Vegan backpacker

Love trying out yummy vegan Western foods here and there. Waffles brought me here but, the veggie grilled baguette was the winner over the waffles. The baguette was delicious.
Sadly the waffles themselves were very hard. I wouldn't say stale but I had to eat them like avocado toast, a knife and fork couldn't cut through them. The toppings however were amazing! They take the cake. Would also like to point out I came midday, so maybe waffles were made in morning? They weren't made to order, although the toppings were. Pricy for Sri Lanka but yummy.

Cute and Cozy Cafe

The Native is a small, cute and comfortable cafe located off a side street close to Weligama Beach. We came here at lunch to relax and have a snack. The space is very trendy and Instagram-friendly, with many different places to sit either on their patio or in their garden. There were a few decent vegan options on the menu. We had the date caramel coffee frappe (the caramel is vegan) and the Pick & Dip mezze platter. The frappe was awesome and the platter was simple but quite good. The platter has a sriracha mango chutney, a tomato salsa, and a coconut sour cream. It’s served with fresh vegetables, pieces of lightly toasted bread, and some cassava chips. There were other heartier vegan options on the menu, so you should explore! Overall, good food and pleasant environment. Would highly recommend for hanging out and spending an afternoon.

Great variety of vegan dishes

Its hard to make scrambled tofu taste good, but this place absolutely nailed. They also offer a vegan waffle with nice cream, if you‘re in the area make sure to pop by!
