Cheap delicious homely meal - Edit
Must try if you're going to Katsuoji temple and Mino falls. For 1090 yen you get a delicious meal set with varying flavours. There are some snacks you can purchase to take home with you as well. It's the only vegan place in this area, and thankfully it's a splendid one.

Lovely & cheap vegan Japanese traditional food - Edit
I've tried a few places that serve set meals of simple, homey Japanese food. Unfortunately I found those meals a bit flavorless as someone who tries to use less salt but still need the food to be quite salty to enjoy. Also they dod not have rich flavors, but rather simple shallow ones - mostly of tofu, soy, and vegetables.

The prices are of the cheapest I've seen for this kind of food.
My lunch set meal cost only 1090 yen! And it was very filling.
The food here though wasa lot more flavorful and diverse!
Loved the fried balls made from dried soy protein which I'm familiar with from back home, but they made it with a unique coating and tasty sauce.
The rice as usual is salt free and the soup and potato salad were about the same as in other similar places, but everything else like the fried balls, the little fried vegetable patty, the little croque were great.
Thought the little tofu in a jar was pudding but apparently it's salty silken tofu.
The menu mentioned ice cream, pastries and granola but they only had granola.
If you're going to Minoh falls this is the perfect place for lunch on the way there!
Pros: Diverse lunch set, Cheap!, The lovely couple kept my glass full

Must go if you are visiting Minoh falls! They have a set menu for lunch and it comes with many different bites, rice and a soup.

My brother and I went here before walking Minoh Falls, and it was very cute and quiet with only a few tables inside. The food was delicious and filling, plus a good mix of veggies and proteins. They are cash only but that's pretty normal so no bother

2025-5-3 I went for lunch and I was very much pleased - the owner runs the place now for 14 years - so he has experience serving very good vegan food - the price is more than reasonable- if I would live in the area I would go there more often. Hko

We had the lunch set and really liked it. It was a variety of smaller japanese dishes (silk tofu, different salads, soy meat karaage, croquette, miso soup, rice, ...). The meal was filling, delicious and cheap. We also had the soy ice cream. Would recommend!

Traveled across Osaka region to eat here but it was closed despite being within the opening hours on Happy Cow, Google, and their own FB page. It looks like it would be lovely to eat at, but don't go out of your way to visit

The chef was kind enough to cook for us even though it was outside the usual timeframe. Food was delicious, try all of the baked goods if you can too, the onion cookie is very good 👍

I had a lovely lunch in this cafe in my trip to visit the waterfall. A bit of a walk from the station but worth the visit. There was one option for lunch and it was very good with many small portions of different foods. The cost was around 1000 yen.

Secret Tipp on your way to Minofalls - Edit
We came to a different restaurant super hungry, but unfortunately they didn’t have anything to eat that day, so I asked the staff there if there is any other place nearby that offers vegan food. They informed us about this restaurant, which is about 10 minutes from the Station.
Read moreHappy we could find something to eat in this area. The lunchset (950円) consist of lots of small dishes, rice and a soup - unusually strong flavors for Japanese food, extremely delicious and adventurous, very nice owners, cozy vibes... I would recommend it to anyone!
