delightful - Edit
I was excited to see that, since my last trip to Bangkok, Veg Japan had opened only a few minutes walk from my favourite riverside hotel.
Read moreThe staff are very warm and welcoming, especially the young man who I believe is the owner. The space is a calm, cool respite from the hot, busy streets of BKK. The menu is very clearly labelled for people who follow different vegetarian and vegan diets.
We ate there twice during our week long stay and tried a few dishes. Highlights were the eggplant agé bitashi, served cool with a light but tasty dashi, it is so tender it melts in your mouth, and the tofu katsu bento with a diverse selection of tasty little side dishes, each one as delightful as the last! The vegan sushi platter, served with a delecate miso soup is also to be recommended, with the refreshing iced barley tea to cleanse your palate.
Yes, the prices are higher than local Thai places but still very affordable compared to home and absolutely worth it for the standard of service, environment, and lovingly prepared dishes.
I'm looking forward to trying more of the menu on my next trip, particularly their homemade vegan black sesame pudding!

Japanese vegetarian - Edit
Vegetarian restaurant offering a big menu of Japanese food. We came on New Year’s Day and tried their B699 all-you-can-eat menu which was nice as we got to try many different dishes. The restaurant is small and simple but with nice atmosphere and chili background music. Service is excellent and there’s almost no wait. As for food, I would say although authentic Japanese dishes, definitely not authentic Japanese flavors good, just not great. I’ve tried their food a few times over the last couple of years and find the food quality consistent. Prices are pretty high, but not outrageous. There are several items on the menu made with eggs and/or dairy, make sure to ask for all vegan. I keep coming back because I feel we as a community need to support owners committed to a plant based lifestyle. I wish they took the extra step and went completely vegan, but nevertheless they still earn my business.

Sooo yummy - Edit
We ordered:
Read more- yamabushi kara-age bento
- kaké soba
- ice barley tea
Of this we would wholeheartedly recommend the bento. We both loved the lions mane, and I specifically loved the cold dishes (spinach with sesame sauce, inari, pickled veg, and some japanese root w sesame and some spiceyness). The sweet potato round was also good but not amazing imo. The miso soup was a typical miso soup.
The kaké soba was good but basic
The ice barley tea is not sweet at all, so keep that in mind.
I would come back just for the kara-age and the cold veggie dishes 🤩

amazing vegan japanese food - Edit
this place was a cozy little escape from the bustling city exterior, decorated like a traditional japanese restaurant, with some vegan promotional items scattered about (such as a vegan bangkok guide for sale!). the matcha latte was quite refreshing and not too sweet. i also got the kitsune soba, inari sushi and matcha daifuku, all of which were delicious and not too heavy! the owners were also super sweet, love to see it.

Maybe it just doesn’t handle delivery well… - Edit
No pleasure here in writing negative reviews, but this was a miss for me. The lion’s mane fried chicken arrived soggy and tough and rubbery, not tender like lion’s mane should be. It was served in a container on top of wilted brown lettuce that of course absorbed all the heat and got gross.
Read moreThe vegan nigiri unfortunately tasted like nothing. Just seemed like colored agar jelly on a bit of rice, with the only flavor coming from the little packet of soy sauce and the wasabi. The sushi rice was nicely cooked, at least.
Might give this place a try again in the future and actually visit the restaurant, but for delivery it was one of the more expensive meals I’ve ordered here in the past few months as well as one of the most disappointing.

The food here is very good. I tried the kitsune udon soup and a few different appetizers, and everything was very tasty. The staff is friendly and helpful. A big plus is that, unlike in Thai restaurants, drinks like green tea were not sweetened.

Wonderful!! - Edit
This place was very close to where I was living but I only discovered it on my last day in Bangkok😒However, I still made it a point to go once again just before my flight - that's how much I loved this place. It's not too expensive, wonderfully authentic and flavourful Japanese food with portion sizes that are VERY worth it! They have WiFi, great opening hours, wonderful staff that are so polite and willing to help with everything, and lovely ambience and decor as well! If you're vegan/vegetarian in the Sathon area - you HAVE to come here :D

You have to try the Daikon and Miso Dengaku! It was definitely the best Japanese appetizer I’ve had. It is a mix of miso and sweet cooking wine that pairs so well to the soft Daikon radish. Assorted sushi was delicious and perfectly seasoned.
Great people running this place. Very friendly #Veganuary
