Great Vegan Options

Heads up it’s a cash or debit only place. Got two pizzas, the pesto and veggie vegan options. Crust is thin and tasty. The pesto one was both our favorite but that could be just preference. It’s an awesome vegan option to have out here and was legitimately tasty. I would 100% go again.

Amazing pizza, ignore Marie

Marie, if you don’t visit a business, you shouldn’t be able to leave a review. It’s been half a decade since the place being closed one random night made you leave a 2 star review. You didn’t even try it, how can you arrive at any rating? This is a small town and it’s an open when they feel like it business. Flagged.

Abbondanza pizza place is fabulous. The owner, Cory, makes his own vegan cheese from coconut and cashew. Yes, no Daiya in April 2024 folks. He also doesn’t add cheese into the basil pesto so it can be added to any vegan pizza.

The dough is high quality 00, legit stuff. I had low expectations walking in being in a small place late on a Friday and it was our second choice after Ucluelet Brewing closed their kitchen at 9. Northern Ontario has messed up my perception of what to expect when dining out in rural places.

Boy, was I wrong to expect mid pizza! As we ate our divine vegan pesto and fire roasted tomato pizza with house made plant based cheese, we overheard Cory explain to some new customers asking for vegetarian pizza what rennet is and why that means the average dairy pizza isn’t vegetarian. He didn’t mince his words either. He said “they slaughter the male calves and harvest this enzyme called rennet from their stomach to coagulate the cheese so if you are truly vegetarian you wouldn’t eat cheese with rennet”. They ordered the vegan cheese as a result.

Great pies and a scholar of food sciences and diets. I have no doubt in my mind that Cory isn’t vegan but it hardly matters because he knows his stuff, is talented in the kitchen, he’s making great vegan options and is a straight shooter. I appreciate this so much more than any vegan business that is serving bad food and does not care that they do plant based foods a disservice as a result.

Pros: Made in house vegan cheese, Great people, Old late for Uckee

Cons: People who review places they did not try

IMHO
Reviews encompass the entire restaurant experience, not just how the food tastes.
If you had bad service that would be reviewed.
“No service” is no different.

"No service" would mean you went there, it was open and they refused to serve you. In your case, they were closed so you have never been there. It's okay to be disappointed that they were but that's not a reviewable experience. It's a small business, in a small town and they set their own hours. It's also exceptionally vegan-friendly. The owner is disabled and has a right to be open when he can and not when he can't.

Yes he does have a right to be open when he wants and we all have a right to our opinion and reviews. I can see your point but I see mine too.

Seems like you’re chasing points rather than writing helpful content. It’s been 5+ years and you haven’t tried to return. Anyway, your review has been filtered and doesn’t reflect on their rating anymore.

Danza Mania!

Can’t figure out if the picture signed by tony danza inspired the name of this place or the place inspired the tony danza autographed picture. Either way only second to Screamers in Brooklyn this was the best vegan pizza hands down we have ever had. Too bad it’s not a fully vegan spot. But the people were so kind too so that made up for that. If We could give five stars we would but happy cow won’t let us.

Pros: Best pizza , Best pizza , Toby danza autogrph

Cons: Not fully vegan

Vegan cheese!

Customized my own pizza with the Daiya cheese and some veggies. Took a little long to make, but it came out delicious. $25 to customize a pizza. Veggie pizzas can only have max 3 toppings.

Pros: Vegan cheese

Cons: Not many veggie topping choices
