Small vegetarian restaurant in a peaceful calm atmosphere with nice grounds. Offers vegan options. Located in the Tara Buddhist Centre Ashe Hall. Open Tue-Sun 10:00-16:00.
This is my favourite place for lunch. I love the grounds and relaxing atmosphere. The food is great with plenty of vegan options. The vegan marzipan cake is insanely good as are the brownies!! Highly recommended!! X
This a lovely peaceful café set overlooking a beautiful courtyard. I loved the fact the pot plants were thriving and the place was super-clean. The staff were lovely too, we were greeted with smiles and kindness. They also had two types of vegan chocolate brownies (which is always a win!). The main lunches were a bit dull. A choice of baked potato, falafels or soup. The hummus was a bit bland and the falafels dry. On the plus side the coffee was superb! I'd definitely return for cake and coffee :-)
This is a cute, little café that, although listed as vegetarian, offers a few vegan options and even has “Go vegan!” written on the menu next to the milk alternatives. The menu looks a little simple but is surprisingly delicious and refreshing. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is lovely. There’s even a nearby shop that sells ethical and vegan-friendly gifts.
This cafe is really nice! I went with my mum (she's not vegetarian) and she really enjoyed it there were some good vegan options for me as well. The atmosphere was really friendly and calm and we went for a walk round the grounds after. A good place to go if you're feeling stressed out!
I have visited here twice now. Firstly i spent the night here when i did a Buddhist meditation retreat on 31st dec 2014. The people who run the centre are very friendly and make you feel at home. It's the sort of place you can go on your own and not feel out of place. They provided very nicely cooked wholesome simple meals. I had brekfast and dinner in the refrectory. You are encouraged to help out by washing your own dishes as it has a communal atmosphere.
On my second visit i attended one of the centre's Meditation and Meal events in the evening. We were served a restaurant standard 3 course dinner in the
World Peace Cafe. Delicious. Highly recommened either for a stay or an
evening meal or lunch in the commercially run World Peace Cafe.

Worth a visit - Edit
I love the peaceful grounds. The cafe is staffed by volunteers from around the world, so you can help by speaking English with them!
Read moreI've always enjoyed the food and it's very reasonable. Lots of options, healthy and unhealthy, generally good for vegans.
It's one of my favourite places to go, and there are both free and paid meditation classes seven days a week. Lovely.
