WADACHI in Kokura is a fantastic find!

Finding authentic Japanese izakaya food when you are plant-based can be a real headache, but the staff here are incredibly sweet and make you feel right at home. They have a whole separate vegan and halal menu with a wonderful plant-based Tonkotsu ramen and crispy gyoza packed with local Kitakyushu veggies. Plus, it is great that they have even more vegan options thoughtfully scattered throughout the main menu too. You definitely have to pair your food with a perfectly poured, ice-cold Asahi beer. Super friendly service, inclusive food, and great vibes overall!

Good food and clearly labelled vegan options

They have a menu with clearly labelled vegan food (like ramen and gyoza). I took the ramen and it was very tasty.

Vegan choices clearly labelled, good food

Ask staff for the vegan menu. Great ramen and tempura, owner was very friendly and gave us advice on where to go in kitakyushu. They cook vegan options separately in other pots.

Cons: A little pricey

Incredible vegan food in Kokura!

Despite what a previous review said, there is in fact a vegan (and halal!) menu with lots of variety. The food is delicious, the vegan tonkotsu was my personal highlight.

The owner was a lot of fun to speak with and was very attentive! I cannot recommend enough!

Pros: Tonkotsu ramen, Gyoza, Friendly owner

Delicious Vegan Hakata Style Ramen!

Vegan gyoza are made with tofu and vegetables instead of meat, enhanced with a unique spice blend for added flavor. Meanwhile, the ramen uses a broth made from kombu and shiitake mushrooms instead of animal-based ingredients, resulting in a rich and savory taste.

Pros: Ramen, Access

Cons: Limited menu
