Best “chicken” ever!! - Edit
The “chicken” sandwich was incredible!! Super tasty sauce too. We had the collards and mac & “cheese” as sides. Collards were great, mac was good but had a super heavy nutritional yeast taste. We’re from out of town but will DEFINITELY be back for the sandwiches!

Can I live here? - Edit
Back when I attended college at UofSC, I was here weekly. Pre-remodel with incense burning and art all over. By my senior year their brick and mortar was closed and I sought out their food truck at soda city and eventually in their parking lot. Now, any time I visit friends in Cola, I use it as an excuse to visit their newly remodeled place. I even have my non-veg mother hooked.

I can say in full confidence, consistently the best vegan food I have ever EVER had!

I would have testified in court that what I ate was an actual chicken sandwich. Outstanding! Just wished we had one in Charleston but I will happily drive to Columbia again for kind of food.

Amazing southern soul food - Edit
I've been a vegan in the south for nearly 30 years, and have not had a better "chicken" sandwich. Sides, of mac n cheese and collard greens, were amazing to round out the meal.

Best vegan food in Columbia - Edit
The mac and cheese!! This place is honestly some of the best food I've ever had in my life. Almost beats my grandma's mac and cheese and collard greens. If you're looking for homemade southern food with loads of soul, look no further.

So, I have never been to the actual location, but they come down to Augusta for the annual food truck festival, and omg their food is so good...their chick'n legs or whatever it is is soooo good! and their burger is the best. Collards are kind of spicy but taste really good if you eat it with the mac n cheese. Now, their drink the have there are really food, but holy cow, their cupcakes are literally TO DIE FOR!!!

So happy that they have a wonderful Vegan restaurant like Peace is Soul in my southern hometown. I’ve been a fan since they were Lamb’s Bread and I’m happy that not only are they still going strong, but they upgraded!

Food I'd Like in Racine WI - Edit
I was visiting family in Columbia for a few years and looked for a vegetarian restaurant and found Lambs Bread. Which I have enjoyed each time I have visited Columbia again. And family has gone back without me because it so good. There are so many good food options it hard to make the case for that special one! Go treat yourself to A Peace of Soul asap at their food truck where ever it is.

Great Down Home Cooking - Edit
Came to Columbia to visit some family and found this little gem. They have incredible mac and cheeze, collards, cabbage and lima beans on the menu. We took two orders of the mandarin orange “chicken” protein with three sides. So good it made you wanna jump up and slap your mama! We will definitely return next time we’re in the area. ❤️

Pleasantly Impressed - Edit
First time in Columbia since I was a child. I’m 46. The food was very good. I had collard greens, macaroni and cheese, brown rice and black eyed peas. All were some of the best that I’ve ever had. I sample a piece of chicken sandwich. It was also very good. The staff was very friendly. The restaurant has a nice vibe with the art work and music.

Good customer service stands out! - Edit
Straight to the point: if someone is a butthead, I don't want to spend money at that business. I'm looking for good all-around experiences. Lamb's Bread is just that.
Read moreRIGHT AWAY the man taking orders waved us to the counter and explained the menu to us. He was extremely friendly and I was so appreciative of his patience and kindness with our large party. This is how you treat customers.
When the food arrived, I was surprised at the large portions and then even more surprised at how delicious it all was. I kind of tried a little bit of everything that day. My favorites were the sesame ginger okra, the bbq "ribs", and the mac n cheese (a little oily, but had a great flavor). My son ordered the philly and that thing was absolutely massive!
Our group also ordered 3 cupcakes. I tried a bite of all of them and their flavor and texture were on point. Damn fine cupcakes they were!
I will definitely be returning to this establishment. When you treat people right and feed them delicious food, it is mighty hard to turn people away.
Pros: Plenty of parking and seating, Delicious, Great veggie options

Great find - Edit
We found this restaurant on our way through Columbia and stop there whenever we are in the area. Modest looking building in a not so upscale part of Columbia but the folks are very friendly and know how to cook great vegan only food. Yummy collards, and other sides along with desserts and main dishes.

Horrible Experience - Edit
When I eat out, I like to eat at vegan restaurants and support them as a fellow vegan. However my experience with lambs bread cafe was horrible. The staff was extremely rude (except for the cashier guy) when asked about how they prepare their meals, due to my health concerns I wanted to be informed since I like to stay away from added oils. The lady spoke, who I assume was in charge of the store, to me in a very unprofessional manner. I was advised that what I would be better suited someplace else that could serve what I wanted . It was really upsetting that not only was I turned away but they wouldn’t work with their customers either. The staff could have compromised or advised what other menu items I would be able to enjoy. I would give them no stars but since happy cow automatically enters the two star rating ...

I agree, the staff here is unpleasant. I use to go here a lot when the old owner was still here, it was wonderful. The new people are not very friendly and treat me badly. If I want their food, I get take out so I don't have to be uncomfortable.

I love this place. The Kung Pao ‘chicken’ and Philly Cheese ‘steak’ are nothing short of amazing. Every thing offered here is delicious- the rice, field peas, purple cabbage, to name a few. And the cupcakes?! You get a ton of food and it is def comfort food.

AH-MAZING!!! - Edit
My boyfriend and I decided to try this place after reading so many great reviews. It did NOT disappoint. I was dancing in my seat the whole time. The food was absolutely soul-warming. Delicious. These descriptions don't do it justice. The atmosphere is very casual, African-themed, order at the counter then the food is brought to your table. Decent sized portions, I got the small plate and still had leftovers. Got a strawberry limeade and PB cupcake to go. I can't WAIT to go back. It's an hour drive but I'll travel any length for such amazing food.

Will Travel for Lamb's Bread - Edit
It's 2:00 on a Tuesday and lunch has passed. I've had another pb&j this week and I'm ready for some mouth-watering flavors. Without thinking, I pack up my car and drive 1 1/2 hours to taste the amazingness that is Lamb's Bread. Yeah, you read that correctly. I have literally traveled for this stuff.
Read moreLamb's Bread is the place to go for soulful, flavorful vegan plates. Each dish bursts with spices. Always go for the dinner plate, that way you have something for later. The mac-and-cheese is to die for and whatever the protein is for the day, try sugar-talkin' your way into a few extra pieces ;) A cold-pressed juice is a perfect way to finish a fantastic meal and don't forget a cupcake!
I promise you will want to travel for Lamb's Bread after you taste the amazing food!
Pros: Excellent food, Great vibe, Good value
Cons: Check the hours on FB before you go

Delicious vegan soul food - Edit
Bright, clean, space with counter ordering, table delivery, lots of ankh crosses. I selected a protein and 2 sides: BBQ "spareribs," mac and "cheese," and cooked purple cabbage. Everything was tasty and filling, and nicely seasoned brown rice with the BBQ made a bonus 3rd side. Here, soul food seems an ideal match with veganism. Lamb's Bread offers yummy takes on collards, cabbage, peas and beans, and potato curries that have long been vegan, and they round out the concept with vegan versions of "chicken" and "spareribs."
