Neighborhood Diner with Quality Vegan Options - Edit
My go-to for breakfast in Madison. If I'm feeling hungry it's an order of vegan french toast and a plate of hashbrowns. A rare gem of a true "greasy spoon" where you can sit at the breakfast counter and get a mug of coffee and some tasty vegan food.

Pros: Atmosphere, Great comfort food
Cons: Wish the menu had more vegan items

Unprofessional - Edit
1/2 hour after ordering food an employee (may have been owner or manager) told us we needed to change our order because they didn't have the ingredients; we did so. It was an hour total before we were served. Yes they were busy however we watched customers, at different tables, that came in after us be served and leave. At 50 minutes we asked about our order. We were told it would be five more minutes and watch our server pull out ticket and move it up to be cooked. My order was incorrect, when I questioned the server she had to check to be sure I was right and asked if she should have it corrected. I said "Don't bother I've waited long enough." She began chattering on about service and being busy. I had another question about the food and my server would not give me a chance to explain my issue. They talked over me turned and walked away. During the first hour I had ordered a hot tea for $3, which I drank early in my visit. After all the troubles we had I thought it proper to have the tea comped, after all what does it cost for a tea bag and hot water? In talking to the manager he agreed. He then came back to our table and very rudely told me that because he comped the tea we were to never come back! I asked him to repeat himself because I couldn't believe what he was saying. My family and myself have been in the restaurant business for 45 years. We would never have treated a customer so badly. Myself I would have comped the whole meal even if the customer was wrong. If you are thinking about eating at this restaurant, you may consider my experience. They need not worry about me ever returning. If I could I would give a half star!

Cash only rustic diner - Edit
Cheap cheap cheap! We decided against the tofu scramble...because it always seems disappointing and we can make better at home. I got the Vegan French Toast and couldn't decide what fruit I wanted. The waiter said I could choose as many as I wanted.😄The fruit was kind of disappointing (maybe from frozen or mixed with syrup/sugar) but the french toast was very yummy! The french toast appeared to have butter on the middle pieces...which freaked me out....I didn't ask questions. My partner got the Vegan Biscuits and Gravy. It was pretty average vegan biscuits and gravy from our experience.

French. Toast. 🥹 - Edit
You have to try the French toast!! This was my first time trying vegan French toast and it was incredible! I can’t wait to go back and try the other options. The atmosphere here was so fun too. Just be aware that this place is cash only! Otherwise, enjoy endless coffee and delicious food

Love love loved the tofu scramble that I got. Was super filling and so delicious. Definitely greasy but that’s to be expected from some good diner food!

Visited this diner for the veg biscuits and gravy on a Monday when a lot of options were close. They were out of the biscuits so I got a Tofu scramble which was passable but not amazing. The waitress was kind enough to suggest that I put the mushroom gravy on the tofu which was a great idea. The toast was buttered with cow butter so you'll want to ask when you order to keep it dry.

Excellent first impression - Edit
I recently moved to Madison from Portland, OR, and was delighted to hear that there was a restaurant down the street serving vegan breakfast options. On my first visit I had their vegan biscuits and gravy which was pretty good. They also have a vegan breakfast scramble and vegan French toast that I'm excited to try on my subsequent visits. Their customer service was top-notch as well.

Great breakfast! - Edit
Traditional diner-type place with three vegan options, a vegan skillet (with potatoes, tofu, veggies, gravy), French toast, and biscuits and gravy (plus hash browns!). I've tried the first two, both great, the French toast is REALLY great though. I'll have to try the biscuits and gravy next time, but it'll be hard with how good the French toast was! Also FYI: they are cash only.

Great brunch spot. - Edit
Willalby's is adorable, a little sit-down diner with a small kitchen and very homey feel to it. The vegan side of the menu is small, though the staff is knowledgeable and the food is extremely well-priced and filling. Makes for a really tasty brunch spot. Be aware that the kitchen is small, so wait times can be long during the busy hour.
