Toe nail cutting - Edit
Food was basic and obviously reheated, as in took less than 2 for my order.
Read moreI’ve had better for the same cost.
What was particularly grim was one of the ladies cutting her toenails on the table next to me.. thankfully it wasn’t her serving me, or I would have run out.
Cons: Toe nail cutting in restaurant, Reheated food

Great food served in homely setting! - Edit
Generous portions with all dishes priced 40k. We ate Hue noodles, had a kinda sweet brooth with pineapple and different mock meats, also tried marinated vegan meat with rice which was delicious. The passion juice had a really potent and nice flavor.

Use fish sauce - Edit
This is a little eating place in the owner‘s house. They have an english menu with pictures. Unfortunately, they brought me the wrong dish anyway – instead of stir fried noodles with fried spring rolls I was given dry cold rice noodles with herbs and reheated spring rolls, along with a pot of fish sauce which I was supposed to pour over it! I hate to say it, but they don‘t seem to know what vegan is. If you eat here, make sure to point out that they shall use soy sauce instead of fish sauce when preparing your food! Prices are very cheap (for touristy area).

Are you sure it wasn't vegan fish sauce? Because it is common in vegetarian restaurants here

Top quality local food - Edit
Tue Tin Chay Quan is a short walk from Bui Vien walking street, but being down a side alley, doesn't get too much spill-over of tourists.
Read moreAlthough the women that run this restaurant speak very little English, it has a picture menu that's been translated to English, so it's pretty clear what you're ordering.
Almost everything on the menu is vegan, and the prices are very reasonable. All food items (barring some desserts) are 40,000 VND, all drink items are 25,000 VND, so you can happily order a couple of things without spending too much.
This became one of my go-to restaurants in Saigon. I thought it really had character.

Super! - Edit
Sometimes I don’t understand what people think or expect oder whatever… pretty big portions for 40 Dong (not even 2$) per meal are - in my opinion - cheap cheap cheap!
Read moreFood is delicious, if you don’t like the spice you can adjust to your taste with all the given sauces/lime/peppers. Women there are really friendly.
What I don’t like too much sometimes is fake meat (and there’s a lot) but still it’s very delicious and filling. Came here 4 times ☺️
Pros: Cheap and delicious fresh food, Lots of vegan meals (some vegetarian as well), Friendly stuff

Most amazing vegan restaurant I've tried in a while 🤩🤩 - Edit
This place is a real gem and to be honest a great place to eat whether your vegan or not, but most especially if you're on a budget.
Read moreThe food is really good, and I waited until i left Ho Chi Minh to post this, so i could try as many things as possible from the menu .
So, everything is 40,000 Vnd and the drinks are between 10,000 vnd and 25,000 vnd. I went there my 10 days in Ho Chi Minh and sometimes twice a day.
Many of the options come with a soup included and the portions are really big. Plus when you become a regular (after my 2nd time there) they also were giving me a drink soon as I would go in! Oh and dessert , which was jack fruit - completely free. Also the food comes out so fast and it always tastes fresh.
The ladies don't speak english but they are very sweet and encourage you to use the translator in case you need it for some questions.
Some of my favorites were the seaweed rice, the spring rolls, the curry, and the stir fried rice noodles. I mean everything is amazing but those were my top top choices.
Honestly, just an amazing spot and hope others enjoy it. They also deliver, or you can order there and take it to go.
Pros: Super cheap , Many options , BECOME A REGULAR - GET a drink

Great little vegan cafe (cheap) - Edit
Second day in HoChi Min and wanted to try this last night (late) but was closed. We are staying in same street so it was a dream walking in here at 730am for a massive feed. We ordered 4 mains and 2 drinks for 2 of us. Probably just order 3 main to share not 4. Nearly all meals 40,000VND and very decent potion sizes. The ladies don’t speak a lot of English but very nice and helpful.
Read moreVegan meat vermicelli bowl was very good.
Yellow noodle bowl was surprisingly delicious.
Wasn’t a HUGE a fan of the spring rolls.
Drinks were awesome.
Everything was 205,000 VND, we have them 220,000 and said enjoy the tip. They were grateful! Will return again. Simple and delicious. Great job!
Note - been back 3 times since and can say this so the BEST value vegan feed in district one hands down. They gave me my vegan pho minus the tofu and add in vegan beef and spring rolls dish as well for 80k, and because we were regulars a free drink with refills. Great family. We always tip a little as well. The best pho I had in Saigon to be honest. Get your self down here. Don’t speak good English but use a translator. Ngon = delicious.

Absolutely delicious - Edit
So glad I found this place! Located really close to Bui Vien street, it’s such a gem. The prices were super reasonable for the amount and quality of food you get. The ladies there don’t really speak English but they are really nice and helpful. I went for the braised meat soup with spring rolls, it was to die for! Highly recommend.

This place has a large menu of rice and noodle dishes that follow traditional Vietnamese dishes without the animal meats. They also offer green tea which is a common drink in Vietnam. The staff don't speak much English but are friendly.

The staff speak little English but are very friendly (they have even put this on the menu!). A decent range of food all priced at 40k. The pho is very good, I would rate it 2nd in the city (the best is more than double the price). Up an alley buy easy to find as there’s a sign at the bottom of the alley. Definitely worth a visit.

Must visit restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City - Edit
I visited almost every day during my stay in Ho Chi Minh City and defenetly recommend it for you all. Food was delicious every time and portions are generous. They also serve complimentary ice tea. And if you like ginger then you should try their homemade ginger ice tea. My favorite dishes were Bo kho, Bun thit nuong and Bun cha gio. The menu is big enough and all dishes cost 40 000 each. Moreover, the owner is always happy and welcoming. And lastly, the dining area and kitchen are both clean.
