Staff bit meh - Edit
We said we were vegan. Waiter said/knew we could have pickle tray without the mint sauce/yoghurt pickle. Why then did he bring it to us? We had a platter of 3 pickles w the popadoms, but only 2 edible ones (lime chutney and a sweet red ketchup-y one). Were we missing out on a third one, did he take something off the tray (an onion one?) we could have eaten?
Read moreWe wanted another round of drinks. Couldn’t catch the waiter’s eye (it was not busy, a Thursday evening).
Went to pay. Waiter wanted us to eat the after eights. Seemingly still not understanding we were vegan.

Fab - Edit
In a town with very few vegan options, this place is great!! I had the mixed vegetable Balti and it was fab, great spice levels and absolutely loads of different vegetables!! With rice and chapatti and an onion bhaji, a thoroughly enjoyable meal. My mum can't eat spicy food (total opposite to me) and had a wonderful mild spiced curry which she thoroughly enjoyed too and again full of vegetables, hers had bananas in it. The menu is really well designed to show mild and spicy choices!! Staff were so friendly and attentive, just won an award last week for best Indian in Northumberland and one of the chefs won a chef king of the North East award! Very inclusive for vegans and gluten free customers. Sorry no photos taken!

Indian Delights - Edit
Very enjoyable dining experience, with fellow ambassadors hack_man and craigmc, where we had the following:
Read more*aloo gobi
*bombay aloo
*tarka daal
*vegetable bhuna
*vegetable madras
*rice
*poppadoms
*pickle tray
All our dishes were very flavoursome and nicely spiced, with the tarka daal, aloo gobi and bhuna my favourites.
Staff were friendly and attentive, and in total our bill was great value at £60.

Great value - Edit
A trip out with the legends Hack_man and Deadpledge.
Read moreAfter a journey across the water for some cake and a session, we needed something more substantial.
A couple of mains and three sides was plenty to keep us going — although Hack_man definitely ate more than the rest of us!
Decent flavour, good variety, and great value.
Pros: Value

Cheeky Pineapple Side Dish is Fun! - Edit
So, this place is kinda old skool BIR. But they do it really well. The absolute highlight were the tandoori Roti's: the BEST vehicle for tackling the base gravy variations. Our curries were great (initially felt under-salted, but that might be because most British Indian Resteraunts over-salt!). The waiter was great: had an encyclopaedic knowledge of each dish. Negotiated our way to some happy choices.

Delicious curry - Edit
Lovely meal of veg dupiaza, channa masala, peas pilau, chapati and samosa. Once I said I was vegan the waiter immediately fetched the manager to help, which was very helpful. They mistakenly brought After Eight mints with the bill but did apologise later. The food was delicious.

Cons: Watch out for After Eight mints with the bill

Knowledgeable staff and delicious meal - Edit
Apologies for the poor quality photos however this was an absolutely fantastic meal! The staff member was so knowledgeable and reassuring that even though vegan options weren't listed on the menu that they were absolutely able to cater to us. We had vegetable samosas to start and we were steered away from the onion bhaji which gave me extra reassurance that staff knew we were vegan and not just veggie. We then had vegetable bhuna and dopiaza with chapatis and rice for the main which were lovely! I'm a big Indian fan and I felt the bhuna was quite mild so if you like spice I'd maybe go for a slightly hot/hot curry rather than medium - will definitely return when we are back in the area 😊

Wonderful Place - Edit
We had a fantastic Christmas Day evening meal here in friendly and welcoming surroundings. The food was tremendous and staff were fully knowledgeable about all vegan options. I went for a couple of sides (Bombay potato and tarka dhal) with rice which were both excellent. The pickles and popadoms to start were fabulous too. I’d say this is now one of my favourite Indian restaurants.

Get Magna Carter - Edit
Had a couple of really enjoyable meals here in what is undoubtedly the best Indian in Berwick. Not that there’s much competition. The staff are attentive and make sure you are well looked after. When I asked for a hot vegetable madras they certainly made sure it was hot. Just as well I can handle it where others would concede defeat. They will make pretty much anything you ask for even if it’s not listed on the menu such as a mushroom dhansak. The interior is quite impressive and they have Cobra on draft.

Fantastic takeaway - Edit
This was my first takeaway curry since becoming vegan so I wasn't too sure what would have ghee or not, but the staff member who took my order knew the menu really weel and took his time explaining the options and recommending alternatives to my past favourites when I was vegetarian.
Read moreWhen the takeaway arrived, everything was clearly labeled with the vegan food having this highlighted as well.
The food itself was absolutely fantastic. The mixed vegetable chaat was so full of flavour and the vegetables were very fresh.
We wouldn't hesitate to order from there again.
