Veganes Abendessen - Edit
Ich habe 3 Nächte in Monteverde verbracht und jeden Abend im Open Kitchen gegessen, da es in der Nähe meines Hotels lag und es ansonsten auch nur wenige Möglichkeiten für ein veganes Abendessen in der Nähe gab.
Read moreIch hatte den veganen Burger, die orangene Suppe und die Falafel. Den Burger fand ich ok, die Suppe gut und die Falafel haben mir am besten geschmeckt. Die Portionen waren immer großzügig. Es gab auch veganen Karottenkuchen, allerdings bin ich nicht dazu gekommen, diesen zu probieren.
Preislich lagen die Gerichte für Costa Rica im normalen Bereich und waren nicht übermäßig teuer.

I had the vegan burger, with a side of hummus, and a shiny flax smoothie. I asked the waitress if they could accommodate onion free, and she assured me that they could.
Read moreUnfortunately both my burger and my hummus came out with onions on them. She replaced them for me, and the hummus, fries and smoothie were all very tasty, but I didn't enjoy the burger. It was heavy and not very flavourful. I should have listened to the other reviews about it.

They have breakfast all day long so I had a breakfast spirulina-granlola-fruit bowl for dinner while my husband chose the burger. It was delicious and I especially enjoyed the fries that I tried!

Happy To Find This Place - Edit
It was really tough to find a restaurant with multiple vegan options in Monteverde. So we were very happy to find this place. The service was great, people didn't look at us like we were aliens when we asked for vegan food, and the food was tasty. Especially the soup!

We stumbled across this place by chance and delighted to find lots of vegan options. The people I was with had an acai bowl and shakshuka (vegetarian). Coffee was excellent and service too

We like the restaurant so much we came back and ate another time. We had breakfast one time and lunch another. Good fresh ingredients. Many vegetarian/vegan options. Highly recommend the vegan burger. Very very good. Parmesan fries were also awesome.

Unfortunately, we had a very poor experience at the Open kitchen. After ao many good reviews, we were eager to try. However, our food had a worm on our eggplant dish. The staff apologised but it ruined our stay there. Need to be more careful washing and prepping the vegetables. Maybe next time.

Overpromised & Underdelivered - Edit
This restaurant looked attractive from the street, but was a great disappointment. Initially, the service was fine, but once we received our food, things went downhill. When our Moroccan Couscous was delivered, the soupy bowl contained no couscous at all, just some veggies in a thin broth! One of the two supposedly identical bowls contained predominantly carrots, whereas mine had mostly cabbage. No one came to check on us and when we finally flagged someone down, it took a long time before we received the missing couscous. It finally arrived, but the cook had obviously not tasted the stew. The turmeric was overbearing, making the stew, which seemingly lacked other seasonings, quite bitter,. My healthy smoothie with banana, cacao nibs and coconut milk was much too sweet. Also, the large open windows in the back along with the completely open front made for a perfect wind tunnel on this chilly evening. The evening was disappointing on many levels and the staff made no attempt to improve things.

I had the orange soup (no oranges, it's just the color lol). Omg. They make great soup in Costa Rica! I had the feta salad too, which was really good! If your in the Monteverde area stop by!

Vegan options are clearly labelled, and there are a few options. We both had the burger which was very heavy and the patty was squishy. It had decent flavour but was overall very stodgy.
Read moreThe hummus starter was great though. The hummus had lots of flavour and was creamy. The bread isn’t really a pita as other reviews say but that wasn’t a problem for us - it tasted good.
Their smoothies are really good. We had the mango, papaya and almond one which was seriously good. (Plant milk was available)

Cons: Overly stodgy/heavy burger
