Great experience! - Edit
I recently stopped by Lamb's Bread Cafe on my way through Columbia. Since it was on the way I figured I had to check out the only Vegetarian restaurant Columbia offers.
Read moreLamb's Bread offers an afro-carribean style of interior, complete with drums and wooden figures all over the place with the kitchen hidden from sight, and a small counter visible in the back.
The lady I spoke with (apparently the owners daughter) was incredibly nice, and I enjoyed speaking with her.
I had previously ate, so I unfortunately was not incredibly hungry and did not order one of the larger dinner plates. Instead I went with the mock chicken sandwich which was a pretty standard setup: patty, lettuce, tomato, veganaise, toasted bread. It was fantastic. As I spoke with the lady I discovered that they brought the patty in from another source. Regardless it was still one of the best mock chicken patties I had ever tried. The meal also came with a sweet potato souffle which had apple, raisins, and coconut. It too was absolutely fantastic.
I don't go to Columbia often, but when I return I will definitely be coming back. And if you pass through Columbia, SC you should help out the biz by stopping in.
I am giving Lambs Bread 4 stars. It is worth the full 5, but I have to reserve that for the restaurants like The Laughing Seed in Asheville, NC that have gone above and beyond on food, environment, location, etc. However, don't let that dissuade you!
Pros: Staff, Food, Proximity to I-26
Cons: I think the A/C was broken/wasn't on :/ , ...nor were the ceiling fans on.

Fantastic! (Check schedule ahead of time) - Edit
Some incredible vegan soul food. We were very grateful to stop here while in town. Check the website ahead of time for reduced hours and anticipate no indoor seating. The patio was a nice spot. The Mac and cheese, bacon chicken burger, and red cabbage were top of the line.

Everything we ate here was amazing! Very filling, packed with all the flavors you expect from The South. We went for dinner one night and then returned for breakfast the next t morning.

A yummy breakfast! - Edit
We got the French toast sticks, the chicken and waffles and the omelette. I’ve had a lot of vegan omelette in my life and this was hands down my favorite. Everything else was also very good!

Ahhhhhhhhmazzzing food - Edit
The only thing better than the food was the service!! The gentlemen up front were both happy, gregarious, and had beautiful smiles! After I placed my order, they remembered my name and continued to remember my name when I came back to pick up my food. The mac and cheese was amazing!!! The Nashville chicken sandwich was seriously one of the best I've ever had!! I wish the collards were more tangy than sweet but that's just my preference. I only wish I lived closer!!!

We visited Columbia for the synchronized fireflies and stopped by for lunch on our last day in the city. SO glad we did!

Best in Class! - Edit
The absolute BEST food in South Carolina is right here! 10/10 across the board: food, customer service, consistency, pricing vs portions, and quality.
Read moreI tried as much of the menu as I could within my time in the area, but wish I could've tried even more of their breakfast offerings. I enjoyed everything that I had from them, but I certainly had my favorites.
My obesessions -
CHKN SANDWICHES:
I tried the bakon ranch chkn (without the ranch) and the Nashville Hot sandwiches. I was immediately impressed with the chicken patty, which was thin and surrounded by a thick, seasoned breading. Personally, I don't like thick fake meats that are chewy and heavy with gluten. Their execution was perfect in every way. I do wish there was a vegan mayo option, especially for the Nashville hot, but their house sauce was an acceptable substitute.
WAFFLE FRIES:
Only sold as a side order for @ $7, but the portion is HUGE! Seasoned and fried to perfection, these are a must try!
VEGGIE PLATE:
You can order a plate with 4-6 options, which is a great way to try several side orders. I loved the purple cabbage, greens, and white/northern beans. The plate is heavy! They do not skimp on the portions and I love it!
BREAKFAST:
Baby... Fluffy, buttery pancakes, buttery grits, hash browns, scrambled Just Egg, and that bakon, bakon, BAKON. Literally OBSESSED with their bakon! It is THAT delicious, and some of the best vegan bacon that I have ever tasted. Another kudos is that when I purchased extra syrup, it came in a legit size; not 0.02 oz of syrup for $5 (as I've experienced at other spots).
DESSERTS:
I tried a LOT desserts, y'all. Their cakes give that rare, "Oh My Gosh! This can't be vegan!" reaction. The cakes are moist, soft, and buttery, and the buttercream icing is heavenly sweet.
My standout dessert obsessions are
1) CARAMEL CAKE. Best vegan caramel that I have ever had in my 16 years as a vegan. Extremely creamy, buttery, melt-in-your-mouth caramel. Whew! I'm ordering a whole cake next time.
2) KEY LIME PIE. The best key lime pie on earth is right here. That's all I'm gonna say about that there.
FRESH JUICES:
I was obsessed with the Pineapple Ginger juice and ordered about a dozen of them over time. The ingredients were very fresh and the ginger was strong, just like I like it.
The menu changes daily. It's carry-out only, but they have a large outdoor patio area if you'd like to eat onsite. (And there is also a restroom inside to wash your hands first.)

Vegan deliciousness - Edit
Everything they serve is delicious. Breakfast platter with scrambled eggs, bacon and grits to the omelette to the biscuits and gravy. Chicken thighs are crispy, good and filling. Lima beans are untouchable. Butter pecan cake is scrumptious. It's always worth my one and a half hour trip. I can't wait to take my girlfriends there.
