Finally, a perfect vegetarian Taiwanese café right in front of Ito Station - Edit
This small Taiwanese onigiri shop is a very welcome addition to the Ito Station area. It is located just in front of the station, so it is easy to stop by for a quick meal, takeaway, or a café break.
Read moreThe menu is based on Taiwanese ovo-lacto vegetarian recipes, and they do not use animal meat. The meat-like ingredients are plant-based, and many items can be prepared vegan if you request clearly when ordering. Some toppings, such as marinated egg, mayonnaise, and cheese, are optional, so it is important to let the staff know if you want a vegan version.
I especially like that the food is casual but still satisfying. The black-rice Taiwanese onigiri are generously filled and feel much more like a proper meal than a simple snack. The tantan noodles are rich and comforting, made with soy milk, sesame, and plant-based meat. The wonton soup with soy meat and konjac also has a nice chewy texture.
The drink and dessert options are also fun. The brown sugar tapioca milk tea can be made with soy milk upon request, and the soy milk vanilla ice cream and black sesame rice dumplings are good vegan dessert choices.
Ito does not have many places that clearly understand vegetarian or vegan needs, so this shop is especially valuable for visitors looking for plant-based options near the station. Since it is a small shop, items may sell out and the opening schedule can vary, so checking their Instagram before visiting is recommended.
Pros: Convenient location, 1 min walk from Ito Station, Satisfying onigiri, noodles, drinks, and desserts, Illustrated English menu makes vegan options clear
Cons: Staff English limited; double-check vegan orders, Short stairway to basement; no elevator, Closed days can be unclear; sometimes closes early

Delicious little vegetarian restaurant - Edit
Delicious wonton soup, tantan noodles, and onigiri - all vegetarian (no meat or seafood) - in a comfortable and genuine atmosphere with kind service. The cold lemon tea that comes in the meal sets was also excellent

Der Geschmack hat absolut überzeugt - Edit
Die Soja-basierte Tantan Nudelsuppe hat geschmacklich absolut überzeugt! Die taiwanesischen Onigiri erinnern mich eher an kleine Nori-Wraps, man sollte also keine klassischen japanischen Onigiri erwarten.
