The Gate

I really like this location but wish the entrees were better. I can't remember the name of it, but I got a shredded veggie dish topped with avocado and tofu that was doused in (what I think was) a soy sauce -- it was not great. My dining partner go the mushroom risotto and wasn't very impressed. We did, however, really enjoy the appetizers, which included fried cauliflower and the chickpea fries.

Used to be better 😬

Main course was smaller (and less satisfying) than starter (and cost three times as much )
Otherwise pleasant place . Food is good but nothing to write home about. Previous visit that was 2 years ago was way better . Please revert.

Good food but was hoping for a little bit more

Good food, but a little under expectations. Health is definitely not the focus there. The fried polenta was good, the mushroom risotto was ok but under seasoned, and the tiramissu was just ok. A good alternative, but was hoping for more flavorful food that enhanced the ingredients. There’s something missing in the seasoning. They charged for the water, which was not nice.

Classy, vegetarian restaurant - perfect for special occasions

I visited The Gate in November 2019 but I’m new to this site and really wanted to rate this place and tell everyone to go.

It’s a vegetarian restaurant with lots and lots and lots of vegan options.

I went on a Time Out Voucher (3 courses and a glass of wine for £25) and it was super worth it. Food was delicious and great sized portions. We were all stuffed. I also went with two meat eaters who loved the place so much it inspired them to become vegans.

The veggie juices are good. I would make some food recommendations but the stuff I recommended before is no longer on the menu apart from the Courgette Flower and the Beetroot Cheese Burger.

I’ll definitely visit again and update my review with newer pictures and more current food recommendations.

If you are thinking of going, just google the Time Out voucher and go. The food is beautiful and well worth the price 😋

Pros: Delicious Food, Value for money, Classy restaurant

Exquisite vegan options!

We celebrated my father's birthday here - the staff were all super friendly and we loved what we ordered. Thai curry, Mexican tortilla, a delicious salad. For dessert we got the crumble and the brownie. All of it was yummy! Came back with my friends around christmas time. The aubergine schnitzel was incredible and the mango cheesecake to die for! Salivating at the memory! Worth the money.

Lovely vegan celebratory meal!

Visited the Gate for a celebratory meal a few months back and thoroughly enjoyed it. Courses are well presented and elegant. Absolutely loved the tortillas, Thai curry, polenta chips and mango cheesecake! Staff very kindly arranged for a candle to placed in the brownie too! Highly recommend this wonderful restaurant.

Pros: Spacious restaurant , Diverse menu , Professional presentation

Fine dining

Spacious, open space with semi open kitchen. We arrived early and were able to have a conversation across the table. That became a bit harder when the restaurant filled up. Service was very good; attentive yet not bothersome. We took advantage of a special three course offer - I struggled slightly even though the portions were reasonable. Definitely of size where you’d want to have two courses or sides with the main. Beautifully presented.

Elegant vegan dining

We previously visited the Marylebone restaurant which was great but quite noisy & felt a little cramped & rushed at times, in contrast this space although busy felt more comfortable & the sound is much better. The staff could not have been better, the portions are generous so leave plenty of room, food is fresh & delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening & will return often I suspect.

Pros: Generous portions, Creative menus , Good value

Delicious Breakfast!

The Gate has really great vegan breakfast options, beyond just porridge! We had delicious vegan pastries and croissants and the full english breakfast which was a substantial meal. I like that they have some protein rich vegan breakfasts like the full english and a huevos rancheros. Basically anything with egg you can sub tofu to make it vegan. You will not leave hungry! The service was great and the space is light and airy too.

Pros: Delicious food, mostly vegan, beautiful space
