didn’t have an opportunity to go while in Tokyo for other cities (they have multiple locations). It’s possible we would’ve had a better experience at a different one. Anyway, I don’t know if I would recommend it. It’s possible that our situation was a fluke though.
