Joaquin Phoenix is a vegan actor

Birth place: Puerto Rico

Joaquin Phoenix comes from a family of sensitive vegetarians and peace activists. He has many siblings, including the actor River Phoenix.

Joaquin Phoenix was first recognized on the big screen for his part in the movie, Parenthood, also starring Steve Martin. At that time, Phoenix was called by the name "Leaf."

Phoenix, shy in nature, has struggled with alcoholism, drug abuse, and smoking. But he always manages to sober up for movies.

One of his more recent films is Walking The Line where he portrayed the legendary music man, Johnny Cash. Reese Witherspoon co-starred in the movie. Phoenix was also in the movie The Gladiators.

Sometimes Phoenix can be spotted riding a motorcycle in the Southern California area, where he resides often times. And he eats at the vegetarian restaurants.

Early 2009, Joaquin Phoenix startled everyone when he appeared on CBS's The David Letterman show with a full beard, dark sunglasses, and talks about quitting acting and starting a rap music career. No one seems to know if this was an act or for real. What a trip!

Crud, just sent in to the editors but forgot stuff. Okay, Joaquin was born in Puerto Rico, not Venezuela. Joaquin's mother is of Hungarian-Russian decent and his father is of Spanish-Irish decent. He starred in Walk The Line, a story about Johnny Cash and June Carter. The bike he owns is a yellow Ducati, Italian-made motorcycle. He was checked into a facility for drinking, but I don't know about the drugs part. And he's a very very very strict vegan, opting for synthetic materials instead of leather for his wardrobe in Gladiator, Quills, and Walk The Line. He also does NOT like being photographed but is known for saying hi to his fans even after a 14-hour shoot.

I am a fan of Joaquin Phoenix...of his acting, plus he's HOT. I saw him once at Leonor's Vegetarian Restaurant in Studio City California. He pulled up in a yellow motorcyle with a girlfriend. They seemed very relaxed, like normal people. I was too shy to say hello. Oh well.
