Fabulous choices, super friendly staff

I love all the vegan options, but it would be good to have more starters. I particularly liked the bar staff swapping out dairy ice-cream for vegan ice-cream in the cocktails with ice-cream such as Jack Frost and Popcorn.

Pros: Super friendly staff, Reasonable prices, Can always get a table

Cons: Bit noisy as it's very popular , More vegan starters needed, A varied selection of hummus would be better

Bland and heavy

I went to Barbary Coast last month. I was hopeful because they had several dishes called out in a vegan/vegetarian section (I'm vegan). I got the Noodle Stir Fry, which was labeled as a "new recipe." It look impressive when they put it in front of me, and it is HUGE! Tons of veggies and lots of noodles. Unfortunately, it was very bland. It had just the slightest teriyaki taste to it and once I moved the food around it was very watery/liquidy. I stirred it up hoping it would have more flavor somewhere in the dish, but it didn't. I ended up eating as many of the vegetables as I could and a few of the noodles, but it was very disappointing. I also ordered a frozen raspberry margarita from the mocktail menu, and asked them to make it non-mock. It was a fun drink, but I doubt there was more than a splash of alcohol.

Pros: They're trying, Large portions

Cons: Bland, no flavor

Reduced vegan menu

Vegan options have become more limited. They used to have a good vegan burger which is no longer on the menu. The vegetable wrap and fajita that are now available are a bit flavourless and overpriced. Still, nice family atmosphere, particularly with kids and friendly staff.

Good food, large portion, but overpriced

I enjoyed the food (got the noodles from the takeaway menu). However, they were 15 pounds, which I found much compared to many other restaurants in the area.

Pros: Allot of vegan options, Fast service, Multiple vegan options on takeaway

Cons: Very expensive for what you get

Great experience

The staff here were absolutely the nicest! Even on a busy night they fit me in at a table and made sure I was well sorted. Got the squash soup and the tex mex salad thing (freaking HUGE) and both were tasty :)

Pros: Clearly labeled options, Nice staff , Good food

Favourite pub

When on IOM last year, this was the restaurant we visited the most, because of the vegan options and how easy it was to get there, since it's in the centre of Douglas. I've tried several dishes. I've eaten the noodle stir fry, the vegetable fajita (without the sour cream), the lentil soup (which is apparently not on the menu anymore) and the chocolate ice cream from Oatly, which all tasted great! Even though i'm not really a fan of chocolate-flavoured ice cream, i liked my dessert very much. It was a bit fudgy. Very tasty.
The restaurant is pretty large, so there's often a table left. The atmosphere is good, the staff friendly and they have all types of dishes, so i would definitely say go there when you're at Isle of Man.
