Surprisingly good. - Edit
My partner found this restaurant online and showed me the buffet since he knows I love this kind of food, so he pretty much sold the idea to me.
Read moreOn the way there I started reading reviews and saw a lot of mixed, mostly negative comments, so I began to regret the decision a little. However, we were already heading to Chinatown, so it was convenient.
When we arrived we were a bit confused about how everything worked, but a lady kindly explained the buffet system. We chose rice with three dishes.
At first it didn’t look particularly clean, but to our surprise about 90% of the food we tried was actually quite good. The fried soy wasn’t great and the spicy mushrooms had a strange texture and were extremely spicy, but the rest of the dishes were tasty.
One thing that disappointed us a bit was the skewers we saw online in photos, they looked really good, but we couldn’t find them anywhere. We only saw someone outside frying tofu and putting it into bowls, so we didn’t end up trying any skewers.
They were also selling desserts outside. I asked if they were from the same restaurant and the lady said yes. When I asked if they were vegan she also said yes, but because I have trust issues with that kind of thing I asked again if they had egg or dairy… and she said yes 😂 so not vegan after all. I’m not sure if it was a language barrier or just confusion, but we didn’t want to risk it.
I had also read online that someone tried the tiramisu there, so I thought it might be vegan, but apparently it contains dairy, so we passed on the desserts.
After a long day of travel and with Chinatown being very crowded, we were a bit overwhelmed and didn’t end up trying more things. It was also very hot inside.
Overall, the food was better than expected, but it’s probably not somewhere I would go out of my way to visit again unless I was already in the area.

amazing place - Edit
went to this place in chinatown and at first it was a bit confusing to go in because there were so many people lining up outside. turns out they were only waiting for desserts. when a woman noticed me, she guided me inside.
Read morethe food was amazing. the whole buffet was vegan and i asked the woman to make two mixed plates for us. the portions were really generous, the price was super fair, and everyone there was incredibly kind. big recommendation.

Xio Long Bao - Edit

Vegan food in Chinatown - Edit
The restaurant has two sections: inside & outside. The self-service restaurant buffet seems to be all vegan. The "outside", preciously a food stall now takes up a part of the restaurant (Saazar street side). They have vegan fried siopao (baotse) and grilled mock meat skewers. The other options are eggs or include eggs. They also had food stall selling baked goods/sweets - all non-vegan. There is also a fresh sugar cane juice stall (Wong Kei - this might technically be a separate business?).

Rico - Edit

OK experience - Edit
Self service restaurant with lots of Filipino and Chinese vegan options. Set menu with 3 ulam got a fair price, extra sides and lumpia are rather expensive. The taste is so-so. It's OK and filling, but nothing to write home about - something between mediocre and bland.
Read moreThe fresh lumpia would have been good but there were 2 spots of sugar sitting in it that spoiled the taste of the whole roll.
Filling but I probably wouldn't come back except if I'm in the area and so hungry that I need food immediately.
Pros: Lots of vegan choices, Decent servings, Fairly priced set menu
Cons: Not amazing in taste, Expensive sides , Too much sugar used in some dishes

Vegan and veg Filipino and Chinese dishes - Edit
You can select 3 dishes and rice for 190 pesos per plate (if you choose plain rice, it's 170 pesos). Non vegans enjoyed the food too! Nice to see vegan versions of sisig, Bangus, Xiao long pao and more!

Great selection of vegan dishes, snacks & ingredients - Edit
Very nice selection of vegan dishes to choose from at the counter, great for a quick meal to eat inside or to take away. Outside they have a vegan street food stand. Furthermore there is a variety of packed vegan ready meals as well as cooking ingredients to buy. The food we had was fresh, cheap & delicious.

One of the best vegetarian Chinese foods in Manila - Edit
Good variety of dishes, using a lot of fresh vegetables with less "mock meat" stuff. Will definitely go there again and again.
Read moreJust check if their sushi items contain egg-less mayo or not. Sometimes they use egg mayo.
Otherwise, totally happy with them.
Cons: They used an egg-based mayo in their sushi items.

Definitely one of the best! - Edit
I make sure to drop by Vege Select every time I’m in Binondo OR if I need lunch. Their combo meal, which costs ₱160, is a good deal, I think. You can get 3 meals rice, which you can change to kiampong for additional fee.
Read morePersonal faves include beef/seafood noodles, curry, and this beancurd dish with gravy (?). Their tauho soup and kiampong are also VERY good. 😊
I attached photos of my favorite dishes from them! These photos are from Vege Select.
