Serves meat, vegan options available. Buffet style Icelandic restaurant serving a variety of plant-based side dishes. Call ahead to make a reservation - specify vegan. Open Mon-Sun 12:00pm-2:00pm, 7:00pm-9:30pm.
My mom & I just had dinner here. She eats fish and said it was the best fish of her life. The buffet includes several starters, all of which are vegetarian or vegan. Of the starters, only 3 were vegetarian rather than vegan. I was very happy with my meal. The barley risotto was a dream. It can be hard to find places that serve great vegan/vegetarian and non-veg food so, if you’re traveling with omnivores, check this place out. Or even if you’re not with omnivores, go! Reduced price for vegetarian/vegan. Also, the atmosphere is convivial & chatty. You sit at long tables next to locals & tourists. You will most likely start talking to people which makes for a fun evening.
This is a super cute „traditional“ place, which a big buffet mostly about fish, but they have a plenty of vegan sides like Risotto, potatoes, red beet salad and more and everything was very nice and plenty enough. The staff was also super friendly and knows what‘s vegan and what‘s not😁 also for vegan „menu“ we paid only half the price😄
Maybe call before you come over as we have been very lucky to walk in right before dinner starts.
Wow. Just wow. This is in the top 10 meals I have ever eaten in my life. I've been twice since moving here, and the food has always been excellent.
When you call ahead, let the owners know that you are vegan and they will be sure to make you a special appetizer and extra sides if possible! I was so full and satisfied each time.
Tasty and healthy plant based side dishes and great atmosphere - Edit
I knew that this is a popular fish restaurant but I wanted to go anyway for the experience. I called ahead to make a reservation and asked if they can cater a vegan diet. No problem. It's a cozy restaurant with a great homey atmosphere, amazing music on vinyl and funny host. The dinner is buffet style. Fish soup with bread as starter, many plates of fish on the buffet. But also around ten plant based side dishes ( potatoes, beetroot salad, cabbage, salad with oranges and nuts etc.). They were served in extra bowls. The staff also knew which dishes are vegan and which ones are vegetarian (butter in the two mashed potatoes dishes). You can eat until you're full. Also there is free coffee/tea/cocoa to take as much as you want.
It was a great experience and would go there again.
