Best place in town for vegan options (very little choice in Mallaig)

July 2024, open only for dinner, 6-9 pm. I was glad to be staying at West Highland Hotel, since one of the two nights I dined at its in-house The Terrace Restaurant it was open only to hotel guests. I believe staffing in Mallaig is challenging. (Although I had the vegan soup-of-the-day one day at nearby The Chlachain Inn’s pub, there is very little in town for vegans, other than at the Co-op grocery store.)
I had two dinners at The Terrace. Besides a vegan soup with sourdough bread, there are two vegan mains on the menu: a burger and pasta. The Penne Arrabbiata (tomato sauce and black olives) was tasty and served with a colourful salad, both generously sized. The meal arrived promptly, and the young staff are efficient and pleasant. Alcoholic beverages available. The next evening I had the spicy bean burger, which was good and came with green salad and fries.
Don’t miss the red receptacle for tips.
There is outdoor seating as well. Do book ahead for indoor seating.
