So much more than words can transmit - Edit
One of the ultimate stand out vegan places I’ve ever been to in my life. The three of us had their famous £22 Sunday Roast extravaganza each selecting a different meat (roast chicken, lamb and turkey). You are also provided with a Yorkshire Pudding then it’s self-service vegetables and all the usual trimmings such as sauces, stuffing and lashings of gravy. I had a bit of everything, piled my plate high then proceeded to devour the whole feast with a pint of their delicious Posh Lager overlooking Petticoat Lane Market. Not a bad way to spend an early Sunday afternoon before hitting The Oval for some T20 cricket action.

no words for how utterly amazing this place is! beautiful, ethical, amazing food and the kindest staff who care so much about the place. had a great great chat with the staff who are so full of love and energy, very inspiring to be in an ethical place all about the animals. I had so much off the menu as I couldn't help myself it all sounded so good and it was just as amazing as it sounded, the surge burger is a must!! the seitan is also perfect at this place, best I've had. a must visit... thank you unity diner!!!

Great vegan grub for a great cause! - Edit
Everything on the menu is vegan and looks appetising. Although slightly pricey, this restaurant is not for profit - all profits go towards activism & an animal sanctuary, so I don't feel bad about spending a little more than usual on my food.
Read moreIt's mostly vegan junk food, but there are a couple of healthier options (I just couldn't resist the seitan chikken triple!! When in Rome...)
Pros: All vegan, Tasty, Charity
Cons: Slightly pricey, Bar/Social area would be nice

Very unique hot dog! - Edit
I tried the Surf'n'Turf dog which was definitely something very unique that I've never tasted before. It is topped with fried "shrimp" which I thought were not necessary, I wasn't able to bite into the whole thing anyway so I just picked off the shrimps and ate them first. They were alright and had a slightly fishy taste. The hot dog itself was very flavorful and the mayonnaise and onions went great together with everything. I got onion rings as a side, in my opinion, they need salt or any spices, they just didn't really taste a lot. My boyfriend got the Moving Mountain burger and he was quite disappointed, I took a few bites as well and I think that the patty is in need of a lot more spices and salt. The texture is nice and meaty, but I really don't get the hype, sorry. The staff was also very friendly and the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere.

EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS! - Edit
AMAZING, went for valentine's with my girlfriend and they had made the venue beautiful. fully packed out, quick service and attentive and very friendly but not 'fake' staff. Food was excellent, I had the triple stack burger which was one the the best burgers I've ever eaten and my girlfriend had the surge burger she said was fantastic. Excellent establishment and I'll be returning very soon

Just came for the moving mountain - Edit
Have been hearing everyone raving about the moving mountain burgers so decided to go UD to try it. The patty did not disappoint but the burger overall was alright. The mac n cheese was dry. Cheesecake was good.
Read moreWas also informed the chefs have requested no adjustments can be made to any of the dishes, i.e. Cant request no tomato in the burgers. Not sure if this was just a saturday night thing
Pros: Moving mountain burger lives up to the hype

Amazing and uplifting - Edit
I ate here a few months ago. Being vegan, I don't usually have room to eat three courses but the menu looked so tempting, I had to have three dishes. The food was so delicious and the people there very welcoming and so helpful. I was so impressed, I am going back with my family tomorrow for a birthday treat. To have a place like this to go to where you know your money is being put to good use as well as eating wonderful food, is priceless !

Great new venue - Edit
Wanted to eat everything on the menu!
Read moreWe had a group so managed to try...
Tofish with tartar sauce - amazing
Seitan "wings" and sauce - very good
Cauliflower wings - also good.
Mains
Moving Mountain burger - tall, tasty
Mac n Cheeze - very nice but randomly served with a lump of seitan. All good but possibly I'd prefer a big ol bowl of Mac n Cheeze without anything else
Loaded fries - good
Dessert
Sadly they only had chocolate ice cream left which they made into a sundae. It was fine but nothing to write home about.
Pros: All vegan menu, Friendly staff
Cons: Venue was quite crowded

LOVE IT! - Edit
This amazing restaurant is just a few minutes walk from Old Street station. Everything is amazing... the food and choices are fabulous, well portioned and well priced. We tried the tofu 'fish' bites and I had the vegan cheese sandwich with fries which rocked! Also has alcohol and it's a great place to spend an evening. It's also very nicely decorated and so awesome to know that the proceeds go to an animal sanctuary. Staff are lovely and friendly and If you are very lucky you may even catch Earthing Ed there himself as I heard he is often there, chipping in and working just like anyone else.

Breakfasat food wonderful... staff lovely but service slow - Edit
We ate here one Saturday morning and had booked a table (it was fully booked). The tables are quite small and there is no room to, say, spread a newspaper out and read while you eat. The door opens directly into the cafe area and so whenever someone comes in - this is written in January! - there is a huge amount of cold air coming in too... as the door closes quite slowly... so if you are a cold body.. ask for a table away from the door when booking. We were expecting to see a market outside, but there was none. The people serving were lovely... but the service was slow, as others have remarked. The full English (vegan) breakfast was excellent - apart, I would say, from the sausage which looks HORRIBLE (I won't say what it resembles... ) so if you are of a nervous disposition... ask them to miss it out or swap it for something else.. the 'bakon' was v. nice indeed, as was the tofu scramble. Lots of the choices contained pretend meat or fish, which is not something either of us like... Very à la ' trendy Hoxton'... Go, See, (wait a while)and Enjoy!

Amazing! - Edit
We have been looking forward to visiting Unity Diner since it opened and we were not disappointed - it was great. Vibe and layout of the diner is excellent and I love the painted animal mural! Brilliant menu, with loads of choice and cocktails were lovely too. We had a sharing starter with tofish bites, seitan chicken, onion rings and battered cauliflower, followed by the moving mountains burger and cherry pie for dessert - all of which was really tasty and fresh (and very filling!).
Read moreThe staff were really friendly, attentive and helpful, which made it an even nicer experience. It was also great being among other vegans. Its also nice to know that by visiting the diner, any profit helps the Surge charity, which is really important.
Thank you to Ed and the team for such a great venture - we will be regular customers:-)

Fab food - Edit
We went for a group meal with lots of veggies and a gluten free friend. We were all very impressed the prices seemed reasonable for London and the food was fab. The staff were very friendly and understanding that we were waiting on a few people. Plus it's one of the few places you can book a table nowadays.

Bring on eativism (eating + activism) - Edit
What could be better than eating vegan food whilst knowing that you are supporting Surge activism and a brand new animal shelter? The answer is of course nothing. For this alone I would give 10 stars!
Read moreI have visited twice now and have enjoyed eating here, though as it is a diner, I do find the daytime menu a little full on. I would like it if there were a few more options on the menu especially for breakfast and if some of the burgers were more planty. It is difficult to describe what I mean, but perhaps you get what I mean.
I really loved the surge burger and the bakon with my fry up, though I do think the scrambled tofu and the sausage I had with the fry up and the tofish I had another time are not as good as I have had elsewhere.
Nowhere is perfect and the food here is nice and it is supporting a good cause, so I will definitely visit again and again and again!
Pros: Eativism (eating + activism)!!!, Some lovely dishes, Friendly staff
Cons: Could be plantier, Not the best all around in terms of flavour

Yearning for more - Edit
I felt like I had to pay Unity Diner a visit after seeing it being praised by London's vegan Instagram scene.
Read moreWe ordered the Surge Burger, the Chickpea & Seitan Steakk, as well as the Fry-up plate for two. And the food was absolutely delicious! I especially enjoyed the to-fish bites with tartar sauce and the hearty and creamy burger. Still, considering what we paid, the portions could have been bigger.
Service was a bit slow, but I blame that on the fact that it was a very busy Saturday night. (This also contributed to it being quite loud, but that's nothing I would seriously complain about.)
Overall, Unity is a nice place to eat at when you want to treat yourself.

What a place. Some of the best burgers you're likely to encounter, and perfectly cooked chips fluffy inside and crispy outside. All this stuff is made to perfection and had everyone in my group singing with joy.
Read moreThe staff are friendly, courteous and attentive and happy to advise on choices.
Of course, the best thing of all is that this is for the animals, so your hard-earned is going towards a good cause while you get a delicious meal.
As veganism grows there are more and more establishments of varying quality springing up. I'm happy to say this is one of the best. Go out of your way to get here, you won't be disappointed.
