Delicious vegan food, but you'd better reserve a seat - Edit
VEGA is a nice small restaurant in Madrid. I have been there for lunch. I recommend everyone to reserve a table but since I was alone it was easy to find a seat for me. I ordered the lunch-menu. The staff was stressed but nice. My menu was delicious, especially the seitan slices where tasty and I also loved the carrot cake.
Read moreConclusion: Yes, VEGA is one of Madrids best vegan restaurants but you should reserve a seat and bring some time with you. Sadly the menu is only in spanish – but the staff tries to help out.
Pros: Handmade vegan food, Menu is not that expensive, Creative kitchen
Cons: Menu only in spanish, Staff is a bit stressed, You better reserve a seat

Did not get the chance to try - Edit
My family and I are from Canada and I wanted to bring them to a vegan restaurant in Madrid. I found Vega on this website and it looked amazing! We input the provided address into our GPS and were taken to a random location with a housing development. We verified the address on three different GPS maps and all of them pointed to this random location. I am not sure if you have moved, or the address provided I just incorrect, but we spent 20 minutes in the car there and 20 minutes back.

Cons: Location map not tourist friendly!

The restaurant is located at Luna 9, I have been there. However this is mainly pedestrian area, not sure if you can access with the car. Maybe your GPS sent you to another place?

Hello, I am sorry to read an opinion based on your problem with your GPS and no with the restaurant itself. I understand your frustration not being able to get to our restaurant but I think it in not fair for us to have 2 stars opinion after the hard work we do to get the best in Vega.

Bonito y rico - Edit

very nice!! - Edit
Nice little restaurant. Good location. Food is great, staff speak english and spanish both. Menus are available in english. Only thing was, we did not reserve a table, so were asked to sit on a special table of 6 seats. Once it was filled up, guests who came in and dint book were asked to wait or come back later although there were plenty of unreserved tables...i thought that was odd.

gone downhill.... - Edit
We loved Vega the first few times we went but we've been really disappointed on our last two visits. The menu is the same but the recipes appear to be different. The salads and meatballs specifically used to be so delicious but are now tasteless ..... it'll be a while before we go back

My worst experience in Madrid - Edit
At first I had a good impression because staff was friendly and with excellent English and I liked how the place looks like. I ordered daily menu for €11,90 with 2 main courses (1 main course was something around €8) and dessert included in menu. They had 3 dished to choose from. First meal I got was the third option that I actually didn't order :-) It looked good so I decided to keep the food. In fact it was the only meal I actually liked here so in the end I am happy I didn't return the meal. The second meal I couldn't finish... not because of the size of portion but because I just simply didn't like it. I am not a slow eater but I was already 1,5h (!!!) in the restaurant. It wasn't only because the restaurant was full during lunch time, it was especially because they ignored me a good half an hour. After those 30 min I had to call a waiter and ask if they could bring me a dessert which was just the fruits with a coffee cream that didn't even go well together... I could actually skip it. Instead of €11,90 I paid €18. I do not think that the water I had did cost €6 also because in the receipt was written I had some additional menu. And if the water here truly cost €6 than it's really overpriced. Spent here for 2 hours, came hungry and left hungry too. I recommend you to avoid this place. Not only you get something different that you order but the food is not good either. For €18 it was a terrible experience.

I am sorry to read your opinion and we will try to make it better next time, It´s not normal to spend this amount of time eating. We work with people who just have a little time to eat and they keep coming as we are usually quite fast, but It could happen to you and I am sorry for it. We are a busy place and mistakes happens.
Read moreOtherwise I can understand if people don’t like one of the dishes we have, as this is very personal, but I can say the most of the people love it and this is the reason of our success.
If you have two dishes is impossible to leave Vega hungry as most of the people with one dish are full.
The price for two dishes, drink and dessert is 11,90, if you were charged 18 you should have said at this moment. Saying so you are welcome to come and we will give you back the 6,10 that we overcharge you.
Have a good day.

Loved it - Edit
Really nice, and not expensive. They offer a daily menu for 7'9 if you want one main course or 11'9 if you want two, plus appetizer, drink and dessert. Everything is vegan, homemade and organic. A bit small, if you go on the weekend you may have to wait to get a table, but it's definitely worth it.

Bad experience - Edit
My boyfriend and I chose the menu of the day and asked explanation about how it works, because you can order "one main" for 7,90 euro or "two main dishes" for 11,90. The attendant suggested we could choose the two main dishes and share everything. So that was what we did. We ordered one bottle of water (it was included in the menu), two main dishes and one coffee (it was supposed to be included in the combo because the dessert of the menu was not available anymore). Besides that we had beers and croquettes. When the bill was put on the table, they had charged us two menus of the day (7,90 + 7,90) and the coffee. About the coffee we wouldn't mention, because I had a decaf one, but my boyfriend complained about the two menus. The conversation was:
Read more- You charged us two menus, while we had a double menu to share.
- Yeah, but it doesn't exist "a menu to share", it's one menu per person.
- But your colleague suggested this "two main dishes" for us.
- Sorry, maybe you didn't understand right or my colleague didn't explain the way it works.
- We didn't have two menus at all. How you explain we ordered only one water and one coffee? If we had had two menus we would get two drinks, two plates and two dessert as everybody else.
- Sorry, you misunderstood something.
We were there the year before and the same mess happened. That time we thought it was our fault, we thought we didn't get the rules (although we speak portuguese and can understand spanish). But this time the first attendant emphatically suggested this option to us. And the second attendant didn't call the first one to clear this situation up. It was rude and disrespectful. It's not about the money, because we usually tip 5 to 10% of the amount. It's just not fair to be treated like dumb customers. Of course this time we didn't let any tip and we'll never go back.

If I was you I would avoid going to this place. Their snacks are nothing special and they serve really small portions. The employees there were a bit arrogant for whatever reason. Of course, it's up to you going to this place and feeling disappointed afterwards.

Great food, one of Madrid's best - Edit
Food tastes great even though they skimp a bit on the portion size, as I stated on another review. This is not a problem with the restaurant itself, more of a spanish pattern I'm recognizing along my experiences.
Read moreNevertheless, Vega is by far one of Madrid's best vegan spots, where you can have decent tasty food on a plate, rather than on a bun. They do serve a burger, either way, but I reccomend the seitan steak.
The pasta with soy balls is nice too, but me and other people as well found the yogurt dressing a bit too tangy.
If you plan on having dinner after 21h, be sure to make a reservation.
