Vegan Paradise! - Edit
They have a separate Vegan Menu that is bursting with flavor and plenty of options. We split the vegan burrito, which was HUGE. Both of us were stuffed after. They also have great views of seals and the harbor. Loved it!

They expanded the vegan menu and there’s an extensive menu now. Previously had the burrito (huge and tasty!), waffles (so yummy!), and this trip the breakfast sando. It’s all been very good and filling! The smoothies have been wonderful as well!

My family is vegan and we ate here in August of 2024 because they have several great vegan options. I got the Pacific Toast which was totally delicious, one side topped with avocado and super-fresh sweet tomato pieces and the other with humus and sprouts, also with a light and tasty sauce of some kind. Really loved it! I also got the Chocolate Waterfall smoothie, which was incredibly good. Other family members got the Shoreline Sandwich and the Build-A-Bagel and enjoyed them a lot. Personally I loved having a view of the world's smallest harbor as well. I chatted with the owner (co-owner?) and he was super friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!!

We returned in March 2025 and Whale Bites Cafe continues to impress! Fresh squeezed orange juice so amazing that I immediately had to buy another one to take home. Vegan/GF waffles are super good and I don’t usually eat or love GF things. Vegan NW burrito extremely delish also. And the owners are so great!
If you are vegan or vegetarian and you are anywhere even remotely in the general area (Lincoln City, Newport, etc.), you MUST come here!

Has all the vegan replacements. Vegan whip cream, milks, violife cheese, sausage, & Just egg. Plus a separate vegan menu, so you don’t have to hunt the menu for the options. It’s conveniently right on the main Depoe Bay drag with bay views.

Menu clearly spelt out with items can be made vegan. Had 3 options including vegan and gluten free waffles. The Devil’s Punch bowl can be made vegan with just egg and a vegan aioli. Server was very clear about options and making sure they were vegan when finalizing order. Would come here again!

Food was excellent, there are three vegan options to choose from (two bagels and a burrito). They also have non-dairy milk for coffee. Only downside is expect a wait, this place is popular.

Traveling with a group of friends and needed to find food for both omnivores and a vegan and this little gem popped-up in my search.
Read moreTurned out to be a very cute place with ocean themed decor throughout. Seating is fairly limited and the place can fill up fast during the morning rush. The staff were pleasant and helpful with any questions we had.
I had the Sunrise Burrito, but made it vegan and added avocado; it was delicious, and very filling. My friends got the Captain's Biscuit and Gravy, Northwest Waffles, and fresh squeezed orange juice and all raved about the food.
If I'm ever in the area again, I would go out of my way to eat here again.
Pros: Many vegan options. , Clean and spacious.
Cons: Could always have more vegan options.

The Whale Bites Café is a super great café for breakfast and/or lunch (open 8am-2pm). During our 12 day stay in Depoe Bay we ate there every day they were open. It definitely was our daily highlight! Josh and Julia were our lifesavers as there isn't much vegan food available in the rural areas on the coast. And it is the BEST vegan food I have ever eaten! There is both a separate vegetarian and a vegan menu, each with 4 different dishes to choose from and everything tastes amazing - a big compliment to the chef! The portions are big enough that you will never leave hungry. Everything is prepared very lovingly and the entire staff is super friendly! A very cozy little establishment where you can also sit a little longer with a delicious coffee from Left Coast Coffee and just enjoy the view (oat milk is available at no extra cost). The smoothies are also extremely tasty and can be prepared vegan if desired. When the weather is nice you can sit on the terrace overlooking the harbor. All in all, we highly recommend the Whale Bites Café and we are very sad that we live thousands of miles away...

Pacific Toast all day every day - Edit
Adorable small business run by a great team. The pacific Toast is vegan, you can add vegan sausage or egg. The local veggies are absolutely delicious, best tomatoes I have had.They also have vegan cheese. They can make a breakfast burrito or sandwich with hash brown, vegan sausage or other additions. The orange juice is fresh squeezed and amazing. Friends swear by their smoothies. They are open to customizations and will alter their menu with demand- so more veggie options could be in the future
