Love - Edit
The whole experience at the Grain is ace. This location especially is painted vibrantly and the staff are adorable. Food options here are endless: sandwiches, salad, pizza, breakfast, but my favorite is their Oaxacan specialties. Pro tip: buy a bottle of their homemade hot sauce.

The Grain Cafe is very tasty! Been here a few times and I liked everything. I wouldn't get the waffles again because they were a little dry for my taste but they were still good. Love the atmosphere with their outside dining area.

Still can't believe how bad it was - Edit
I ordered the huevos rancheros and it tasted like it had Campbell's tomato soup at the sauce. It was so bland and just horrible. It was by far the worst I have ever had. I would give my meal 1/10. My husband got the huevos chorizo and he gave it a 5/10.

So Many Good Options - Edit
The extended family went for brunch, we were all very happy. Everything was delicious. We had nachos, quesadilla and chilaquiles with red sauce. All great, particularly the chilaquiles. My wife and I shared the veggie crepe and the tofu and cheese crepe, both outstanding especially with the homemade hot sauce they have. I tried my sons waffle with fruit, amazing. The tofu scramble looked delicious as did the sausage pasta my niece got. My other niece got tacos that were plated beautifully and she said we’re good. I have had the pico crepe before and was amazing. My younger son had the chocolate crepe, demolished it so I think it was good. My in-laws had the grain crepe which they enjoyed. Will definitely come again

Some good, some not so good. - Edit
So this was the second time I've dined here and I've found the Sopes on the Oaxacan specialty menu to be better at the Long Beach location. The masa base of the sopes is supposed to be firm (to hold shape and the ingredients that top it), but soft so that it can be bitten through. That's how they were served in Long Beach and this is what one of the wait staff told me at this location when I asked. The masa was tough and leathery and impossibly to actually bite through. A knife was needed to actually cut it apart. Not so good.
Read moreI ordered the Mole Burrito which I thought was very tasty. Hubby thought the mole had a weird flavor, but it worked for me. It was a large portion and it's something I would definitely order again. Hubby had the Chicken Fajitas, which he found a bit dry, so he asked for some pico de gallo. What came looked like tomato soup (hot) with some chopped up tomatoes, onions and other ingredients in it. Maybe just skip the tomato soup part next time?
I'd go back just to try other things on the extensive menu. Stay away from the Sopes, though!
Pros: Large menu, Friendly staff
Cons: Sopes not prepared correctly (or so I'm told)

Excellent food, great, friendly service - Edit
We were in LA for a PCRM event. The Grain Cafe was near by so we stopped in on two occasions for food. We were pleasantly surprised at the options available, full menu served all day. Our first meal we shared a tofu scramble and a berry crepe. Both were delicious and well made. Our second outing featured the Grain breakfast (pancakes, tofu scramble, home fries and sausage) and a Rueben (my wife loves Ruebens). which were super filling and delicious as well. The service was great. Do stop by when you have a chance.

Dessert to Go - Edit
I had the breakfast plate long ago and for the price point, it was not enough, thus I never got it or anything else again except for - dessert. This is the only reason I swing by when the Grain has the mix-berry and/or carrot cake. Just a slice. Not overly sweet and crafted not the break in a million pieces.

Good vegan food and bakery - Edit
This place used to be one of my favorite vegan restaurants but I think they keep changing their recipes. Every time I come in my favorite items have been changed and everything tastes different. Still good food though, and a great place if you don’t know how they used to make the food. I personally just miss the recipes from a few years ago. Also the cakes are soo good!

We were visiting from out of town & blown away by how extensive the menu was. We ordered a bunch of different items just to try them out! Brought my mother here who has a nut allergy & our waiter was excellent at helping us navigate the menu. Bonus, our oat milk lattes had cute foam art 💖
