Impromptu Brunch - Edit
We just happened to be driving through Honiton, Happy Cow pointed us in the direction of The Accidental Vegan. I forgot to ask about the name , I'm sure there's a story there. Food was great, we had the breakfast burrito and the tofu scramble English muffin and got cake for later.

Very nice little place - Edit
Although rather small inside it makes up for this fact with very tasty high quality vegan food. Menu is often changing and there is also a good selection to teas and decent coffee along with scrumptious delicious cakes!

Not dog friendly - Edit
It was completely empty but would not allow us in with a very small dog.

Thank you for your review. I am sorry that you were upset that our policy is to allow assistance dogs only into the Cafe. It is a decision that was not made lightly but we felt that for the size of the cafe and the openness of the kitchen that this was the best approach. Also, we have a number of customers that are fearful of dogs, whatever their size and there is no space within the cafe to sit separately. Although the cafe was empty when you arrived, this changed quickly. Agsin, I am sorry that you were upset, but I hope you managed to enjoy the rest of your day. In the future we hope to move to bigger premises where we will be able to welcome all customers, 2 or 4 legged.

Great little cafe - Edit
My vegan family (with 2 kids under 3) stopped off for lunch at this lovely little cafe. The lady was really welcoming and helpful - getting us settled with high chairs etc ...and the food was great! We shared a Buddha bowl and a "taster plate" with 5 differnt things on it. Yummy... oh and the chocolate cake and banana bread for pudding was outstanding! Highly recommended

Great Pit Stop on A30 to Devon/Cornwall - Edit
We were travelling down to Dartmoor and needed a pit stop for food and found this place via Happy Cow just off the A30.
Read moreThe car park nearby in New Street is 50p per 30 mins so it's not expensive to stop off.
It was so nice we stopped off on the way back too! The lady running the cafe was really nice and friendly. The food was great and fresh. There is a good range of lunch options. I had the all day breakfast burrito which was really really good, it wasn't your bog standard breakfast items, it was scrambled tofu, black beans, avocado, tomato which made for a great combination.
The coffee here was also really good.
It's not something I normally note but there was a choice of 3 salad dressings 2 of which we managed to try both of which were very good indeed and really brought the salad to life without overpowering anything, great attention to detail here.
The cakes were all brilliantly made and delicious. Try as many as you can (you can buy to take away). The cherry bakewell flapjack was especially good.
Pros: Attention to detail, Infinitely better than a service station., freshness of food
Cons: Sadly 2 hours drive from us!

Fresh and delicious! - Edit
We had the pleasure of stopping off at The Accidentally Vegan Cafe on our way to Dartmoor. Perfectly placed for a pitstop on the way down. We were delighted with the lovely fresh food, plenty of choices and wonderful cakes! The servings are generous and prices low for the excellent quality of the food.
Read moreI'd recommend the cream tea, cornbread pudding, victoria sponge, chocolate fudge cake, cupcakes, cornbread AND the Bakewell flapjack. All of which I tried and were thoroughly enjoyed!! (We brought cakes home although I would have been tempting to scoff the lot there!!)
Overall really whole hearty deserves the 5 stars I'm giving it. Can't wait to come back!
Pros: Super fresh food, Daily changing specials, CAKES!!!
Cons: We live nearly 3 hours away!

A real treat - Edit
Fantastic to find a totally vegan cafe. I sampled a taster plate which was a little bit of everything on the menu.......when I say little that's how it was described. When it came it was plentiful. Hummus, Cornbread, Quinoa butternut squash & almond bake, Cheesy Pasta bake and a lovely curried bean wrap....gosh it was all so lovely and I felt very happy to indulge in vegan heaven. Excellent home cooked type vegan food and great value.

Some of the best things in life are Accidental - Edit
Whenever I’m lucky enough to visit Honiton, I always head to this lovely, very affordable, little family-run café. And if I haven’t time to stop, I get something to take away. The food is home-made – and made with impressive skill and care. This is no fast-food joint dishing up any old stuff, but a café serving tasty, creative and varied meals. And large portions in many cases, so check before you order if you have a modest appetite as there are smaller options. Smoothies are not to be missed; try one of the fruity ones with your meal: gorgeous. Then finish off with some sinful, but yummy, cake. The owner makes fabulous cakes, flapjacks, cornbread, etc and there’s usually something new to try. The size of the sandwich cakes needs to be seen to be believed. With a wide and varied menu, there is something for everyone, even if you’re not vegan or vegetarian – and all at very affordable prices. If you aren’t a veggie, you will still receive a warm welcome at this friendly café. It really is a place for everyone – I have taken a couple of non-veggies there on several occasions who happily testify to that. But for vegans especially, it is incredible to have so much choice. I often struggle to decide what to have because I’d like to have several dishes! There is a solution to that problem, though: the taster plate with a selection of several things, including a small wrap and a small soup. Did I mention the soups? They are home-made, too. The pea soup is especially tasty. The teas and coffees are excellent as well.
Read moreI just wish the café had larger premises, then it could welcome more customers to enjoy the amazing food, including anyone who uses a large wheelchair. I hope this café prospers – it certainly deserves to. The family puts a great deal of effort in to providing wonderful, delicious food – some of the best I’ve ever eaten. For me, the only downside is that I don’t live in Honiton, so can’t visit often enough. I wish it was on my doorstep.
Pros: Very affordable, Lots of variety, with choices to suit everyone, Home-made food
Cons: Small building

Perfect - Edit
Popped through here on a quick food diversion after a day trip away. So glad I stopped. Lasagna, garlic bread and salad were homemade, delicious and fresh. Pot of peppermint tea was a great size; I got 3 cups out of it! The cake was divine. Couldn’t fault it. And all for just under a tenner. Amazing.
Read moreThe cafe itself was pleasant, if a little lacking in atmosphere. There was no music or background noise so it was a teeny bit awkward being there alone!

An Accidental Find! - Edit
We're staying in the area for a few weeks and were so happy to find a vegan cafe nearby (not to mention surprised!). I can't sing the praises of this lovely cafe loudly enough. We went at Sunday lunch time and had an absolute feast, all for under 20 pounds. The food was excellent, the lady who served us was delightful and it was just so reasonably priced we thought they had made a mistake. I really, really hope this cafe survives and prospers because it is tucked away on a side street off the HIgh Street and it is very small - it deserves to be in a prime position where everybody can find it! I don't have a particularly sweet tooth but one thing I did enjoy occasionally pre veganism was a cinnamon roll - a treat I thought was no more - but what did I find for dessert? Yes a vegan cinnamon roll - I was too full to eat it and had to take it away but it was absolutely divine, the best cinnamon roll ever. Good job we're only here for 3 weeks, I'd be too big to get through the door! We're back for lunch next Sunday and we have to fit a breakfast in too. Thankyou Accidental Vegan for giving us an eating out venue where we actually have a choice!

Just Amazing! - Edit
Perfect little cafe for any little or big vegan! Nothing was too much trouble and they adjusted items on the menu to satisfy our very tired, very hungry little vegans!
Read moreThe food was incredible, everything was homemade and utterly delicious, just could not fault a thing, only thing we wish is that it was closer to us as we found it on holiday so probably a bit far too travel for lunch, it would however be totally worth the 2 hour drive!
