Very authentic! - Edit
Clearly marked vegan menu! Very tasty, authentic Tuscan food. We had the ribollita, Zolfini beans, black cabbage pasta and the pasta with vegetable ragu. Highly recommend!

Good restaurant for a mixed group - Edit
I had the toasted bread with Tuscan beans to start, which was gorgeous with olive oil and black pepper. Then had the gnocchi which was really good. Wouldn’t have found this gem if our travel agent hadn’t reserved us a table for our first night in Florence.

Fantastic Vegan Options - Edit
What a relief to find a family-owned authentic Italian resto with many vegan options denoted on the menu! I had bean soup, penne with pesto and black cabbage with a side of chicory. Healthy and delicious.

Selection of dishes available, but nothing special - Edit
A good place to visit if dining with a non-vegan. Plenty of clearly labelled vegan options on their menu including: a vegan salad (€8), 4 soups (€7), wholewheat pasta in a ragu of seitan (€9), penne pasta with asparagus & cherry tomato (€8.50), spaghetti in a spicy tomato sauce (€8), seasoned vegetables stewed with soy bits (€10), various sides (steamed vegetables, grilled vegetables, white beans, swiss chard, potatoes, salad). Dessert: fresh fruit salad (€4.50). Cover charge: €2 per person. (Many restaurants in Florence include a cover charge in the bill.)
Read moreOverall - a good selection of dishes, but presentation was poor. I got the seasoned vegetables stewed with soy bits - but I would describe it as very well cooked vegetables with a chopped up soya burger. Nothing to shout about, but great to be able to eat out with an omnivore. The staff were warm and helpful and had great English.

Bad - Edit
The main course was nice, there weren't a tos of option but it was tasty. The dessert was the problem, I ordered a Chesnut cake with "soy" ice cream.
Read moreIt turned out to be regular ice-cream so just be careful and ask everything! Maybe it was just that day but it turned out to stain the whole experience.

By far my fave so far - Edit
So many marked up vegan options, lovely atmosphere, pleasant staff (who speak perfect English, if that sways it), and food is healthy and fresh. I enjoyed a wholesome gnocchi in squash sauce with a side of steamed veg.

Proper Italian food - Edit
First thing - Happy cow sent us to the wrong end of the street and I had to use another review to find it. If you're walking to v. Faenza from v. Bernado Cennini, turn right on Faenza, not left.
Read moreI went here with omni friends and it was perfect for that as it had good options for everyone. Vegan options marked clearly and was proper good Italian food - not just salads cobbled together so they can market themselves as catering to vegans.
I had a gnocchi style pasta with seitan and tomato sauce and it was amazing. It felt like authentic Italian food with a lot of care put into it.
Pros: Very tasty, Clearly-marked for vegans
Cons: None

Lovely place - Edit
I was staying near the restaurant and decided to have dinner there one evening after a long day of walking - and as Il Vegano was closed for their holidays during my stay (until the 12th Sep). Staff were really friendly and knowledgeable about vegan foods (there are a few vegan influences apparently :))
Read moreHad Tuscan breaded bean soup, which was comforting and wholesome, followed by a grape tart, which had the perfect balance between sweet and bitter, no need for ice-cream/cream (as we would probably do in the UK) as the sprinkling of icing sugar on top was perfect. I don't normally have dessert but this was really good.
Sat inside as outside was full but atmosphere is nice inside as well. Certainly wasn't the only vegan in the restaurant that night, which was good to see! And really good for the restaurant as well.
Pros: Tasty, wholesome good, good portions, Knowledgeable staff with very good English skills, Location (for me anyway!) and atmosphere

A-mazing!!! - Edit
Omg! Favorite dining experience of our italy trip. They staff is super sweet and when we said we are vegan they offered great choice of on and off menu dishes. All equally amazing. Fresh and so local. The soups you just want to keep eating and the pasta is exactly like when we visit local friends in Florence

Tasteless food - Edit
Food was very disappointing. Tasteless over cooked pasta that was drowning in olive oil. They kept giving us small baskets of bread, which they charged us €2 per basket for! Especially with the food being so disappointing and the small, it wasn't particularly cheap and definitely not worth it. Better to just order a pizza marinara at a non-vegan restaurant than to go here just because they have marked vegan options...

Don't give up on finding this place ! - Edit
We followed the directions through Happy Cow for this place and ended up at a place where no restaurants were in sight. We had pretty much given up when we stumbled upon it. And we loved it! Good food, friendly staff and owner. Great place when some are vegan and some aren't. When walking on Via B. Cenini, Happy Cow has you turning left onto Via Faenza, but you need to turn right.

Was looking for a place near my airbnb to satisfy both my meat loving family and myself and found this Trattoria. I had the tuscan white bean soup and the black cabbage pesto pasta and both were very tasty. Decent prices, too!

Traditional Tuscan Cuisine - Edit
This was a lovely restaurant for a traditional Florentine meal that included labeled vegan options. The vegan options were a little limited, however, the atmosphere and wonderful staff really make you feel welcome. There might be other more "robust" vegan options in the town, but if you want to say you experienced a traditional Tuscan trattoria and ate an "authentic" meal, then I would highly recommend trying this place out, it was the best pasta I've ever tasted.

A lovely place! - Edit
A very lovely place to eat! I want there with my non-vegan family and everyone had a wonderful time. You can clearly see which dishes are vegan and vegeterian.
Read moreWe tried all the soups on the menu (all vegan) - the tomato soup and the toscan soup were great, but I would skip the vegetable soup since it was pretty simple.
I also tried the vegan ragu - it didn't blow me away but it was very tasty. If I were to come back, I would try the pesto pasta but sadly I'm leaving Florence.
Overall, great experience and good service!

Nice dining experience - Edit
The restaurant is located in a side street in Florence, not far from the train station Santa Maria Novella.
Read moreThe restaurant opens at 7 PM, so take that into account.
There were not a lot of people in the restaurant, and the quiet street contrasted with the bustling city of Florence. Has outdoor seating.
Vegan/vegetarian options are clearly marked on the menu.
The restaurant is a trattoria, which means it serves traditional Tuscan food.
As a first course I took the pappa al pomodoro, a tomato soup with bread, which was delicious. The portions are of good sizes; not too large but not too small either.
For the main course I took ragú with chard, it was very tasty. As a side dish I took the fried potatoes, they were nice but a bit too salty.
Overall it was a very nice dinner for a fair price, for approx. €15-25 per person.
The restaurant does, sadly enough, not serve vegan desserts so I recommend getting some vegan ice cream at 'Perche Nò?'. They have a lot of flavours and also soy, almond, and rice based ice cream. Link:https://www.happycow.net/reviews/perche-no-florence-30280
Pros: Veg options are marked on menu, Tasty traditional cusine, Outdoor seating, good location
Cons: sells meat, diary and eggs

lovely dinner - Edit
As the restaurant was close to our hotel, we arrived for dinner at 8pm, thinking that was still early enough, but the place was packed. Even though we didn't have a reservation, they found a table for us. We ended up chatting with the British couple next to us, so the atmosphere was very friendly and warm. We ordered a very reasonably priced bottle of rose which was lovely on a hot day. The vegan items are clearly marked on the menu, but the waiter (owner?) confirmed with us that we were vegan. We started with two very Tuscan soups, pappa al pomodoro and ribbilito. Both just absolutely delicious. We also shared the zucchini pesto pasta and gnocchi, also delicious. We were too full for dessert, but overall, the evening was just lovely.

Lovely lunch - Edit
Ate lunch there a week ago, the day we were going back home. Lovely family run place, friendly english speaking staff. Vegan and vegetarian dishes clearly marked on the menu. Reasonably priced, outside seating.
Read moreI ordered stuffed tomatoes and my husband had pasta with truffle. Everything tasted divine!
Unfortunately they didn't have the chestnut cake dessert which I came for, as it obviously belongs to their winter menu. Had a home made pannacotta instead. Unusual consistency, softer as the kind of pudding we are used to, but tasted lovely.
Overall a nice place! Will surely come again when in Florence.
Pros: food, location, price
Cons: none

Excellent food w a very good vegan selection - Edit
Very friendly, family run restaurant in the heart of the historic centre in a very lively part of town. Hesitant at first to go in because we didn't see anyone in, but we were wrong! There were loads of people, you just couldn't see them unless you stepped in. Food was excellent. had the classic pappa al pomodoro, followed by sedani (a type of pasta) w spiced sei tan and then Swiss chard. We were too full for dessert but the vegan chestnut cake looked so good. Vegan dishes are clearly marked. They source local olive oil and are great at making suggestions for food and wine. Excellent English if your Italian isn't up to it.
