Decent cheesecake - Edit
Came here since I'd heard about them having vegan cheesecake. Google said they do takeaway, but the staff reported that they don't, which isn't too surprising for it being called fine dining. They were still willing to send me away with a slice of cheesecake at least, though I expect the garnish and presentation would have been a bit more special if I'd dined in instead of getting a slice of cake in a box with two berries LOL. Still glad I tried it, qnd their other vegan options also looked interesting if I'd had more time to sit for a proper meal.

Worst ever dining experience - Edit
Having read positive reviews I was really looking forward to visiting this restaurant. Table booked for 7.30, kept standing at the entrance with no attention for 10-15 mins. Shown to table and ordered cocktails after a wait. Asked about vegan wine and told they didn't have any then saw some on the menu! Ordered a bottle, waitress brought red (we ordered white), took it away then said they only had enough left for 2 glasses of the vegan wine we wanted so had those. Ordered main course and dessert together as busy and thought it would save time. We waited an hr for our main course (I ordered a salad, my husband a paella). In the meantime by checking online we saw another (not marked on the menu) of the white wines was vegan but at that stage the service was so slow decided not to order. We waited until 10pm for dessert but nothing appeared so went without. Shocking service, the worst I have ever experienced. Bad end to a lovely few days in York. Strongly recommend that you avoid this restaurant. Very disgruntled customers (and we weren't the only ones).

Amazing Vegan Set Menu - Edit
Was a great place to be able to have so many vegan menu options, and I loved that the vegan wines were also very clearly marked. The food was fantastic and a lovely restaurant with very helpful staff.

This traditional French restaurant also has a separate set vegan menu. You can choose 2 or 3 courses for a fixed fee. And the food is absolutely fantastic! The crispy seitan starter is hands down some of the best food I've ever eaten!

Read moreWe were a mixture of vegan, vegetarian and lactose-free omnivore (and a pescatarian child). We had various options from the vegan menu and they were all delicious - special menu for the seitan with sesame seeds and Asian-style salad, and the chocolate brownie. The child’s fish and chips was a proper fillet, not fish fingers,served with proper ketchup and vinegar. High chair provided without fuss.
The serving staff were patient and helpful.
The service was a bit slow, but it took us a while to choose our meals and we weren’t rushed. It was a shame the vegan menus weren’t put out without asking for them, as there were a lot of foods that non vegans would enjoy.

Three course vegan meal - Edit
Had the vegan set menu of three courses. They also cater well for gluten free. Good range of vegan wine and beer. Very tasty fishcake and meatballs (pictured), and delicious apple crumble and custard. Lovely staff. Good central location.

A good vegan menu with good choices. Very pleasant decor, a place you could happily come to for a special occassion. Would give it five stars if this was allowed.

I ate here with my family. I was really impressed with the vegan choices on the menu, unfortunately they were sold out of most! I could knock them down for this but the food was that good I just can’t. I had the tofu pie, mash and gravy. Dessert was a great highlight... warm chocolate brownie and ice cream! I would absolutely go back.
