Delicious vegan food :) - Edit
The food here was sooo good. Two non-vegan friends joined me and we all cleared our plates despite the large portions - the food was just gorgeous. Highlights were the baba ganoush, ‘chickn’ tagine, moussaka and baklava.

Underwhelming - Edit
Please beware, we found our food to be lacking in flavour and pretty expensive. A service charge of 12.5% was also added to the bill, this was not made clear at the outset. The owner was quite pushy and he made us both feel a little uncomfortable with his manner. All in all a bit of shame as there are very few vegan outlets in Cheltenham to choose from. Unfortunately we will not be going back.

Pros: Portion size
Cons: Overbearing & pushy owner, Bland food , Expensive

Thanks for your feedback, menu clearly states that there is a service charge and we are so very sorry that you have been made feel uncomfortable by our otherwise charming owner. It’s nice to hear sometimes that the food is blend as the amount of positive comments on the flavour of the food and how tasty it is, can be overwhelming for us. Just to clarify, we are the ONLY fully vegan outlet in Cheltenham, and a great loss not having you back again. Ps. There is really cheap vegan menu available in McDonalds.

From start to finish, my first visit was great. From a friendly welcome to a warm farewell and great customer service with food created to personal requests. The right amount of spice.

Excellent plant based food with 1st class service - Edit
Excellent choice of Mediterranean food . Had Padron peppers and broad bean/‘chorizo’ for starters and seitan-based kebabs with salad, hummus and seasoned fries. Plenty of food and great quality. Owner was very chatty, friendly and informative. We will definitely be returning.

The food is all freshly made with delicious fruit and veg. Only in Cheltenham overnight and went there twice. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Creepy aggressive owner and lacking in flavour - Edit
The owner: Despite how this place is fully vegan, the owner is a serious creep, sitting outside the closed shop between 2300-0100 heckling women on the street and asking them to come into his shop and ‘don’t be scared’. He’s very pushy, and can’t take no for an answer on an upsell. I’ve seen him successfully get drunk women into the shop before too. It’s deeply unsettling. He needs to understand how to respect women (especially when young, solo, on their way home at night, and drunk), be less pushy, and focus on improving his food.
Read moreIn addition, a non-vegan coworker decided to give this place a try whilst working from home. After the food took 2 hours and the owner repeatedly said it’d be there soon, he then confessed that he hadn’t started the order. My coworker then got a refund through the delivery company. Another 2 hours later, the owner of Vegetus arrived at his house after a 20 minute drive, shouting outside their door. They rejected the food since it was 4 hours late, and after he threw it in front of their house, they threatened to call the police so he left.
Overall a massive red flag.
The food:
I’ve eaten here 5 times, and reliably been underwhelmed. All the food is lacking seasoning and spices, and is excessively expensive for what it is. I keep hoping that I’m mistaken and to give it another go but it always disappoints - I won’t be giving it another try after what I’ve seen from the owner.
The tofish is simply a block of tofu, cut in half length ways and put in a turmeric gluten free batter (seemingly without salt or pepper). It’s served with oven chips. At least scoring it, or adding nori to one side would improve it, not to mention seasoning. My partner felt like it was wrong and vomited 30 minutes after eating it.
The falafel are lacking in herbs, in both flavour and appearance (not fresh green). Both houmous and tahini are lacking in flavour too. No chilli sauce available and salad lacking in red onion. Basic salad on offer, without added herbs or even seemingly dressing.
The ‘kebab’ is unseasoned tough seitan. The bought-in rather than freshly made kind. Even frozen grated tofu in a basic shawarma seasoning would be a huge upgrade.
The cakes are very tasty and do deserve merit.
Overall despite living next door and being vegan, myself and my partner are avoiding this place for life.
Pros: Cakes
Cons: Owner, Tofish, Kebab

British food with an orientalien taste - Edit
On our way up North we headed to this place just for some snacks. But at the end we had the royal breakfast, the tofish and the pancakes and we are not regretting it! the taste of every item from the breakfast plate was delicious, with a little taste of maroccan spicies.you could call it "fusion kitchen" 😅
Read moreNote, that dogs are not allowed to get in,but there were two tables outside. Also it took some time to be served, but it was worth waiting for.
But at the end we were a bit surprised about the price as we got no bill. Afterwards we've read in other reviews that they seem to have a service charge of 10%,what explains the amount maybe. But the fact it took a bit too long doesn't really justify a charge.. should also be written somewhere so you know about it before - so one star less for that.

Lovely atmosphere, very busy, we were lucky to get a table. The foot was great, but the final bill was as ridiculously expensive for a main, a side, a piece of cake and a soft drink. It came to £37, for one person, for lunch.

The Berber tajine was excellent.

Blown away - Edit
First and foremost, make sure you don't eat anything beforehand as the servings here at minimum very generous. Myself and my partner decided to try here on a day out in Cheltenham, on arrival the fantastic host seated us literally as soon as we arrived, the menu is plentiful with an array of different options, soft/alcoholic drinks (Peroni on tap! Which surprised me) and a small larder of items to purchase during your visit.
Read moreI went for steak and chips with roquefort sauce and my partner had the chicken burger. I asked for my sauce to be on the side but following the recommendation (insistence!) from the owner I had it on my steak instead. I've never tried roquefort sauce and not a fan of white/creamy/vegan cheese sauces so this for me was really stepping outside of my comfort zone.
What I will say is please don't be in a rush to quickly be in and out, give yourself an hour MINIMUM for you to complete your meal, each order is cooked individually and fresh in a small kitchen but the food itself is mind blowingly good, flavourful and filled to brim, you will not walk away here unsatisfied or not full. The steak was quite simply the best steak I've had in my life and the sauce which came with it, just amazing a soreviously mentioned I'm not a fan, consider me converted. I did managed to try my partners burger and it was very very nice. Don't pass up the mushroom and spinich side with your steak, the flavours are awesome. We couldn't finish our meals but still after we found ourselfs being stuffed were dipping individual fries in that amazing roquefort sauce.
Thank you to all at the restaurant for your hospitality, great food and wonderful setting, this will not be the last time you see us. I can see myself and my partner talking about this place for a very long time, the standard has been set. Simply a pheonomonal experience all the way round.
Pros: Huge menu, flavourful, big portions. , Great host, great venue. , Great for couples and singles alike!
Cons: Not a negative, don't expect fast food times.

Must visit! - Edit
Oh my days! What a treat it was to visit this place today. Myself and my partner both family to clear our plates as the portions are quite hefty so I recommend not eating anything prior to visiting lol. We were only visiting for the day otherwise I'm sure this would be our local favourite to visit. The food was incredible and I'm in awe of the roquefort sauce that came with the seitan steak my partner ordered. Tasted just how I remember roquefort. I had the chicken burger which was also incredible. Although it was a toss up between that and the tagine which sounded amazing too, true comfort food!
