HappyCow won’t let me give a “vegan” restaurant lower than 2 stars but they aren’t even vegetarian.
I ordered from them online and picked up yesterday after multiple people within the past week had confirmed the restaurant had gone all vegan. The signs out front still called it W4 Vegetarian House and the menus inside said W4 Vegan House. Their Google listing still said it was a vegetarian restaurant. I ate the soup and then got to the chicken which was unlike any vegan chicken I’ve seen before so I immediately went back. They told me they were trying a vegan menu but they started serving meat again that day. They confirmed I was given real chicken and that the soup I had already eaten also contained meat. I am beyond disgusted. They gave me my money back without complaint but I would never trust anything that comes out of their kitchen after this.
This is terrible news. W4 should be ashamed of themselves for misleading people. I was so excited when I saw they opened, thinking that it was a vegan place, and I'm very disappointed that they served meat after saying that they would not do so. I reported this place to HappyCow to have its listing changed to "Vegan-friendly." When it is changed, please remember to alter your rating to one star, which the place so obviously deserves.
You GUYS. This place is phenomenal and their $13 lunch special that comes with soup rice and an entree can't be beat in nyc. Incredible value and so fun to have another all vegan spot to choose from in the heart of the west village. They do fun drink specials all the time like the $2.50 boba tea special they run all day. Fun options like soy lamb, duck, chicken, beef, etc. DELICIOUS and they're so kind.

oh noooo! good to know - should have a website feature on Happy Cow to put a red circle with a line over the name...
