Fully vegan since 2019, this restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, snacks and cakes. For breakfast offers toasts or sandwiches like the edamame hummus or the cashew cheese with spinach. Also has fruit smoothies, tea and coffee. For lunch you can choose from a variety of salads, Buddha bowls or the menu (Mon-Fri). Desserts available. Open Mon-Fri 12:30-16:30, Wed-Fri 19:30-22:30.

Beautiful food, kind staff - Edit
Food here was absolutely outstanding. We had a tomato, rice and white bean soup to start, then a spaghetti with broccoli pomegranate. SO tasty, I think I inhaled the food rather than ate it, it was so beautifully presented as well. After this we both had a chocolate orange cake and it was so dreamy. The serving staff was a very sweet young woman, who luckily for us spoke English and we had a lovely conversation with her about the food and Santa Cruz.

Good choice of food for lunch - Edit
Enjoyed lunch here. The potato croquette starter was delicious and my partner had the mushroom shawarma which was amazing. I had the Buddha bowl which was nice but not spectacular. Still, so nice to find another vegan eatery in Tenerife. (The place in El Medano is delicious! 😋)

The options are quite limited- you can choose from one of two soups and one of two mains that change throughout the week. The options didn’t really have protein, reminded me a bit of the only plant based options at a high end non vegan place. They have ready made stuff as well, but these were quite simple / small. It seems like they maybe upcharge if you take a ready made things to stay instead of to go as the order total was quite high despite only getting some small ready made things (which also took quite a bit of time, which is totally fine since she was alone and there were several people but if you are in a rush it may be worth noting). The plating was really beautiful though and you can tell they really take pride in presentation! The coffee was a bit burnt tasting and not too hot. The vegan chicken sandwich is good and the atmosphere is very cosy! Beautiful interior design and very nice people working😄

I enjoyed the taquitos and tortilla sandwich but the mushroom pie wasn't so nice. It has a gooey texture. They brought out warm bread which we thought was complimentary but we were charged for it. They should ask first because I only ate it because it was there.

Smaller establishment with cozy vibe. We had multiple things form the menu and everything was really good! Definitely recommend if you are in Santa Cruz. Prices are also fair. The food arrived very quickly.

Glad we found this place on our port stop in Tenerife. We tried to find another place at the New African Woman Market, but no luck. Anyway, we stopped in for lunch and were offered the breakfast menu. We inquired about lunch and got a clipboard with the lunch menu. The Cheese Platter is NOT on the printed menu, but listed on the website.

Three of the cheeses tasted very similar and had the consistency of a soft caramel chew, but another was a dead ringer for Brie. Another, which I think is sold as the Roquefort, tasted familiar, but I could place it, and there was a soft spread, which we first thought was some sort of hummus. It had a taste reminiscent of Taki's. All were super tasty, and it was a LOT!
Next came the gnocchi, which, again, was a LOT!! The gnocchi were huge! Each were about the size of a "big-ass" grape and they were super soft, reminiscent of a mochi texture. The pesto was mild, but definitely basil-y. We were stuffed after those two dishes, but we had ordered the tacos, also. There were two tacos, piled high, but again, super tasty.
I would definitely return and try other items on the menu. Would def order the cheese platter again, too! Friendly and helpful staff. Check it out!

I had the menu of the week which was a very delicious pumpkin soup and salty pancakes. Unfortunately they didn't have the menu of the week in english and the waitress was also not eager to speak in english with us but we managed.

A good variety of food options here. Nicely presented and intersting flavours. The "mushroom pie" was a vegan quiche and probably the best thing we had. Starters were a bit greasy as deep fried. Small but nice to have some outside tables on a quiet pedestrianised street.

Good food indeed, but disappointed due to high expectations - Edit
I was really looking forward to go here. After I booked my stay in Tenerife I started looking up vegan restaurants and had a hard time finding one that looked a bit more high end/classy. Umami did look like it had a nice ambience and the menu looked good as well. And it's fully vegan! Since I was staying through Christmas and New Years I was hoping to dine at a somewhat fancy place and this seemed to fit the bill.
Read moreOpening hours were a bit unclear to me so I send them a message. Sadly it took about 3 months to get a response and by that time I was already home again. No biggie, I figured it out in time (they weren't open during the holidays).
They have two restaurants, both in the north of Tenerife. One in La Laguna and one in Santa Cruz.
I went to the one in Santa Cruz, and wanted to visit the one in La Laguna as well, but sadly had to change plans due to getting the local flu.
The restaurant in Santa Cruz looked nice, but not as fancy as I'd hoped. It is styled modernly and neutral. A lot of wood, which I like. The designs did however compromise on comfort. The wooden benches were not very comfortable to sit on. The locale in Santa Cruz was also very small. It was situated in a small and dark alley and only had 2 outside tables which were uncomfortably close to the street.
The food was okay though! I was really looking forward to trying out the Gnocchi dish but they sadly did not have the ingredients at that time so I had the Mac & Cheeze with mock chicken instead. Though the cheezesauce was great and the pasta cooked perfectly as well, the amount of mock chicken was out of balance. I would have loved a bit more mock chicken.
The cheesecake was good too! Nothing special but very tasty.
Though the cappuccino looked really nice, I thought it was too much, also the cup in which it is served did not feel comfortable to drink out of. These are ofcourse personal preferences, but the cappuccino just wasn't it for me. Another downside was the lack of decaffeinated coffee. I love coffee but I react rather strongly to caffeine, so I usually just take one caffeinated drink and then switch to decaf, which they didn't have.
The alternative they offered, which was probably off-menu, was a decaffeinated instant powder mixed with whipped warm milk to make a decaf cappuccino. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS AT ALL! Stay clear of the Ikea decaf cappuccino! Not worth it.
Overall it's a fine place to eat, but due to me having high expectations I was disappointed.
