Good food, good beer, fun atmosphere - Edit
In a historic hotel we expected a posh, if not pretentious, atmosphere but the Guildford is not that at all. It's an architecturally imaginative rethinking of the lobby and several other ground- and first-floor rooms of the vintage hotel, a courtyard, and an adjacent old theatre, and the vibe on a Sunday evening was youthful, lively and still welcoming for an older couple like us. I thoroughly enjoyed the vegan option version of the pan-fried golden ricotta gnocchi — watch out, it's intensely spicy — and my other half liked the Humpty Doo barramundi gumbo (named after a town in Northern Territory) with prawns, clams, mussels, crispy skin and salsa verde. As a pescatarian, I tasted it and loved it, too. The choice of 18 mostly craft beers was excellent. I counted 12 vegan and vegan-option items on the menu, only 3 of which were sides, and lots more vegetarian items. By the way, it has on-site free parking and a nearby train station.

Food is a bit hit and miss. Some is great, other items lacking. Overall recommended though
