Unbelievable flavors - Edit
This place is not only super cute with it's jungle-zen outdoor seating atmosphere, but it also serves absolutely fenomenal high quality home made food that looks and presented like you're in a 5 star restaurant. We stayed in Panglao for 4 days, and we ate here 5 times (one time we ordered to deliver at lunch time, yet we were back by dinner). We tasted nearly everything on the extensive menu. Absolute fans of their Lechon Kawali, the Filipino BBQ, the squash soup, the burger steak, the Veef Broccoli, and OMG the home made kimchi!!! We hope to be back someday. Thank you for your culinary expertise.

It’s Okay - Edit
On a busy highway outside Tawala, the main tourist zone, it’s accessible via jeep and bus (which I wish I’d known before wasting a hefty cab fare to get here). The water wasn’t working on my first visit (so god only knows how the cooks were washing their hands).
Read moreThe food is reasonable veganised Filipino dishes, but nothing to write home about. Both times I visited some basic things were unavailable or out of stock, or the barista had left so they couldn’t make coffee.
The shakes are absolutely terrible - like a glass of crushed ice with a tiny bit of fruit - for 160 pisos.

Pros: All vegan, Large serves
Cons: Average stodgy fare, Negligible vegetables, Terrible ‘fruit’ (ice) shakes, Out of the way, On a busy road, Overpriced

Tasty vegan food - Edit
The food was really tasty, you can eat Filipino vegan food.
Read moreI really recommend this restaurant because in Panglao it's sometimes difficult to find vegetarian and vegan food, sometimes they write it's vegetarian but it contains vegetables and meat.
So here there is no confusion, everything is fully vegan!
Pros: I tried the vegan Kare Kare, it was delicious, Very friendly staff, Nice restaurant with a fan outside

5 Stars - Edit
In a quiet corner of Panglao, Bohol—just minutes from the sea—sits a space built on intention.
Read moreVegan Shack Bohol isn’t just about plant-based food. It’s about reconnecting with where food comes from.
Every plate tells a story of local soil, coastal air, and the hands of Boholano farmers who grow the ingredients we use daily. Vegetables harvested nearby, coconut milk pressed from local produce, cacao sourced within the island—simple ingredients, elevated through care and creativity.
We take familiar Filipino flavors and reimagine them into something lighter, kinder, and more conscious—without losing the soul of the dish.
Because for us, sustainability isn’t a trend. It’s a responsibility.
And every meal is a small step toward supporting local communities, protecting the environment, and creating a space where people can gather, slow down, and feel at home.

Great owners, good food, cute dogs - Edit
We ended up eating at The Vegan Shack at least once a day during our stay in Panglao, and honestly, we would have happily gone even more often.
Read moreIt’s the only fully vegan restaurant in Panglao, and the food was consistently delicious. We made a point of trying different dishes every day, and our absolute favourites were the dumplings, chickpea masala, lumpia, and the vegan chick’n & sisig. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared and full of flavour.
The flan was such a special highlight for me. I haven’t had flan since going vegan over 10 years ago, so being able to enjoy one again was a really unique experience.
The sticky mango dessert is Filipino-style, not the coconut-sweet version you might expect from Thai cuisine. Instead, it comes with a rich chocolate sauce that is incredibly yummy. It’s not overly sweet, so if you’re expecting the Thai version, this is different. But if you come with an open mind and appreciate that it’s its own style, you’ll really enjoy it.
On our last visit, we had the chance to speak with the owners. They are genuinely lovely people, and you can clearly see how much heart they put into this place. They shared their story with us and explained that they don’t make much profit, they run it out of devotion and passion. They truly care about health, fresh food, and quality ingredients.
The staff were always attentive and kind. And for anyone who comments about waiting times, this is a restaurant, not a fast-food chain. Everything is prepared fresh, so a little patience is part of the experience. We were on holiday and absolutely didn’t mind the wait.
Another beautiful part of this place is their dedication to rescuing and caring for dogs. We loved hearing the stories of the ones there, especially Cosmo and Katsu! They were so well behaved and incredibly sweet.
As a chocolate lover, I would personally love to see a chocolate shake or a few more chocolate-based desserts on the menu 😂 but truly, everything we had was wonderful.
They even gifted us some coffee bags to take with us, which was such a thoughtful touch.
We would absolutely come back if we’re ever in the area again. A special place with a big heart 🤍
There were some dishes I forgot to take pictures off, but here are a few.

Zdecydowanie warto tu zaglądać i wspierać.

Nice food - Edit
The food is tasty, nice. I am happy there is one fully vegan place on the islad. It just takes them quite a time to get even the drink sometimes. And you have to wait for the food for sure. The are mamy options on the menu, something is more tasty, something less, but i appreciate that they are trying.

Disappointed after the good ratings here - Edit
Seems a newly built, small but comfy place. Outside, very nice during evenings when it's cooler.
Read moreWe took the food with us, and must say the tast was very disappointing. Meatballs and inside dumplings tasted the same: like not really matching spices, not blending, and warmed up more than once.... The lumpia's were ok. We don't understand the good reviews here... or maybe we got spoiled by the great food at Veganize Bohol (Tagbilaran) and the Vedge Bohol (at the chocolate hill's resort - Panglao)
Pros: Evenings a nice spot to sit and socialize, free water, Lumpia's were eatable 6/10
Cons: spaghetti with meat balls: 2/10, Dumplings 3/10

Lovely FULLY vegan place with amazing people - Edit
The vegan shack is a fully vegan restaurant using organic food and keeping the prices low for the locals to start eating too. The food is amazing and the people might be even more amazing. The beautiful place its located at and the minimalistic design of the shack makes it a lovely place to get away from it all. They are on an amazing mission to get the Philippines to eat more vegan, so go over there, enjoy and support the mission. Go here!!

Best vegan food on Panglao - Edit
After living on Panglao for close to a year, I've found the Vegan Shack to be easily the best vegan option around. Affordable, delicious, local, and healthy. Also one of the only places I've been to on Panglao who care about looking after dogs - the owners have multiple rescue dogs that they have saved from the streets and look after, I overheard the owner mentioning that he had thirteen, but I'll double check the next time I'm back.
Read moreI've had multiple things from the menu, but my favourite is the vegan chicken and the sushi!

The venue is small and away from the more touristy spots so a great find. It’s cool inside which is great if you need to escape the heat and outside area had a lovely breeze. Beautifully decorated little place. Owners and regular patron were super friendly, they gave us advise on other spots to try too.
