Vegan options that will offend your tastebuds - Edit
I ordered their vegan melt and my husband ordered one of their breakfast sandwiches, the Harlow Lake Sunrise Sammy made vegan. They say they have food for all diets, but that doesn't mean it's good.
Read moreMy melt was...weird. It was vegan cheddar cheese, vegan mayo, vegan cream cheese, vegan bacon, tomato, and diced jalapeno. It was visually unappealing and it was too goopy. The assortment of cheeses and condiments did not make sense, and the diced jalapenos don't make sense on a sandwich.
The unmodified breakfast sandwich has red pepper hummus, fried egg, feta, cucumber, tomato, and spring mix. On the menu, it says it can be vegan for $1.50. His sandwich came out with hummus, cucumber, tomato, and spring mix with a slice of vegan cheddar. There was no replacement for the egg and the feta was replaced with cheddar. Why did we pay extra to have less? Also, the hashbrown that came with the sandwich was soggy and it tasted like fish.

Vegan Melt Okay - Edit
They had two vegan options: one spicy and non-spicy. The Vegan Melt looked good, I don’t think the bacon agreed with my stomach. I’m not always the biggest fan of mock meats from a restaurant. I was also a little bummed that they had no vegan cinnamon roll option.

Cons: The bacon didn’t agree with me. , Cost

I would give 5 stars but this app won't let me - Edit
This place is amazing. The drinks are good and most can be vegan. We love all the vegan choices here including the vegan BLT ( it's not on the menu but they have it...ask for it it's amazing). The staff is so friendly and fun. The atmosphere is cozy. And you can earn points for free things so that's cool!

Lots of vegetarian options and a few vegan too. I had a Blueberry Matcha and a vegan BLT on rye breAd. Happy to find a place that had options besides veggie burgers for lunch.

Staff says "we don't have vegan cheese slices", puts dairy cheese on a vegan sandwich instead - Edit
My recent experience at Trenary Toast was the one of the more bizarre encounters I've had at a restaurant in the 10 years I've been vegan.
Read moreAt first this looks like a great place to eat in Marquette. The menu labels vegetarian items (with a leaf symbol), and describes another symbol (cow) as "vegetarian or vegan possible". This is *not* the case. Most of the items highlighted with a cow are not even potentially vegan. If you want to eat vegan here, you will need to ask about everything in your particular sandwich, including the bread options.
Unfortunately the staff isn't likely to be helpful. We ordered two sandwiches and specifically requested "the vegan option". They gave both of us sandwiches with dairy cheese on them. When we asked what had happened, they said that Trenary Toast "does not have vegan cheese slices", and the option shown on the menu is to make the sandwiches *vegetarian* instead. In this case that meant that our "vegan" sandwiches had multiple meats substituted with a single alternative (vegan bacon), and the dairy cheese left on it.
The menu isn't even consistent on this point. If (as stated by the staff) the cow symbol meant that the sandwich was "vegetarian *OR* vegan possible" (but not necessarily both), then every vegetarian sandwich on the menu should have had the cow logo. But this is not the case - the grilled cheese is vegetarian but has no cow, for example. That certainly makes the menu more confusing for a hapless vegan who happens to wander in. Apparently they have both non-vegan (vegetarian) bacon as well as vegan bacon, so that's another issue to watch out for.
I wouldn't bother with this place.

Great! - Edit
Great drinks. The cinnamon, smore chai was amazing. We also loved the cinnamon bread from the rack in back.
