Creative and delicious

We went recently for our first time. The staff was friendly and helpful and the food was great, including both simple and elaborate choices. We will be back soon!

Great Thai food!

We arrived for an early dinner after a hike and had the place mostly to ourselves at around 3pm. Menu was quite large, so it took a bit of time for us to decide. Ended up getting the Roti and Crab Rangoons for an appetizer, Thai Khao Pad fried rice and soupless Tom Yum Noodles for our main course, and a Strawoffee for dessert, as well as a Thai Iced Tea.

Main course dishes were huge and delicious, as good as any Thai I've ever had. The Roti was especially good with the curry dipping sauce. The Crab Rangoons were delicious and practically undistinguishable from any non-vegan crab rangoons I've had, which is quite impressive, because I've had some unfortunate vegan cream cheese before. The Strawoffee was a toffee sauce, oreo, strawberry, and whipped cream parfait, very good and very decadent!

We were asked for a 0-5 spice level and chose 1 for both of our entrees because I've heard 3 is quite spicy. 1 was barely spicy to me, so maybe next time I'll just try the 3!

Pros: Many options to choose from, Quick and friendly service, Delicious food

Cons: They somehow were out of spoons, Pricy, but not more so than other Thai places, A few items were sold out on the menu

An amazing experience - HIGHLY recommend

Everything we ordered was phenomenal. Everything was high quality and extremely flavorful. Presentation was gorgeous and bith savory and sweet was delicious. (My non-vegan father was extremely pleased!) The whipped cream in the dessert was the creamiest non-dairy one I've ever tried.

We ordered: Thai iced tea, Thai coffee, Crab Rangoons, Pork Belly, Pads Se Ew, Yellow Curry Fried Rice w/Pork, General Tso's Chicken, Creme Brulè, Banoffee, and Mango Sticky Rice.

A GOOD PLACE TO TAKE NON-VEG FRIENDS/FAM!

The waiting staff was so friendly and helpful, answering every question with enthusiasm.

Splendid

Cannot get enough of this place.
Does not offer typical Thai American cuisine, but more diverse dishes usually not found.

AH-MAZING!!!!!

My husband & I have wanted to come here for so long and it absolutely didn’t disappoint! We decided to start with the Crab Rangoon appetizer and when it was served my husband said, “hello old friend” 🤣 because we used to love them before being vegan!! The rest of our meal was awesome too — sooo good!!!

Excellent Food. Tons of choices.

It's been a tough winter in New England so I haven't been able to go out and eat in a long time. But we're experiencing an early Spring so I decided to hit up this highly rated restaurant.

First thing I noticed was their Menu, it's Huge. With so many options, I couldn't get myself to choose. There's definitely enough to try something new for multiple visits. I started with their Fresh Dumplings appetizer, which caught my attention cause they were blue. But their color is no gimmick. These dumplings are packed with flavor.

The waiter recommended the Tom Yum Ramen, so I went with that. I was asked for my Spicy level preference, which was appreciated. And these ramen were as DELICIOUS as they were SPICY. There were so many flavors woven throughout the dish. Absolutely amazing. I was dining solo, so the portions was a bit big for just me. No problem as I asked for a to go box.

I didn't want to leave without a dessert so I ordered a crème brûlée to go. So the next morning I had myself some dessert. It was a creamy custardy delight.

Everything was great, I definitely recommend this spot to anyone in the area.

LOVE this place!!

My favs are the Yum Kai Sabb (spicy fried chicken) and the rice balls! So delicious and never disappoints! Their Dalgona coffees hit the spot if you need a little energy boost. I’ve had a range of things from the huge menu and there’s always something new I want to try.

Hours need to be updated as they are not getting enough business to stay open weekdays. Please support them if you can!

They also opened up a food truck recently in New Haven. I’ll find and send the updated hours.

Thai Flavor Bomb

We’ve been following Aroy Thai Gardens on Instagram for months and were excited to work a visit into a road trip to New England. We were blown away by the authentic Thai flavors and unique dishes we haven’t seen at other Thai restaurants. The pork belly and crab Rangoon apps are a must. For entrees, we went with Pad Ped Pa and Tom Yum Kee Mao Ramen. Both were exceptional. We can’t wait to come back.

Pros: Authentic Thai flavors, Friendly Service, Great ambiance

Worth a trip

The menu is huge, and it was hard to make a decision! I settled on the Thai curry with vegan “pork”, and it did not disappoint! Our Thai teas and “shrimp” roll were fantastic as well. Service was attentive and friendly. This place is definitely worth a special trip.

Good but some things were spicer than expected

I can't figure out if this was just a GrubHub issue or a restaurant issue. I tried checking their menu on their website but it never loaded for me. It seems like they don't really have spice charts, or at least not a varied enough one. As "this is spicy" and "this is not spicy" are not exactly a wide metric of descriptions.
That being said, the food that wasn't too spicy for me was really good and my boyfriend loved all his food since he could handle spice.

A must! *edit 2025 to 4 stars

I’ve been meaning to go to Aroy for a while and I’m so good I did. Everything was delicious. I can’t wait to go back.

2025 edit: returned and was turned away. ☹️ Arrived on a Saturday evening and we were turned away because we didn’t have a reservation. A bit of a bummer since there were a lot of empty tables and we drove a half an hour to go there. Unsure if we’ll make the trip again specially for this place.

Favorite Restaurant

I love Aroy Thai's vast and frequently updated menu. Every dish I've tried has been bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. It is my go to restaurant for special occasions. I sometimes eat by myself there and the waiters/staff are all very friendly and welcoming. It's so great to have a fully vegan, authentic Thai restaurant nearby. There are other special dishes from other Asian cultures as well that are just as delicious. A must try for all CT vegans and visitors.

Pros: Flavorful food, Unique, Large menu

Terrific Thai food!

I was excited to try this restaurant when visiting family that lives nearby, as I rarely come across all vegan Thai restaurants during my many travels and love Thai food. It didn’t disappoint! All the appetizers and entrees my partner and I got were great. I especially loved the cashew cream cheese filled wontons. My mango curry was only a spice level 1 but seemed too spicy for my preference, so I personally disagree with a prior review saying the food isn’t spicy (I know it’s subjective). My partner’s only complaint was not enough protein/tofu in his pad thai.

The restaurant itself was a lovely space. I talked to the owner while I waited for my take out order, and she was very kind. I could tell she is very passionate and really cares about the vegan cause.

Pros: All vegan, Tasty, Great space

Worth a visit!

It's great to have a fully vegan Thai place in CT. It isn't super close to us, but was worth the trip!

The menu is large, the serving sizes generous, and the food tasty. The range of vegan meat they offer is impressive too. Looking forward to my next visit!

Unique Thai spot

The owner is a sweetheart and I love that this is an all vegan Thai/asian-fusion establishment. Love that they feature so many different vegan protein options like duck, seafood, and pork.

However, it's not my favorite Thai place and I find the flavors a little lacking and not what I was expecting.

Haven't had an entree that's wowed me yet, and I find it odd that so much of it has five spice and too much oil. I love spicy food as well and always ask for spicy level 5, and it's always incredibly mild.

I'm always really impressed with their appetizers, drinks, and desserts. Their dalgona coffee is amazing, maybe a little too strong on the caffeine as it starts giving me anxiety halfway through drinking. But still incredible and highly recommended.

Cute interior, nice location, and very friendly/helpful staff.

Pros: Unique vegan protein options, Huge menu, Friendly staff

Delicious flavorful food

There are so many options to choose from and everything I have tried has been absolutely delicious. The only thing I would be careful of is the spice level! They will ask you on a scale of 0-5 how much spice you want. Even a 2 is very spicy. The staff is always so nice and I love that they put effort into the presentation of the meals as well

Vegan nostalgia

I used to eat at the old Thai restaurant at this location years ago, and learning it is now a vegan restaurant enticed me to return now that I am vegan. Great flavors and spice levels, large assorted menu that would please vegans and omnivores alike! I recommend the Thai iced tea and the spicy basil fried rice.

Hands down best vegan thai!

It's no surprise that Aroy Thai Garden's was voted Best Restuarant for Thai and Vegan / Vegetarian by Connecticut Magazine! Overwhelmed by all of the wonderful choices, our very friendly server recommended everything we ordered.

-Fresh Spring Rolls: So light and refreshing with a sweet and spicy dipping sauce
-Vegan Crab Rangoon: It contained cashew, so I did not eat them, but my husband loved them!
-General Tso with Thai Khao Pad (fried rice with vegetables): The General Tso was crispy, spicy (level 4) and hint of sweetness. I love that extra sauce came on the side to keep the dish crispy! Fried rice was amazing! I have not had fried rice in a looong time because its often made with butter or broth. Incredible!
-Pad Moo Makhua pao: Perfectly cooked and grilled tender eggplant with stir fried vegetables with impossible beef. So delicious and spicy (level 4).

Each dish was elevated, pack with flavor, hearty portions, and spice! A must go to if in Middletown, CT. There is plenty of parking on the street or in the surface lot behind the restaurant. Downtown Middletown is THE destination for vegans in CT with Aroy Thai Gardens , Ion, and vegan friendly options.

Pros: Flavorful, authentic Thai and Asian Fusion, Spicy is actually spicy!, Plenty of Parking

Vegan Thai Food!

Everything was so flavorful and delicious! I had the Khao Soi and it was great, I was a little skeptical about the tofu pocket appetizer that we ordered (mostly because I wasn't sure what it was gonna be) but it was actually a highlight of my meal 😋

Pros: The Tofu Pocket, The Dessert!, The Mango Smoothie

Cons: There wasn't anyone else dining in 😣, The drinks were EXPENSIVE

Impeccable!

Currently, Aroy is my favorite restaurant in CT. A year ago, they changed ownership and converted their entire menu to be 100% vegan! How amazing is that!

The owner is the kindest, sweetest human on the face of the earth. The food is incredibly delicious, authentic and comforting.

Because the menu is fully vegan, I feel comfortable knowing that I can choose absolutely anything on the menu, and it’s all safe for me to eat!

Diner’s can choose from an array of vegan protein items. You can choose the more traditional route with tofu/seitan or more adventurous mock proteins like chicken, duck, beef and so on! I have been multiple times and tried a new menu item each time and I am never disappointed. I love the vegan crab rangoons and my personal favorite way to end each visit is with a serving of their coconut cake. It’s a tres leches style cake with fresh coconut— which is not only delicious, but a natural digestive as well! And the customer service is always stellar! Not to mention, it’s on the more affordable side, which is always a plus!

If you’re a vegan that lives in Connecticut, and you haven’t been here yet, what are you even doing?!

All jokes aside, I come here each time with my non-vegan friends and family, and everyone always leaves feeling satisfied and nourished. 10/10 recommend!
