Good food - the only vegan brunch place in AVL! - Edit
I'm super glad that we have The Smokin' Onion in Asheville! It's really nice to have a 100% breakfast/brunch place. The atmosphere is 5/5, the workers are 5/5, and the food is pretty good. The only thing is that the prices are a bit high. I've been there twice now and would go back again!

Service: ?/5, Quality: 5/5, Value: 3/5

Overall: Delicious food, a must try!
Further:
Service- we did takeout (unrated)
Quality - very delicious food. Everything we had was good. I really liked the trashy burger. While I'm not usually a fan of the cop out impossible patties, the toppings along with adding house bacon made it quite the treat. The cheesecake was some of the best I've had in recent memory.
Value - price was somewhat high but portion sizes were fair and i left satisfied with how much i ate
Vegan options - everything was vegan. I reserve 5/5 for all vegan restaurants🤘
Pros: good portion sizes (filling!)
Cons: limited seating (especially patio)

Great breakfast spot - Edit
We went here for breakfast and got the biscuits and gravy, which had fried green tomatoes on top and the “chickn” and waffles. Both items were great and it wasn’t very crowded, so we were served fast. You can get breakfast or lunch all day, which leave a lot of options.

Absolutely loved our visit to the smokin’ onion! We stopped by at lunch time on a road trip home. It was slammed! The kitchen handled it like a boss. Food came out in good time, hot food, picture perfect, and sooooo good. Restaurant was clean. We got to chat with the owner. Staff was friendly and helpful. The only challenge was parking—not their fault. I would 1,000% recommend this place! They had healthy options and soul food options.

The word “amazing” seems inadequate… - Edit
When I heard the owners of The Smokin’ Onion food truck had opened a brick and mortar location serving breakfast and lunch I couldn’t wait to try it, and I was definitely not disappointed! The tricky part is trying to decide on what to have with so many great choices. In addition to lunch offerings that will be familiar to regulars of the food truck there are wonderful breakfast options. In addition to things like oatmeal and avocado toast, there are pancakes, biscuits and gravy, ‘chick’n’ and waffles, a couple of different bowls, and a breakfast plate. Both the breakfast plate and the pancakes were absolutely delicious I couldn’t resist getting a side of gravy to put on the biscuit…and was very happy I did! I’ve been a fan of the food truck for a long time, and now I know where to go for a great vegan breakfast! Wishing them great success here. Well done!!!
