Great food but very noisy

Finally tried out this new vegetarian diner. We came here for lunch on a Saturday and the place was packed. I was told that all items on the menu are vegan except for those that specifically have eggs or cheese in them, and even these can be veganized by substituting tofu or their homemade vegan cheese (which BTW is crazy good).

I got the chipotle black bean burger with red cabbage slaw. For toppings they had a few combination choices, but you can also pick your own, which was what I did. Food was delicious and reasonably priced, but service was a little slow perhaps because they were still new, which I didn't mind too much. What annoyed me the most was the noise level inside; it was so loud that my partner and I had to practically yell at each other just so we could make ourselves heard. Would have rated it five cows otherwise.

Pros: good food, reasonable prices

Cons: noisy, slow service

So many options

Such a nice change of pace to have so many vegan options clearly listed. Had the vegan mozz sticks and the po boy sandwich. Delicious. Staff was super friendly and efficient.

Good breakfast

Dining here was very special. It’s not a vegan place, but you wouldn’t miss meat at all — they offer a wide variety of plant-based options.
Everything we tried was delicious. I ordered the plant-based ham and egg — the egg looked incredibly real and tasted very close to the original, especially the yolk. The ham was okay, maybe a little dry, but still good. I also had waffles with berries and coconut whipped cream — absolutely delicious. The berries had a slightly sour flavor, and the sweetness of the whipped cream created a perfect balance. You can also add maple syrup, which made it even better.
Overall, it was a very filling and satisfying breakfast. I was especially impressed by how realistic the egg yolk tasted. Highly recommend!

Yum

Buffalo chicken was sooo good. Idk if the texture would’ve sold non-vegans - but I loved it. If you’re bringing non-vegans here I’d recommend the dishes using Beyond meat because that will taste more realistic to them than the seitan

Great brunch place but wish they were fully vegan

Awesome diner where everything can be made vegan. Hopefully soon they will be 100% vegan!

Great diner food made vegan

Extensive vegan menu, delicious for a date night! Vegan does not equal healthy so come expecting fried, salty, sugary (yummy!) food. I had the steak frites which was really delicious, and a side of cabbage slaw which I was on the fence about. The only word I can think of to describe the texture is “viscous”. Hubby got the blue plate special which was tamales. He wasn’t blown away. But of course the deserts at Veggie Galaxy more than make up for any disappointment about dinner! We got Oreo cheesecake and tres leche cake. Divine!

Classic Vegan Diner Vibes ✨

Food was really good but not great — it felt like a typical diner experience, just made all vegan. When we went, it was extremely busy, so service took a bit. The onion rings and mozzarella sticks were definitely the highlights — both crispy and flavorful. Overall, a fun spot for comfort food in the Boston area, especially if you’re craving that nostalgic diner feel.

Good, but not quite great

I would easily give 4.5 stars, but this wasn’t quite 5* by big-city standards. The atmosphere was great with a perfect retro diner vibe. The menu was expansive and reasonably priced, with most of it vegan by default. The mozzarella sticks were good, but just standard (Violife?) cheese with some seasoned panko. The clam chowder was a little bland and needed more mushrooms. The Mac ‘n Stack looked as outrageous as it sounded, and again, was good but lacked that extra ‘something’ to take it to the next level. The Boston cream pie was NOT good, with a thin coconut cream rather than custard and tough cake. Boston was surprisingly lacking in vegan options so I’d probably still recommend a trip to check out this classic, but i wouldn’t go back.

Fun place full of friendly people

My local friend took me here and it was such a treat to have access to a fully veggie menu. I had the butternut squash soup with toasted pepitas (a special) and blood orange iced tea. 😋

Pros: Atmosphere and attitude, Comfort food, breakfast all day, Huge menu with so many choices

Cons: Not fully vegan, No dedicated parking

Super Cool :)

Great location, old school typical american diner style, love it! The menu is huge and it was sooo hard to choose. Actually everything could be made vegan but I kept it simple and ordered one of the already labeled vegan dishes: The banana bread french toast 🍌🍞
Was very good and nice service too. Highly recommend!

Pages and pages of choices

So many options here! I enjoy the beyond steak and cheese. Their cosmo is actually really good too! Chicken broccoli alfredo a bit on the bland side sadly!

Finally, a veg diner!

It’s easy to find veg places that are filled with salads, harder to find a place that will get you some solid, greasy spoon, veg diner food! So delicious. They also have a great patio when the weather is good!

Good old Greasy Spoon Diner

I don’t miss much about going vegan but I do miss diners. If you’re looking for classic diner style vegan foods Veggie galaxy hits the spot. Very cool diner vibes, complete with large cake display up front and neon lit signage in the window. They do serve eggs & cheese but everything on the menu can be made vegan if you ask. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a classic plant based greasy spoon experience.

Mac ‘n’ Stack and Cubano… wow.

The diabolical junk foodicians have done it again! A vegan chicken sandwich with a waffle bun made with mac and cheese! Whuuut!

The cubano was also stellar. Perfect bun, shredded jackfruit pork and seitan ham. My lord.

They had a French onion soup that was also bonkers and quite complex flavor-wise.

Pros: Mac ‘n’ Stack, Cubano, Great service

Cons: Stomach too small… 😑

Great Vegan Food

Love the fully vegetarian menu and wide vegan selection!
Everything was delicious, best mozzerella sticks I've ever had, too. Everyone in my family (even those who typically eat meat) enjoyed their meal!

Hopping but overhyped!

The food was honestly not the best I've had, and fine but overrated! My biscuit was very dry, and my food under spiced. VERY kind staff however! Fun to hang out!

It’s a novelty!

Very unique restaurant that does some super cool things!

Pros:
- Any of their baked goods are TO DIE FOR.
- Lovely environment
- Nails the diner theme
- An experience!!

Cons:
- I’ve been here three times now and honestly I just don’t think their actual entrees are super memorable. I tried their clam chowder, their jackfruit bowl, and the chicken waffles. And only the chicken waffles stood out as being good (still not fantastic) the others were meh 🤷
- wish it was all vegan.

To break it down:
4/5 experience
5/5 sweets and baked goods
3/5 food

So highly recommend visiting and trying it out! Get your nostalgic diner food and your favorite baked goods and have a blast.

A long time classic

This place has been around for so long - it was the first vegetarian diner I’d ever been to. It is still so delicious, and a true Cambridge classic ! Great diner food, rotating cake display, boozy milkshakes , everything is veganizable if not vegan already. Reasonable prices and summer patio!

Good diner food!

Portions are generous. Lots of options. Whole restaurant is vegetarian and the entire menu can be made vegan. Recommend the sandwiches.
